We stayed at Fermain Valley over the Christmas period and have nothing but praise. The rooms are excellent and spacious with lots of little touches - decanter of sherry, fresh fruit, bath robes and slippers and tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfasts are substantial with a wide choice. The public rooms are tastefully furnished. Games and free computer access are provided. The view from the hotel are stunning. Hotels are often made or broken by the staff and the Fermain is very lucky in having an excellent staff whose one aim seems to be to make sure that guests are well looked after and treated as friends. If visiting Guernsey this hotel should be your No 1 choice.

I was only here over night and only saw it in the dark but it was a great hotel with nice staff. its location was on a hillside and again, bearing in mind it was dark, it looked to be a great location with great views.

I regularly visit Guernsey and have stayed in a range of different hotels. I found the Fermain Valley Hotel gold room very comfortable, clean with good facilities. The staff were helpful and the breakfast was very good. The hotel is in a great spot just out of town with wonderful views from the rooms at the front.

Stayed at the Fermain Valley for a long weekend to celebrate a friends wedding. The hotel and its staff made us very welcome indeed. The room was lovely and very spacious, with everything we could have wanted in terms of little luxuries, etc. the breakfasts were brilliant and very well cooked no matter what you wanted from the hot menu. We ate one evening in the 'Rock Bar' and had a super Chateaubriand which was beautifully cooked and presented. The front desk were very helpful and organised transportation in their minibus to drop us off and pick us up in town at no cost. They also ran us up to the airport as well in time for our plane back to the UK.

What a lovely hotel!!
I am local to the island but had never stayed over night before (just eaten at the Restaurants, which had always been good!)
On arrival the receptionist was very helpful and told us all about the hotel before personally showing us to our room.
The room itself was lovely, with beautiful decor and a balcony that over looked the woods and out to sea. It was a very clear day so we could see the neighbouring island of Jersey.
The room was clean and well equipped and even had complimentary Sherry, water, and a great selections of teas and coffees along with free Wifi which you don't often find in hotels these days!!
We used the swimming pool and ate in the main restaurant before having cocktails in The Rock Garden which is another place to eat in the hotel.
I would highly recommend the Fermain whether is a short break or holiday - great staff, great food - great place to stay.

Rosemary and I spent 5 days here in September. Overall, a very nice hotel, with good food, service and ambiance.

Be careful what rooms you book. The best are the most expensive: all face the sea, have balconies and are worth the money. We had the disabled room - only because it was available and the best remaining one for the view, but it didn't have the balcony. It made up for it by its size. Begin paying less, and you face away from the sea and look into a slope. Pay the least and you are not even in the hotel! You are in the conference/function annexe on top of the hill, and have to walk through the gardens to reach the hotels services.

The pool is small and indoors: attempts to open the sliding doors invariably met with resistance from other guests who preferred the fug of chlorine and steam. Don't rely upon it for a good swim! The sun deck is narrow, stepped and moves into shade quite readily in mid-late afternoon.

The gardens are lovely, but as the hotel is built on what seems to be a 1 in 4 slope, it takes a brave person to explore them all, as you need a rope and climbing boots to regain the hotel! Not quite that bad, but it is mighty steep.

The hotel is only about a quarter of the way down to the beach below, but that is still a few hundred feet down and back. Use your hire car and ignore the no entry signs half way down. Everybody else does. The bar/restaurant on the beach is good, but parking is limited.

One quirk of mine is that I like to have a toilet brush available in bathrooms, as I consider it utterly offensive to leave a dirty toilet behind for the next user - or the maids. Well, the hotel have a policy of not having any brushes, so, if I go back again, I'll have to pack some marigold gloves before getting stuck in. Daft - and inconsiderate, in my view.

We dined in one night, and whilst it was very pleasant, I felt that a few more choices would have been good. Perhaps they prefer to limit choice but do the choices well. It's a fair point. Breakfast is excellent.

Car parking is OK, but the one for the main hotel is a bit small. It might be necessary to use the annexe parking up on the main road.

We travelled as a party of 14 adults and teenagers to celebrate the Golden Wedding of our parents.

The oldies stayed for week Weds to Weds and the family stayed Friday to Sunday.

The island was very busy due to the 'Tennerfest Season' in which the hotel was participating. Consequently the hotel was also busy!

