We spent our honeymoon here this week.
We were in a treehouse suite and everything was absolutely perfect. We utilised all the restaurants and bars that were on offer. Spent time in the cinema, and strolled down to the bay. We cannot thank the staff enough, especially Alina, Stephen, and Marie, everyone made each interaction easy and every experience great. The treehouse suite was just breathtaking, words cannot describe it all. We plan to come back very soon and this will be our regular spot whenever we visit Guernsey.

Our ‘go to’ hotel on Guernsey due to the location.
Unfortunately, since Hand Picked Hotels have picked the bones from a once superb accommodation, service, variety and that ‘feeling special’ vibe has deteriorated/vanished.
The staff are as wonderful as ever, hard working, attentive and passionate.
If only the management, who were non-existent, would follow suit.
Waiting times to be served in the Ocean Restaurant and the Rock Garden were well over an hour in the evening, management failings so no blame should be apportioned on the waiting staff, with very limited menus compared to days of yore prior to Hand Picked ‘give em’ a small choice but we make a bundle philosophy’.
Oh how I yearn for a steak from Brazil, Argentina, Ireland or other far flung countries around the globe that the Rock Garden was famous and revered for.
Not anymore…..Saturday night just gone, a very apologetic waitress announced that they only had two steaks available and an even more sparse wine selection. It’s akin to popping to your local Indian and being told “sorry we’re out of curries”!
Friends and other guests also commented during our stay that “things are not as they used to be prior to Hand Picked Hotels’ involvement.
Thank goodness the staff at the front end are still trying to hold this once fabulous hotel together.
Fermain waiting/bar/reception staff you are amazing…… management/Hand Picked, you may have lost loyal guests.

This is our 8th stay at Fermain. Our room - which we request, as has a beautiful sea view - is amazing. Although, our towel rail isn’t working, so we can’t dry our towels or swimsuits. The staff, Katia, Julius, Kevin to name but a few are incredible. But, unfortunately, since being taken over by Hand Picked Hotels, it has changed dramatically. Whilst on holiday, I like to enjoy a glass of Sauvignon blanc, or Pinot grigio, or a decent glass of blush. But unfortunately, these are but available by the glass! On sale are some rather dreadful wines, which are grown in Julia Hand’s vineyards. I might use them to clean my shower cubicle doors, but I couldn’t drink them - they were awful. Rock Gardens used to be fantastic. Steak from all over world and it would be booked up months in advance. Now it is empty - with no atmosphere. When we ate there, there was a choice of two types of steak! . Filet and Chateaubriand were off the menu too! It’s not the waiting staff’s fault - it’s the management! Buhu is fabulous - no problem there, but would we return, just for a Mexican restaurant? Something has to seriously be changed, before this once amazing hotel returns to its former glory. Shame on you Hand Picked
Hotels.

No air conditioning in the rooms! My room was like a sauna, made it very difficult to sleep. Staff were wonderful and supplied a mobile air con unit but to no avail. Staff overall were wonderful and breakfast is great.
Also, be aware that the "cheaper" rooms are in a unit quite a long way from the main hotel and do not look like anything on the advertising!

Air conditioning - there isn't any! My room was like a sauna and it made it very difficult to sleep. The staff tried to help with a mobile air con unit but to limited effect. Otherwise, the stay was lovely, staff superb, wonderful breakfast.
Also, be aware that the "cheaper" rooms are a long way from the main hotel - bit cheeky really.

We stayed at the Fermain Valley Hotel for a week, the hotel is in a perfect location just a short walk to Fermain bay. Every member of the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.

We had the most fabulous 6 night stay here. The room was spacious and had everything we needed (air con would be the only thing missing!). The location is stunning and just a short walk to the beautiful Fermain Bay. The grounds and the gardens are immaculate.
Breakfast was delicious and had everything you could wish for - likewise the evening meal in the Ocean restaurant & in the Rock garden were fantastic. Food is certainly expensive on the whole island as are drinks.
The swimming pool was perfect and the cinema room a lovely touch.
Whilst not marketed as a kids friendly hotel, we have never stayed anywhere so inclusive - the little touches such as the dressing gown, the puffin on the bed, hot chocolate at breakfast, milk & cookies before bed - all made it so special.
Above all we will remember the impeccable service from all the staff - they really made our stay so wonderful.
Thank you - we will return!

