We stayed at the OGH to celebrate my Mother in Law's 80th birthday.

The rooms were spotless, in fact I can honestly say there is no room for improvement where cleanliness is concerned across the whole hotel, so full marks to the house keeping team.

Nothing was too much trouble for the Concierge team, helpful, polite and accommodating. They went to the harbour to buy tickets for the ferry to Sark on our behalf, carried bags, called cabs and gave us great advice.

Where the hotel excelled was with the waiting staff. We asked the hotel to help us with a birthday cake and balloon for my mother in law's 80th birthday and they really delivered. They made the most fantastic cake - which they customised. Delivered at Breakfast, as we'd requested, the staff led by Daniel surprised us all by singing 'Happy Birthday' much to the birthday girl's delight.

Daniel then proceeded to make us all feel special through out our stay, something we really appreciated.

Could there be any improvements? Yes, the reservation team could be clearer about which floors the lift services. Access is not easy for elderly people for all floors and I'd have preferred rooms with access from the lift, something I thought we'd booked.

As someone with limited mobility, hand rails you can get your whole hand around are safer and the hand rails for the swimming pool ladder/steps are not quite higher enough to make access easy.

That said. Would we stay again? In a heartbeat. Did we have a fabulous time? Yes we did. Did the service exceed our expectations? Absolutely.

We were nervous about being away with an 80 year and an 84 year old. But the service, little details such as the turn down service, treats on your pillows, cleanliness and most importantly the staff made this a holiday of a life time, and for that we're forever grateful X

Three of us visited the Spa at OGH for the day. We were all in agreement that the treatments we received were the best we had experienced. I had a 60min full body massage and 50min facial, it was magical and I left the treatment room feeling fantastic. We then had use of the hotel facilities, we sat by the pool and had a cocktail and snacks. It's a beautiful place and the bill for the day was great value for the quality we received.

We took my son to OGH, along with my elderly in-laws, to celebrate his 11th birthday. The staff treated us like visiting royalty - along with appeltise 'champagne' in a proper flute for the young man and an excellent vintage for the grown-ups. The cakes and scones were divine and the selection of teas impeccable. Even the posturing seagull on the roof added to the joy of the afternoon! It was an experience that we will never forget. Thank you!

My wife and I have stayed here more than once and had a great experience every time.
We therefore decided to have our wedding reception here and everything was just perfect.
Our guests were very well looked after and had a lovely stay.
Very helpful staff and great food, special thanks to Harry and Sam for looking after us so well.

We took our car over by ferry and due to a few diversions had slight difficulty in finding the entrance to the hotel. But once we arrived, the staff completely made us feel so welcome. Each and every time they parked and retrieved our car without hesitation which was very appreciated. The reception staff were very helpful and professional and the glass of prosecco was very pleasant on arrival. Our room was well designed though a bit on the small side, but the sunrise over the island was truly amazing from the bedroom window. The breakfast was first class and the service was top notch, and I would like to give a special mention to Kathryn, as she was so pleasant and friendly, a real asset to the team. We had one evening meal there which was fine though the choice we found a bit uninspiring but the service and surrounding more then made up for it. All in all a memorable 4 night break and would certainly return. I would class this hotel as 5 star as the hotel throughout is beautifully decorated and maintained and the staff are exceptional. We didn't use the spar as there wasn't time because there are so many beautiful beaches and places to visit. The boat trip to Herm was fantastic, as the captain went slightly off course for us to watch a pod of dolphins and the islands beaches were stunning. However we were so lucky with exceptionally good weather, wall to wall sunshine. The Old Government House and Guernsey and without a doubt both wonderful places to visit.

We were so impressed with the staff at this hotel. They were so friendly, helpful and polite. Breakfast was fantastic and the room was very comfortable.
One tip if you are arriving by car - simply park outside the front door and let the staff valet park your car in their very tight car park!

The rooms are superb, ours was a King with balcony, booked for a special occasion. Spacious and well appointed. The front of house staff and general management went out of their way to make our stay a memorable and enjoyable one.