We were warmly welcomed and shown to our gold room which had a private balcony with seaview. The room was packed with complimentary items like Elemis bathroom products, a comprehensive selection of teas and coffees (including filter coffee and jug), bathrobes and slippers, fresh fruit and a decanter of sherry!!! Our room was warm, clean and had everything we needed to be comfortable. In fact - our room was too warm and we frequently had to open the balcony door to let in a healthy blast of sea air.

We ate all our meals in the main restaurant and they were all very good. The dinner menu was limited to the tennerfest set menu but it was quite comprehensive and everybody enjoyed what they had. For me personally, it was a little short of my 5 a day but nobody else seemed to mind. Breakfast was a mixture of self service and cooked to order. The eggs benedict was amazing. the Fermain Valley traditional breakfast was excellent and popular. Tea, coffee and toast just kept coming.

The boys all used the pool on Saturday afternoon and though on the small side, they all had fun and said the water was warm.

In the evening after dinner, we went to the Rock Garden bar. This was great - an excellent choice of drinks, even my favourite tipple 'tequila rose' was hidden in the fridge. The atmosphere was young and fun. A great place for a bite to eat or drink with friends. Good music and lighting with a lovely outside area for smokers with sofas and patio heaters.

The staff were great - very helpful and considerate. The General Manager looked after us very well and we felt gave a very personal and attentive service.

The location is beautiful. A very steep downhill walk takes you to the stunning Fermain Bay where you can follow the cliff paths either to St Peter Port or round to the more residential areas.

We have stayed here before and it was on our recommendation that the family returned, so I was pleased and relieved that everything lived up to expectations!

Well done and thank you everybody for helping to make a special occasion in our family such a happy one. See you soon....

We had a great 4 day break in Guernsey, first time for us, went with a couple of friends, and this hotel certainly stands up to its reputation. The staff were very attentive, the reception manager was more than helpful and nothing to much trouble, the room was spacious and the sherry and fruit a nice touch, we ate in the hotel every night, and the restaurant staff were excellent, nothing bad to say. Check out the gardens very nice.

My husband and I have just come home after a four night stay in this wonderful hotel. It was 5* plus on everything. The room was fantastic lots of little extras like sherry, fruit and bottle water in the room and lots of coffee tea chocolate drinks which were refreshed every day. The hotel had a warm and cosy atmosphere. The staff were all very very pleasant and nothing was to much trouble for them. The breakfast was very good and plentiful - lots of very nice things and varied.
The tennerfest was such good value lovely 3 course meals for only £12.50. It was just the break we were hoping for after such a busy year. WE CAN NOT WAIT TO GO BACK AGAIN. THANK YOU EVERY ONE THAT MADE OUR LITTLE BREAK SO PERFECT.

We recently stayed in the fermain valley hotel, I and my wife enjoyed the duration of our stay in this clean, spacious, modern facility, and well organised hotel. Although it was a short walk to the annex called VENUE were our big clean was located. We did enjoy the fresh air and looking at the beautiful trees while walking up the hill to our room. we will definitely come back to this hotel.
The staffs were excellent, particularly the guys at the reception. And also the guy that drove us to the museum/art gallery. We also enjoyed the Tennerfest meals.
We look forward to coming back to this excellent hotel in the summer.
A must recommend to people any day,any time.

We have just spent four nights at this lovely hotel, the staff were friendly and helpful, the room we stayed in was very big, clean and very well equiped. The breakfast was excellent, a good choice of cooked plus continental, fruit and yoghurt. We were there during the Tennerfest and ate in both resturants but particularly liked the Rock Garden as it was a more casual atmosphere and the waiter there, Tom, was particularly good, remembering that it was our anniversary when we ate there for the second time so he put a flower on our table. We didn't use the hotels bus as the only time we wanted it, for our return to the airport, it was unavalible, but the bus stop is just at the top of the road, with a good service, and the walk in to town is very pleasant, although I wouldn't want to walk back up the hill. The only thing, and this wasn't a problem for me as I had read previous reviews and went prepared, was the hotel being on the flight path, I came armed with earplugs and was not disturbed at all, just a tip.
I would highly recommend this hotel and wouldn't hesitate in booking if we were to come again.

just spent 4 nights here with my elderly mother. very nice hotel but not particularly friendly for lesser abled people. We had rooms in the main hotel which were very nice and comfortable and extremely clean. Not sure what the rooms are like in the annex (the venue).
We were there during the 'Tennerfest' so food extremely good value.