Our stay at Fermain Valley Hotel was exceptional from start to finish. We stayed for three nights in a Superior Room, and paying the little extra was absolutely worth it. Waking up each morning to the breathtaking sea view from our balcony, with birdsong in the background and such peaceful surroundings, made it incredibly relaxing.
The hotel strikes a wonderful balance between luxury and warmth. Everywhere was immaculately clean, beautifully maintained, and tastefully decorated without feeling dated. We loved discovering the little quirky touches around the hotel, and the tropical plants and spectacular views made it feel truly special.
The staff were the real highlight. Every member of the team was attentive, professional, proactive and genuinely caring. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble, and there was a lovely sense of teamwork and pride throughout the hotel.
One small moment summed this up perfectly: while replacing towels in the ladies' bathroom, a member of staff kindly offered me a hand towel instead of using the hand dryer, noticing I might prefer to avoid the noise. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made me feel genuinely cared for.
The facilities were excellent. The swimming pool was spotless and a perfect temperature, and we loved the unique cinema, where guests can even stream their own films. The breakfasts were simply outstanding—among the best we've had anywhere—and there was an impressive variety of dinner options too.
A special mention must go to Antonia, who took the time to chat with us during room service and recommended places to visit that genuinely enhanced our holiday. We'd also like to thank Sarah, Kevin, Mimi and Christina, who all helped make our stay so memorable through their kindness and professionalism.
Even after three nights, we left feeling there was still so much more to see and do, which is the perfect excuse to come back.
Thank you to everyone at Fermain Valley Hotel for creating such a welcoming and memorable experience. We can't wait to return and look forward to seeing this wonderful hotel continue to flourish.

Room of a good standard (deluxe double), clean on arrival and housekeeping excellent throughout.
Bar drinks reasonably priced and good service.

Reception staff friendly but to
o much information on arrival. Regular bus routes outside hotel enable easy and cheap travel around the island ( grump drivers included!).

Food in Buho restaurant was good, service very slow. Ocean restaurant for breakfast and dinner service extremely slow( you could wait an hour for your cooked breakfast). Main disappointment we had booked a special meal for our anniversary in the Ocean restaurant and informed the hotel well in advance that we were vegan. On arrival all best tables were taken and we told, 'sit where you want'. Restaurant vegan options were very poor with us ending up having for our anniversary meal a very inadequate pizza, it was woeful. Other meal we in the Ocean restaurant was poor. Ironically the best vegan meal was in the Rock Garden steakhouse!

We had a lovely stay at the Fermain Valley Hotel which we found clean, quiet, and comfortable.
The location is a 5 minute drive/bus ride/taxi or 30 minute walk from St Peter Port which we found quite advantageous due to the quiet location in the valley overlooking the water. It is a 10 minute walk downhill to a beautiful beach and pleasant cafe.
We found the breakfast quite nice with a wide range of menu options. One night we had a fantastic meal at the Rock Garden Restaurant on the premises.
What made Fermain Valley especially pleasant was the friendly, professional staff from the front desk to housekeeping to the restaurant. I special compliment to Sarah who always greeted us by name with a kind "good morning" at every breakfast.

Just back from a fabulous week at Fermain Valley Hotel. It ticked every single box. We had a great room and it was house kept every day. The breakfasts were superb. Lots of choice at a bar buffet and a long menu of cooked items which were always well made and nicely presented. We ate at all three hotel restaurants and returned to the Mexican restaurant a second time. All three were great. Great service. In fact the staff throughout the hotel were attentive, polite and helpful. It was so nice to be taken care of. We have already booked to return this year.
A few bits and bobs: kettle and cafetière in room / strong WiFi / bus stop within 200m and you can get anywhere for £1.70 / we hired E-bikes from Go Guernsey and they delivered to the hotel / we didn’t bring or hire a car; no need / bar and cafe areas were just as should be / nicely kept landscaped grounds / very peaceful / beach and cafe out the hotel and down the hill.
Thank you.

We have just spent a week at Fermain Valley Hotel and enjoyed the stay. The hotel is charming, the grounds are lovely, and the outside veranda is a real highlight — perfect for relaxed breakfasts and dinners overlooking the sea. The staff were consistently friendly, warm, and attentive, which made the stay feel special.
The only downside was the room. We stayed in Room 38 which was tastefully decorated and large. However Rooms 38 - 42 are located in the eaves, and during our stay — which coincided with an unprecedented heatwave — the temperature inside reached 34.8°C, even with two fans running constantly. The sun shines directly on the roof on the afternoon onwards and the heat does not dissipate in the evening, even when it was much cooler outside, which made sleeping very difficult. We were told that only 4 bedrooms have aircon in the entire hotel.
Special mention to Catya on Reception who moved heaven and earth to transfer our room (if only for 3 nights). This room was noticeably cooler by 6 degrees.
If you’re booking, I’d strongly recommend choosing a room in a different part of the hotel. With the right room, this hotel is a fantastic place to stay in Guernsey.

