We stayed at this hotel for 8 nights and are so pleased we made the right choice. Lovely quiet room with a balcony, comfortable beds and very generous hospitality tray. Breakfast was amazing! So much choice at the buffet, plus a selection of meals to order. Very well set up for my husband's gluten free needs. Staff in the restaurant, bar, reception and room servicing were all so friendly and helpful. Indoor swimming pool was great, plus other sports facilities. Beautiful grounds with a lake to walk around - even had a an adventure golf course, which was great fun :) Would definitely recommend and stay again if we return to Guernsey.

I would give 5 stars as hotel, Spa and bar excellent. Let down by service in restaurant and a problem with the room not being fixed. Otherwise excellent hotel.

Sunday carvery good value.Food was only lukewarm though and the 10% service charge can really push the bull up.

Overall above average for this level of star hotel.

Travelling as a family of 6 adults, we booked the 4 night package as a break together to experience Christmas away from home due to a significant bereavement on Christmas Day 2020.
We arrived on a very wet Christmas Eve and couldn’t get a taxi to the hotel. I rang to see if there was any way they could help and the hotel minibus was dispatched immediately to collect us. Dave the driver was so friendly and we were very grateful not to have to wait for the bus so an excellent first impression.
On arrival there was a mix up with our rooms but this was dealt with in a courteous and professional manner and didn’t impact our stay once it was sorted out unduly.
All meals apart from Christmas Day were served in the Victor Hugo restaurant from a 3 course set menu. The choice was fairly limited and the same every evening but we all found something to eat that was delicious.
Breakfast is always a highlight at the SPP and didn’t disappoint.
Christmas Day lunch was a choice between a sit down meal or a carvery buffet. As a family we opted for the buffet. The choice of starters and presentation of the food was fantastic. The staff were constantly topping everything up and there was more than enough food for everyone. The carvery was turkey, beef and pork with all the trimmings you would expect and it was delicious. There was a choice of desserts and the chocolate fountain was a highlight with the children. The cheeseboard was superb. The atmosphere in the La Fontaine dining room was lovely. The tables had been beautifully decorated and there was a little gold gift box for everyone containing party poppers and balloons etc. Christmas music played in the background, Santa visited and everyone had a joyful time. The staff worked incredibly hard to ensure all ran smoothly and it did.
Later that evening, though we were sure we wouldn’t eat again for days, we managed to wander down for tea around 8pm where we enjoyed a light supper that really hit the spot.
The hotel provided an active program that included excursions out to parts of the island and to Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. The weather wasn’t particularly kind and so this probably wasn’t as popular as it might have been had the weather been dry.
Within the hotel, you could join a Christmas quiz, play bingo, watch the Queens speech or enjoy a board game or jigsaw. Lots of fun!
The staff were all amazing and so helpful and especially kind towards our son who has communication difficulties and made lots of ‘friends’ while he was there.
The spa was open every day during our stay and we enjoyed the warm pool, sauna and steam rooms. The lake was lovely to walk around when there was a gap in the rain.
It truly was a wonderful break in every way and we look forward to returning again soon having missed our yearly trips over the pandemic.
Thank you to everyone for working so hard to put the magic into Christmas and looking after us.

Hotel is lovely. Very nice staff good food in the terrace bar. Our room is perfect with a huge bed... very comfy even i couldn't steal the entire bed and I'm a good star fish. Swimming pool is nice with sauna and steam room, not too busy when I've been you have full use of all facilities and the spa is reasonable, i bought my hubby a massage for £45 which kept him busy for 45mins and he loved it. The only down side to the hotel is how cold it is.. everywhere! The room has been cold most of the time, heating has been on but the radiator is tiny. Sat in the terrace bar there is a cold breeze coming from somewhere, no doors open its just so cold. BTW it is freezing outside but I would expect the hotel to be able to warm me up a little. Would definitely come again in the summer when more attractions are open on the island. Booked through last minute.com.
Oh BTW try the waffles at breakfast they are really good!
