Had a gold room with balcony looking down the valley. The planes fly over the hotel but only a few in the morning Heathrow it ain't. Lovely meals, wine waiter very helpful service just right. Staff very helpful and obviously trained to focus on customer service.
The rooms do not have air conditioning so could be over warm during the warmer weather. Swimming pool clean and when we visited we were the only ones in it.

Stayed here with my elderly Aunty we both had a lovely time.
The rooms are very clean with all essentials provided, the food was excellent.
ALL staff were very helpful and could not do any more for us.
We are now looking to re-book later this year.

Thank you to the Manager and his excellent team!

A good hotel rather "boutique " in style with good food and friendly service.Could do with King size beds .Very surprised that hotel of this standard did not have Sky TV with Sky sports and so was unable to watch important football match. We would not stay there again for this reason alone and we are going to be very regular visitors to Guernsey

I won't bore you with the things that other people have written as they are accurate. We had a gold room and it came with a balcony. That option was very nice as the weather was kind and as the hotel has no airconditioning it was nice to open it at night for fresh air. Just a tip if you are disabled make sure you get the ones with extra facilities in the bathroom although I told everyone down the line in the booking process that my husband was disabled we just got a standard bathroom. We managed as it was just for a week but it was not easy. The one down side that marred the experience was that our account was overcharged by quite a lot at £90.00 I got the impression that they were not really sorry just sorry they had been caught out. Be warned and check your bill. If you want a treat go to Hot Rock it is excellent.

The hotel is situated approximately half way between the airport and St Peter Port.
Access to the hotel is down a steep, but short road, with the Hotel's 'Venue' extension at the top of that road.
The hotel was refurbished in 2006 and the result is a high quality location for quiet holidays.
The food is excellent, with more than sufficient choice off of two menus for each sitting. If you aren't on full board, the prices are reasonable, with a two course meal available for £19 pp at the time of posting. Bar prices are equally reasonable, and it was noticeable that Guernsey locals used the restaurants and facilities, which I've always taken to be an implicit recommendation!
The platinum rooms are large, very well appointed and extremely comfortable, but lack a balcony - but the rooms more than make up for the lack! The gold rooms come with a balcony, but are smaller, although just as well appointed, as are the silver rooms, which are almost identical to the gold rooms, but lack a balcony.
All the staff were extremely efficient and friendly.
The manager was considerate and friendly, giving you the impression that nothing was too much trouble .. in fact, on one day when the hotel's shuttle bus was not available, the manager himself turned out in full chauffeurs uniform to drive myself and my partner to catch the boat to Sark for a day out!
If you are disabled or have difficulty walking, then I would recommend you ask for a room in the main building, as the walk to and from the 'Venue' extension at the top of the hill is quite steep, although it passes through a well maintained and attractive garden.
The nearest beach is a 10 minute walk down a quite steep hill, but the reward is a breathtaking, quiet little bay facing towards Herm Island, with a little beach-side cafe that serves reasonable food. A cliff-top path leads from the bay into St Peter Port (about a 40 minute walk), through one of the local attractions, Bluebell Wood.

Highly recommended.

Everything was done to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The extra bathroom facilities for disabled guests made our stay easy, and the swimming pool was a bonus. The decor throughout the public areas is very tasteful. We would certainly like to return, maybe for our golden-wedding anniversary next June. Thank you to all the staff. Pat and John Goodhall.

My friend and I stayed at the Fermain Valley for one night last weekend. It is certainly a very beautiful and well appointed hotel, although we both thought our rooms were very pricey in view of their location. We stayed at the Venue and we were disappointed that our rooms overlooked the road and were directly above the cinema with a pub opposite. The film being shown last Saturday was "Star Wars", which is a long and noisy film. The film was apparently late starting and was still going at about 11.00 p.m. Neither of us was able to sleep and my friend, who was in the noisier of the two rooms had to contact reception three times before he was able to move rooms. It was just fortunate that there was a spare room available. Incidently, we heard no noise from the pub at all!

We were returning to Guernsey for the first time since our honeymoon there. Having decided to 'push the boat out' a little for this special occassion, we chose the Fermain Valley Hotel. We have just got back from the most amazing week there. Comfortable, clean, relaxed - the superlatives just go on! Chocolates, sherry and fruit in the room every day, and the most wonderful, friendly staff I have ever had the pleasure to come across.