We spent a week at the OGH in St Peter Port. We chose a King Room and were delighted with the accommodation. The room was spacious with two french windows which gave an abundance of fresh air, so often missing in modern hotels. The staff are very attentive and the bed linen and bath towels are changed at whatever frequency you desire. There is an excellent pool in the grounds with a variety of sum loungers some which are fixed with a bent knee position, excellent for sitting and reading without sliding down.
The Brasserie breakfast is excellent and on sunny days there are tables set up in the garden.
There is only a short walk down to the centre of the town but the hotel allows you to be "away from it all"

Just come back from a wonderful stay at OGH. We wanted a romantic break for our 10th wedding anniversary and OGH delivered! Sparkling wine on arrival, a glass of champagne with a hand written card at breakfast and our bed decorated with towels in a shape of a heart with rose petals scattered on them!
A big thank you goes to Andi on Reception, so helpful and smiley! And Daniel who made sure we were well looked after.
The swimming pool was heated and lovely and clean. The breakfast was fantastic, lots of fresh fruit and plenty of hot choices too.
We found our bedroom was a bit small and the bathroom, but the bed was very comfy and the room was quiet.
Well done OGH, your staff did a great job this weekend. We hope to come back one day. :)

We booked the OGH as a base to do 6 days coastal walking.
We upgraded to a Queens size room thinking it would give us plenty is space to store our walking equipment etc. The room was beautiful with en-suite bathroom with shower and bath, which again was very plush.
Our only criticism is that the storage space was just a little limited, apart from that the staff, the Maitre D was excellent and very attentive. The food was excellent we used the Brasserie and the Indian restaurant called The Governors room. We used the spa and the swimming pool too all very clean and pool was nice and warm.
We will definitely go back to this Hotel again.
Thank you to all of the staff for our wonderful stay.

First time to stay in this wonderful 5 star, centrally located hotel, one of the many hotels in the Red Carnation group .Also our first time to visit Guernsey which is spectacular.
The hotel staff were extremely helpful, professional, polite, pleasant and friendly. Our flight home was cancelled at the last minute and accommodation on the island would have been hard to get but one phone call to the hotel manager,Mr.Andrew Chantrell, and we were sorted immediately. He is ably assisted by the deputy manager, Gareth Byrne and together they make a great team.I often noticed them engaging with staff and guests during our stay which is rare these days.
The decor and layout of the hotel are fabulous-lots of interesting framed photos, paintings, ornaments throughout.Furniture is exquisite and public rooms most inviting.Private transportation to and from the airport arranged by the hotel was prompt and comfortable. Breakfast was a real feast.Do try the Irish Benedict-a real Gaelic twist on eggs benedict!
The heated outdoor swimming pool is most inviting and waiter service there was frequent and quick.Large jugs of fresh mint/lemon iced water are constantly available by the pool, again a rarity in hotels of this calibre.
Our bedroom was spacious and the turn-down service included a different nibble of some kind every evening-eg.sweets,biscuits etc.Toiletries are by l'Occitane, another treat.I can't wait to return!.

We had a very good stay with our dog, who was made very welcome by all the staff. Staff were very friendly and service was speedy and very attentive. Room was excellent, food was good; ample portions and tasty. We had breakfast, cream tea and dinner and had no complaints.

The jacuzzis in the spa are a good idea but they felt too much like part of the gym - not a very swish room and a bit busy. But still a good way to unwind after a day traveling.

Only thing that stops it being 5star was some odd issues that, taken together, were a bit annoying: Coffee machine out of order at breakfast, no baked beans at breakfast (apparently they had run out but how does a hotel manage to run out?) and three times room service arrived minus part of the order - though fixed speedily once pointed out. Individually, nothing significant in the grand scheme of things but we were there for one night for my wife's birthday and left feeling it wasn't quite as perfect as it could easily have been if they were a bit better organised behind the scenes.

We celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary at the OGH. On arrival, there was a bottle of Prosecco and a lovely signed card in our room, which was compact but delightfully furnished, with a great view across the swimming pool to the sea. The staff were wonderful - nothing was too much trouble - and the breakfasts were very good, with a range of different dishes, including fresh haddock. We had our anniversary meal in the curry restaurant, which is a quirky romantic candlit parlour furnished in red velvet.
The heated pool was great to relax by and swim in - even my husband, who hates cold water and won't usually swim out of doors, had a couple of refreshing dips.

We were offered a welcome drink in reception when we arrived, as our plane got in a bit early for check-in, then we were shown round by a pleasant young man called Stuart, who kindly printed out historical information about the hotel for us when he saw we were interested. In our room, towels were arranged in a heart shape and scattered with fresh flowers, which was a welcoming touch.

Every evening, a member of the housekeeping staff turned down the be quilt and brought a copy of the local daily paper and a sweet treat.

OGH is a wonderful hotel, and we will certainly return. Thoroughly recommended.

First visit to Guernsey. We stayed here as a family group of five, in 3 rooms, for a long weekend to celebrate my mother in law's 80th birthday. It was just perfect. We were able to organise flowers and chocolates for her room, and the staff surprised her with a cake too. She was absolutely delighted. The staff were all attentive, professional, friendly and helpful. The rooms were beautifully decorated, and felt quite luxurious. We used the restaurant for breakfast and dinner and the bar for cocktails. The food and service could not be faulted. We lazed around the swimming pool one afternoon which was so relaxing. The hotel is close to the town, easy walking distance, and is a short taxi journey to the airport. I would love to return.

This was a repeat visit for us having stayed hear on a couple of other occasions. Check is was easy. One very slight annoyance was being shown 'round the facilities off the hotel before going to our room by some chap who though it funny to embelish the tour with his own witicisms - big mistake they weren't funny and neither was he so in future keep it professional and drop the wise cracks.

When we were going through the original booking process like most 5* Hotels you can provide your own preferences to things such as Pillow type, Trouser press and Iron required, and hotel chauffer Airport Pickup and so on. When we arrived into Guernsey Airport these was not sign of the hotel booked driver and despite chasing the hotel no one turned up so we jumped into another taxi. When we arrived into our room none of the 'preferences' had been provided or met. A call to the front desk remedied the mistake but in reality this is a 5* Hotel and it shouldnt have happened.

Uncontrolled access to the outdoor heated pool by members of the public who are not residents of Spa guests - once this was highlighted by other guests the staff were onto it. The pool is lovely and sheltered and perfectly relaxing once the staff realise there are people that require service with drinks and snacks, once again it had to be pointed out that there are guests around the pool that require service.

Breakfast restuarant was first class however we chose to dine out during our 5 day stay mainly because Guernsy is spoilt with excellent restuarants.

Overall the stay on the island was wonderful and the Hotel were pleasant enough but they do need to sharpen the claimed 5* service

We spent a lovely few days being utterly spoilt in this hotel, which coincided with our wedding anniversary. The staff were without exception charming and very helpful and we could not have been looked after more thoughtfully. The hotel is very quiet, despite being just five minutes' walk from the town, seafront and shops.

We enjoyed excellent dining in the Brasserie and also in The Governor's where a delicious curry is served accompanied by specially selected wines to complement each course. My husband has spent many years in the Far East and he declared the curry to be 'brilliant' and destined to 'attract the connoisseur'! Breakfasts too were superb.

We did not use the Spa or Gym but were given a guided tour and they both looked very impressive. Nor did we sample the open air swimming pool although we sat on the terrace above with a drink on several occasions.

This hotel is full of interesting antiques belonging to the owners and I would suggest not suitable for small children. If you have limited mobility, request an accessible room. There are quite a few stairs in the hotel and not all rooms are served by the lift.

I cannot rate this hotel highly enough, mainly due to the very professional and helpful staff. Clearly the owners and the manager care very deeply about standards and ensuring that they are at the pinnacle of care and hospitality.

