Stayed for a week in Sept. Hotel staff are all fantastic i simply cannot fault their polite conversation and smile each day. The rooms are in meed of some care and we had 2 clean but old stained towels on 2 occasions. There was mould beginning to grow in the bathroom above the bath and the balcony needs a good brushing. There was cob webs in 2 corners of our room. This is 4 star and to be honest is desperately in need of taking in hand to improve. The staff are trying their best and that is really apparent. But stained towels, cob webs and unbrushed balconies really show a lack of attention to detail. Dirty patio doors in breakfast room, it just lacks that extra bit to bring it up. It has willing staff, although a few more would certainly help. Yes our room was serviced daily, and it smelt fresh. I do actually like the hotel and this is our 2nd visit. Yes we would go again, but it needs a bit of a boost and some love from the owners that would clearly back such hard working staff.

Fermain Valley Hotel is in a lovely setting with great views and very friendly and helpful reception staff. The gardens leading down to Fermain Bay are beautiful and worth spending time exploring the various spaces. The beach itself is worth the walk down to to experience sunrise and sunset. From the beach you can also pick up the coastal walk into St Peter Port which we did as wel as the opposite direction to Marble Bay.
The only negative was that our hotel room was situated away from the main hotel overlooking the road and parking lot above a restaurant that got noisy with patrons leaving the restaurant close to midnight. To get the best experience and views, make sure you book a room in the main hotel overlooking Fermain Bay.
Breakfast was good and the staff very helpful.
Also worth mentioning is the Tea Room with a good selection of cakes and offering a traditional Afternoon Tea.
Will definitely consider a return visit

Great hotel, facilities and all staff great, restaurants and food also fab. Only issue was the temperature of the rooms. The air con sounds like it's a traction engine firing up and it just doesn't work and cleaners would open blinds so sun streamed in all day. Room 39 for reference. Setting also very scenic with great gardens and walk down to the cove below

We stayed at the hotel whilst working on the Island. Unfortunately we were unable to check in before 3pm, after arriving on the island on the early ferry, so we ended up having food and drinks at one of the hotel restaurants, Ocean Restaurant before checking in . The views from the terrace look right across Fermain Bay. Food was good but a little slow on the service, even though there were few guests dining.
For some reason, this was also the case at breakfast which was at the same restaurant. Staff however were friendly and very helpful. Couldn't fault them.
Food selections on the lunch/evening were limited for vegetarians and vegans. Breakfast however had a good selection of a vegetarian cooked breakfast, avocado & mushrooms on sourdough, shakshuka, fresh fruit bowls , cereal, pastries, fresh fruit, juices and so forth. Presentation of food was lovely.
We also dined at the other two restaurants Bûho restaurant and also the Rock Garden Steakhouse. Bûho was our favourite restaurant out of them all for the food choices, the cocktails and the atmosphere. Good choice of vegetarian dishes also at Bûho too.
Now to the room: Our room was situated at the top of the older part of the hotel and was spacious and well appointed with a mini fridge with chilled water inside, which was much appreciated in the very hot weather and we noticed a bag full of children's toys/puzzles was also included in the wardrobe which was a lovely touch. Toiletries in the bathroom (The White company) smelt lovely.
The only faults we found was that the room was very very hot (A fan was provided to help), there were few sockets in the room to charge our work computers/devices as some of the sockets are specially designed for hotel staff to use and the shower cubicle could have done with a bit of an an update as the surround was a little worn.
The hotel library downstairs next to the coffee/tea room has an array of leaflets and information of local site seeing places in the area and a quiet space to chill out if it is raining outside.
The swimming pool downstairs is small but wonderful to relax in after a full day of work or sightseeing-towels were available from the reception area and changing rooms close to the poolside. Sadly I was unable to book any spa treatments on the days we stayed, as it was already fully booked.
Hotel is ideally situated to walk down to Fermain Bay to explore the coastal path and Bluebell woods, to spend a day at the beach or go for a bracing swim in the Bay. Be warned the walk back from the beach is fairly steep for those who struggle with walking up hills/lower mobility. There is a bench part way up for a breather if you need it.
There is parking at the hotel via a very narrow single track road.
All in all a lovely place to stay and we would return if on the island again.

We first vistied Fermain Valley Hotel when it first opened, so was looking forward to a return trip as the Hotel used to e excellent and immaculate.

On our return visit in June 22, I was surprised how dated and tired the property is, especially now under the Hand Picked Hotels group.

The Platinum room we had was huge and front of the hotel with a stunning sea view, it was clean just needs an update and some little extras for the price we paid and compared to other 4 star hotels at this price point.

There are 2 onsite hotel restaurants, the main one is Greek, which seems to be miss placed here is n my opinion, this would be much better as a Brasserie with a winder reaching menu. This is also the breakfast location, which is tale service for hot food. Breakfast was ok, but the menu is not traditional. Continental is self serve, with a limited choice of cereal, fruit and pastries.

The other restaurant is The Rock Garden, great atmosphere in here, food was good, again limited menu, mainly meat.

The common areas of the hotel, sitting room and library need a refresh and some attention. No guest were using these areas, I suspect like us it was because they were not inviting, no soul or atmosphere, it felt like sitting in an empty house. We even had to turn the light on for ourselves one evening, didn't see any staff in these areas in the 4 days we were there.

The swimming pool..... it needs serious attention (or ripping out), shabby and unloved.
Sauna - wasn't working in the time we were here.

The hotel could be stunning again, the location and views stunning, but based on the hotel, we wouldn't return unfortunately.

The staff were all lovely and knowledgable, the inclusive shuttle was a brilliant service, and the drive was lovely.

I hope this hotel is recused and brought back up to its potential.