We booked this as a short 3 night stay for our 1st time to Guernsey, within a day we were both wishing we had booked for longer. Fermain Valley is ideally situated, especially if you love walking. The steep hill to the Bay at the bottom is easily walked if you take the less steep path through the gardens. Just a 10 minute drive to St Peters Port and with a bus stop outside means getting around the island is a breeze. The staff are friendly, rooms clean and food very moreish. With all the site seeing we did not get chance to try out the pool, but it did look inviting....maybe next time. We fully recommend the Fermain Valley Hotel, especially if you want to relax in comfort.

Travelled to Guernsey for a few days break. Hotel exceeded expectations in everything - cleanliness, accommodation, food and staff. Nothing was too much trouble and the new addition of the Rock Garden puts this hotel a cut above the rest. A courtesy bus into St Peter Port was the icing on the cake.

We recently stayed at this stunning hotel for our anniversary and found it a totally wonderful experience. The views down the valley to the cove are beautiful, the food was delicious, the decor throughout the hotel and in our rooms was immaculate and the staff were all friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. What more could you ask for a special break away? Actually we loved it so much I've just booked a return trip - so that tells you how pleased we were. Well done Fermain Valley Hotel we look forward to visiting you again in a few months for another wonderful stay.

I have just returned from a fabulous 5 night stay at this first class Hotel. Prior to booking I did the usual research and for the reasons mentioned by many previous guests I decided it to be the best place to stay and I wasn't disappointed.
I travelled with my mum and two of her friends (I feel sure the staff will remember us for all the fun we had) - ladies from rooms 24 and 37 :).
The Hotel is immaculate in every way and is a real credit to the management and staff who ensure that it remains that way. The staff are superb and deserve an award for their customer service skills (I should know I quality manage customer service as part of my job). Sara and her team covering reception in particular, ensure that guests are well looked after, nothing is too much trouble. The Manager, Robert, is one of those you just know has that leadership quality which is reflected in the positive attitude of the staff, it is an atmosphere felt throughout the Hotel. Thank you Robert and Sara for making our stay so pleasant.
I read some reviews previously where guests have complained about the service being a little slow. I would just like to say that 'slow' can mean many different things depending how 'impatient' you are. I did not find the service in any way 'slow', surely you are on holiday to relax and enjoy a better pace of life and to appreciate the finer qualities of service, not rushing around. Equally, some guests made negative comments about the sherry in the room which was topped up every day, I think this is a wonderful 'touch' along with complimentary bottled water (sparkling and still) in your fridge every day. I have stayed in some 5 star Hotels where you do not get this and of course, costing a lot more money.

Finally, the Hotel is in a wonderful spot looking down the valley, to be woken up to nothing but bird song was a very relaxing experience. The rooms are decorated to a high standard and kept spotlessly clean, add all of that to the early morning sun streaming through the windows and you truly have a 'haven of peace'.

Robert, you have a 'gem of a Hotel, a credit to you and your staff, we will be most definitely back later in the year if not just to 'take over your lounge again'!!

We went with the Reddingtons party for Pete's 65th birthday bash. The hotel was in a brilliant location overlooking the sea, with lovely terraces to laze around on, and enjoy the service / food quality. We were well looked after by the friendly staff. Our flight was cancelled and we returned to Fermain where we were well looked after again. Love the cocktails and tappas in the Rock Garden.Highly recommend this hotel.

Rooms, service, food, hospitality all excellent. We will return in the Autumn. Robert Steen an excellent GM.

We spent our honeymoon in Guernsey in 1973, returned there for our silver wedding 25 years later and most recently celebrated our ruby wedding there. We had previously stayed at Le Chalet hotel and were initially disappointed at not being able to go back there because of its current refurbishment. The Fermain Valley, however, proved to be an excellent choice. Our room, a gold double, was comfortably furnished and spotlessly clean, had a balcony with stunning views over the valley and out to sea, a well-stocked hospitality tray and a selection of Elemis products in the bathroom. The photo of a gold room on the website had led us to expect slightly more space. The hotel facilities were excellent: a choice of lounges and restaurants, library and pool all appreciated. The staff were cheerful and enthusiastic but, and this our only gripe, seemed to lack training which led to some overly long waits in the restaurant, either between courses or for something as simple as a coffee cup to be refilled at breakfast. Perhaps this issue will be addressed as the season progresses.