I recently stayed at the Fermain Valley Hotel on a quick trip and found the whole experience excellent

The food was very good, service excellent! you can always see when great teams are working together! the manager took off his jacket, cleared plates and served at peak times and he and his staff had a word for everyone.

The walk from the hotel down the valley to the sea was delightful! not too strenuous for a 70 year Old taking ten minutes to get back up a steepish incline The beach area was idyllic with a lovely cafe but it does close for winter.

The room was clean and well appointed so all in all my type of hotel.

I cannot wait to take my wife back for a few days and explore this lovely Island

We have just returned from a three day break at the Fermain Valley Hotel to say it was good is a understatement it was fantastic all the staff were excellent and the manager Robert was very friendly. we dined at the hotel all evenings and the food was fantastic all in all a very good break would have no hessatation in returning again but would rather fly next time than use the condor as we had a bit of a bumpy ride back still that was our mistake and nothing to do with the hotel.

The breakfast is excellent.
The view of the hotel is amazing.

My wife and I have just returned from our very first visit to Guernsey and we were delighted to find the Fermain Valley Hotel an excellent venue. We found the staff very friendly and helpful(they even offered to repair my wife's holdall which had been split on the journey to Guernsey and a good job they made of it as well!)
Unknown to us before we arrived was that our trip coincided with the annual 'Tennerfest' and consequently saw no reason to leave the hotel for evening meals - the food was excellent.
We were accommodated in a Gold Room at the front of the hotel with a wonderful view down the valley to the sea.
All in all we have no hesitation in recommending the Fermain Valley and have every intention of visiting again as soon as we are able.

The hotel was very comfortable and breakfast provided an excellent range of fruits, cereals, yoghurts and cooked breakfast selection. We dined in the restaurant in the evening, on two occasions and the food and service were excellent.
The staff, generally, were very helpful; although one particular evening when we requested to use the courtesy bus to travel into town, there seemed to be some confusion on whether it was in operation. We were told it was not running that evening, only to follow it to the exact same restaurant we were visiting. It contained only one passenger, there were three in our party and the bus can comfortably carry eight. Ordinarily, not a huge problem, but we were celebrating my husband's 50th birthday and this seemed a little unfair.
We did discuss it with the reception staff to be told that it only became available at the last moment, however, when we discussed it with the driver, he reported he was due to work until 11 pm that evening and was not aware of any difficulties with the bus running. Hmmm.
Another issue we had with our room was being woken on most weekday mornings by the delivery driver from a local food firm. We understood that these deliveries needed to be performed, but having the "clanking" sound of a trolley being dragged up and down the stairs at 8 am, right outside our room, was not conducive to a relaxing break !
We discussed this with the reception staff, who, in all fairness, promptly contacted the firm to demand that their staff were a little quieter in the mornings, however it didn't seem to make much difference.
Although I appear to be moaning (!) we did enjoy our stay at the Fermaine Valley. The staff in the bars and dining areas were very helpful and friendly and were only too happy to provide the little extra services we requested. Namely, having cheese and wine in our room on the evening of our Wedding Anniversary.
All in all, a very nice hotel and we are considering returning next year, when it is my mother-in-laws 70th birthday, however we will be selecting a sea view room !

The hotel was extremely comfortable and the food in both restaurants was superb. The hotel is just a few minutes drive from St Peter Port. The views from the hotel are gorgeous and the staff were all excellent. But I must mention the General Manager, Robert Steen, whose local knowledge was particularly useful to us; and Gavin, who was always most helpful and quite superb in dealing with my forgotten items.

We took a 3 night break with channelislandsdirect.co.uk, visiting family living nearby. It was superb value. Having never before needed to stay in a hotel in Guernsey, I was interested to see how this would be. I have only two criticisms, the beds are too small (5') and the Table d'hote menu was the same every night with only the most minute variations. The food could do with a bit of modernisation. The hotel is beautifully positioned and our room on the first floor, though small, looked across the valley garden and out to sea, wonderful views! The staff were friendly and helpful and it was immaculately clean and well cared for. It helped that the weather was superb but in any case, it would be a hotel well worth staying in & we would certainly return.