The room and en-suite were lovely - beautifully appointed and very quiet. Just what we needed. The staff went out of their way to help. There are three car parks and we had no trouble parking. Breakfast was excellent with a choice of food for every taste.

There are three restaurants, The Ocean, The Steak House and Buho (serving Mexican food). Sadly, The Ocean was only open one night during our four night stay as the fish dishes there were excellent. Seemed such a shame as Guernsey is famous for it's seafood. One niggle about The Steak House: the red wine was served warm - but the staff did provide some crushed ice to help!

One point not related to the hotel but one to note - although parking everywhere is free you need to display a time clock on your dashboard to show what time you arrived in the car park and car parks are divided into different length stays. Be warned! We had no idea how this operated and found that you can buy the clocks (£6)either from the Tourist Information Bureau or the Police Station.

All in all, a lovely hotel and a beautiful island to visit.

Wonderful stay stay at Fermain, we loved our room, fabulously clean and comfortable, great breakfast and a heated indoor pool. The location is out of St. Peters and it's not an easy walk, not an issue for us as we had a car. We ate in The Ocean Terrace restaurant on our arrival night as we wanted to relax. We had a lovely meal, restaurant prices, but worth it. We were suprised that this restaurant remained close for the rest of our stay. The food offering that remained, was a pub like steak place in the same building or a Mexican up the road. This to me is not a 4 star hotel. We were lucky we could go out to other restaurants, of which there are plenty, but be warned if you are expecting a 4 star restaurant on site. There also is no Spa - a treatment room - and an unused Hot tub - again expectations would need to be adjusted. Despite these disappointments, the saving grace are the staff. Without exception they were all wonderful, kind and attentive.

"The hotel itself was clean and pleasant, and a couple of staff members were genuinely helpful. However, we encountered multiple issues that significantly affected our stay. After booking, we were notified the main pool was closed but received a follow-up email suggesting it would be fixed by our arrival. It wasn't. When we arrived on Sunday, we were told it would reopen Wednesday. It didn't, and the reopening date kept getting pushed back to Thursday, then Friday, then Monday. We never got to use it.

We were offered access to their sister hotel via shuttle service. In reality, this meant waiting for an available staff member to drive us, which was impractical. We were effectively told to drive ourselves despite the thirty minute round trip and fuel costs on top of an already expensive stay.

When we arrived, we were also told we could only access the sister hotel pool for one hour between three and four PM, and only to take children. They wouldn't allow children at any other time. Additionally, they offered a complimentary three course meal as further compensation, but this turned out to be only two courses. Service was slow throughout our stay, and we ended up leaving early without fully benefiting from the meal.

Overall, the food and service quality were poor. We won't be returning and regret not booking our previous year's hotel instead

A lovely tranquil hotel in the most beautiful stunning location . The hotel is very comfortable and clean and the service very good. A big shout out to Marie, Shayne , Sarisa, and our very lovely chambermaid Cecelia they all went the extra mile in making our stay enjoyable, in fact all the staff were brilliant. The room was comfortable with everything you needed. Bed was comfy and bathroom spotless . The breakfast was fabulous such a good choice .
The swimming pool was our only disappointment as it was being revamped so out of action . We were not informed about this until arrival but we were offered their sister hotel amenities which we used and they were fabulous. All in all a lovely break shame about the weather but that’s pot luck in our country .

Staff fantastic... breakfast excellent...food good...not happy about auto tip on food bills I know we can take it off but doesn't sit well
Really disappointed that the pool was out of action...we were told we could use the sister hotel but we didn't have transport so that wasn't going to be easy...it's a shame because the pool was one of the reasons we booked.
Our room though did have a marvellous view of the bay.

We came here directly from another Hand Picked Hotel on Jersey so it was interesting to note how very different they were. The differences were remarkable but the underlying theme was the same. That theme was a high degree of comfort, a homely feel and a warm welcome. Reflection accurately described in hotel literature regarding the ethos of the owner.
This peacefully situated and extremely comfortable hotel has everything for the guest who wants to relax and receive top quality service from friendly yet competent and professional staff.
We have a dog in our family and she was made to feel welcome at both hotels.
We were particularly impressed by the 3 dining options at the Fermain Valley the food and service at each was of a consistent and high standard.
We are now determined to visit more hotels in the group and would not hesitate to return to the two we had visited so far.