Looking for somewhere special to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary.
My wife and I were not disappointed because as soon as we entered up the stairs you could tell this was hotel worthy of the five star rating.
Receptionist was welcoming and friendly.
You could see how wonderful it was as we were shown to our room. Grand staircase with lovely pictures adorn the walls.
Our room equally did not disappoint. Everything that was needed was there. Plenty of space and great bathroom.
The view from the window overlooking St Peter Port and the sea with Castle Cornet was an added bonus.
Breakfast was of the highest standard.
One lovely touch was as my wife and I had almost finished our breakfast, the restaurant manager came over and congratulated us on our wedding anniversary and offered a glass of champagne.
Our pleasant surprise did not finish there as when we returned to our room the maid had been in and on the bed were red flower petals on towels rolled up into a heart shape.
I cannot praise this hotel and it's staff highly enough.
If you are looking for that somewhere special then this is a place along with St Peter Port to consider.

Booked here for my wife's 50th birthday. Lovely hotel close to the main town. Room was well presented with a great view. We had our evening meals elsewhere but the breakfasts here were wonderful, as was a high tea we had in the grounds. Didn't get chance to use the pool although it did look inviting. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

not the biggest of rooms but excellent bathroom/ shower. Very attentive service at meal times. Unfortunately didn't use the spa or pool. good excuse to go back! the hotel is in a great location as we could to town and sample the resturants around the harbour. We drove around the outside of the island and saw lovely beaches before catching the ferry back home.

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights as part of our 30th wedding anniversary celebrations, our first visit to Guernsey. The hotel is conveniently placed just up from the shopping area in St. Peter Port, but approach by car is narrow and unloading a bit tricky. However, they parked the car for me as soon as we had the bags out which was helpful. Andi greeted us and told us we could have an upgrade for the first two nights, to ensure we wouldn't be disturbed by a wedding reception. She also worked some magic and on the third night we had a room with a balcony, upon which we sat and toasted our 30 years and the end of our holiday with a good sparkling wine from room service. Breakfasts were good, with a fair choice at the buffet and tasty cooked options. We ate once in the evening, the food was good but pricey, normally it would have impressed but we had just come from the top Jersey hotel which was sublime. Both rooms we had were clean, well presented and had the facilities expected. Overall, it was a great base from which to explore Guernsey and the staff were warm, welcoming and highly professional.

We had an amazing 4 night stay at this luxurious hotel. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay here. It is sheer luxury and it is so tastefully and gracefully decorated. So much attention to detail to make your stay just sublime. The breakfast is just amazing with a wonderful selection made to your specifications. Unfortunately it was too cold to swim but the pool area is just fabulous. It is also in a great location with just a short walk into town and the port. Highly recommended.

We were here for a wedding reception and we can't praise it as a venue too much. The menu was very well balanced. The main course was roast beef and all the timings. It didn't taste like hotel food, but rather more like a roast meal you would cook at home. The jus was delicious and I could have been very greedy with the potatoes, the beef was cooked to perfection. The service was courteous and very helpful. there were no long waits for anything, as there often are at functions of this kind. I would recommend it to anyone about to plan a reception of any kind.

Located in the centre of St Peter Port, friendly staff on welcome arrival, rooms were clean and decor unusual and more of a Period style than modern, rooms were quiet even in the front of the hotel, not much view from front elevation but very acceptable. Beds Comfy although a bit small as used to king size bed normally could be considered a bit cramped. Pool was heated and a nice tempreture this was a bonus on a cloudy day. Breakfast choice was good, fruit cereal, yoghurt, berries as well as usual cooked breakfast and plenty of tea and coffee. St Peter Port is pretty with plenty of restaurants and good shops all in close proximity of the hotel. Beware! the towns streets can be very steep and if you have difficulty walking maybe you should seek advice, I am quite fit so getting around was no problem for me. To sum up great hotel in a excellent location true 5* hotel. I enjoyed my stay here.