We spent an idyllic 3 days at the Fermain Valley. A lovely room overlooking the sea with a huge, comfortable bed. A sherry decanter in the room was a lovely idea and we did have a glass or two on the hotel. We will definitely return

We have just returned after spending a week at the Fermain Valley Hotel in Guernsey. This is a super hotel just outside town and with superb sea views. The hotel is maintained in excellent condition and has great facilties including a nice indoor pool and sauna. We had a great room with balcony and sea view. The food at the hotel was really good and there is a choice of two restaurants, which are different in nature but both serving great food. However, the hotel'smain asset is its staff. Starting from Robert, the manager, right through all staff were excellent, and really made our stay pleasurable. There is even a private cinema if the weather is not good. All in all I would find this hotel difficult to fault and would recommend to anyone visit the island.

We stayed here aftter Bray Beach Hotel, Alderney as part of a 5 night two centre holiday. Like its sister hotel Fermain Valley offers guests a welcoming and comfortable stay in a beautifully restored accomodation. Our room (12), was spacious and well presented with a beautiful down the valley to the sea and Jersey beyond. A lovely 2-3 mile along the coast path takes you to St Peter Port.
The staff are friendly and helpful and the minibus service to town is very useful.
The food was of generally good quality and reasonably priced. We didn't have time to visit the pool or cinema.

A 4 stars hotel which is very elegant without any snobish attitude, with a very young and charming staff, elegant bedrooms, impeccable cleanliness... and amazing site in front of the sea. 2 restaurants (one looking like a lounge club) with very good meals, not too expensive.
Little inside warmed swiming pool and sauna, several quiet lounges and library, courtesy minibus... and private cinema room, ...so Fermain Valley Hotel is a perfect base for discovering the Saint Peter country!

Fermain Valley hotel snuggles in a small picturesque valley in the south west of the island. Unfortunately it is aligned with the easterly approach to the airport and so suffers from intermittent aircraft noise from early in the morning.
Our 'platinum' room was very spacious and well furnished, but as it faced the front of the hotel also experienced some traffic noise from both trade suppliers and arriving guests. The room is restricted to single glazing, apparently for historical reasons. We were surprised to find a broken and non-closing window, which in the increasing wind, blew open on several occasions. It was fixed efficiently although rather later than we would have preferred.
The restaurant provided a reasonable standard of food, although our table reservations were misplaced on two occasions. One evening meal was spoiled by the very slow service.
So overall we were disappointed. Our experience tends us to think that there is need for a general improvement in managerial oversight and efficiency. Until then we would avoid returning to what should be a very pleasant hotel.

Stayed 4 nights and can thoroughly recommend hotel: great location, superb views and very helpful reception staff. Gold room in venue was very comfortable, quiet and well equipped. Don't know what the decanter of sherry is about? Fridge with complimentary still and sparkling water, tea and coffee facilities well stocked.Great views down valley. Breakfast service good, tho don't know why they don't leave cafetiere of coffee to save having to keep asking for refills. Courtesy minibus is very useful: we used it to and from airport and drop off in St. Peter's Port. Had dinner in hotel one night but would not recommend it - there are far more interesting places in St Peter's Port. Swimming pool is added bonus on 1 wet day there were only us in it: lovely! Only 1 complaint: fire alarm went off at 8.00 a.m. and frankly response was a mess - no-one seemed to know what to do or take roll call: wouldn't like to be there in real emergency!

We've probably stayed at this hotel a dozen times over the years but then under a different owner. Much re-vamped now, and with the exception of the service now improved.
Stayed for four nights over the Easter period 2013. Just B&B so unable to comment on dinner. The food at breakfast was excellent. The service however wasn't! My feeling was that the staff were keen enough but they lacked training and clear leadership.
I did raise these issues with reception both on departing and during our stay. My criticisms were accepted and the point was made that they were all new staff. Not really my problem! I did however see that a plan was in place to improve the situation.Since we were brought breakfast's that we hadn't ordered we suggested that someone with a better understanding of English might take the orders. This wasn't just once it was more akin to a Brian Rix farce. Funny now, not then. So the problem was at management level, not the quality of staff. I'm sure these issues will be sorted out and the experience wouldn't stop me from returning.....