We took a "4 day for the price of 3" and stayed in one of the gold rooms. The room was well appointed and on the top floor with good view from the balcony to Jersey. The only negative was the size of the bath: sitting in this there was not space to even straighten my legs !
We tried the Rock restaurant that was good value, had very nice food- but this can be noisy according to how many groups are in.
The main restaurant is calmer with similar prices and very good food.
It was alleged there was also a Brasserie, but when we asked for this we were seated in the main restaurant with their menu.
Altogether though it was a nice hotel, although sited on finals for the airfield. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I would be happy to stay there again

My parents bought us an overnight stay and a meal at the Rock Garden, From the moment we arrived till the moment we left everything was perfect. The staff were all very helpful and polite and we where shown to our huge room by the manager on duty. Had a bottle of champagne waiting for us in the room which was a nice touch ! The room was spotless, the bathroom nice and modern.

Our meal at the Rock Garden was really good. Had some nice cocktails at the bar whilst we chilled out before our meal. Their menu is just about the right size, not too limited, and not too over the top. We were a bit gutted that all the Sushi had all gone, and that the main Sushi menu is only available on one day, but we chose the Hot Rock menu and got to cook some of the food at our table, which was something difference for a change. I guess their Sushi chef isn't there all the time. It's quite a brave thing to do Sushi in Guernsey, but i think there is a market for it and it should be on the menu full time.

The whole experience was brilliant - we are local, so doubt we'll be staying there again any time soon, but we'll definitely be going back to the Rock Garden with friends soon. It's a great atmosphere up there. Very trendy place and nice and relaxed. They have another more formal restaurant if that's what you want. We had a really nice Breakfast the next morning in the main restaurant just before we left to go home. Would of quite happily stayed 2 nights instead of 1 !

If you are coming to Guernsey on holiday, this would be a brilliant place to stay. Just outside the hustle and bustle of the centre of St Peter Port, and located down a small peaceful lane with a lovely view.

One of Guernseys best hotels i'd say. As a local, i can highly recommend it.

Keep up the good work guys.

My flight to Guernsey was cancelled when I arrived at Southampton Airport as a result of bad weather. When I contacted Fermain Valley Hotel they were well within their rights to require a cancellation charge but in the circumstances they waived that charge. Excellent public relations. I will endevour to rebook there in the future.

I would have given 5 out of 5 apart from a couple of little things. The hotel is on the main flight path so from 6.30am until about 9pm there is frequent aircraft noise directly overhead. However, you do tend to become accustomed to it very surprisingly!
The only other thing was that, having discussed rooms by telephone beforehand to ensure we did not get a room with extractor fans nearby etc., we unfortunately could hear the boiler firing up on the roof above us. Robert Steen the manager was very concerned and moved us to a room on the floor below and he could not have been more helpful.
The food at the hotel is excellent and not over expensive. I love the fact that breakfast is cooked to order - not one of these hotels that serves a buffet breakfast thank goodness.
The décor in the rooms is very tasteful and the housekeeping staff pay much attention to detail. Everything was really clean and pristine. All the staff are really professional, helpful and friendly.
The setting is wonderful sitting in a wooded valley looking down to the sea. The walk down to enjoy the beach and the café is well worth the up-hill slog back again! There is a great walk along the cliff path into St Peter Port that takes about 40 minutes, or you can easily walk into town via the road in 20 minutes.
If you don't want to hire a car Fermain is well placed for a great bus service that runs every 15 minutes (weekdays). The bus service on Guernsey is extremely good and the buses run on time.
Having toured the island we realised that Fermain was the best place we could have chosen for location. It is peaceful (apart from the planes) and it is so easy to get around. I think we may have felt a bit cut-off at some other hotel locations around the island.
You can also easily visit Herm or Sark for the day from St Peter Port which is well worth the effort.
The swimming pool is kept really warm, in fact I have never been in such a warm pool. It was more like a warm bath. The terraces are lovely to sit out on for drinks or food.
We had a lovely week. Thank you to everyone at Fermain Valley.

We would highly recommend the Fermain Valley Hotel. It is situated in an attractive valley from which a footpath leads down to the nearby bay and beach. It is also possible to walk in to St Peter Port in around 15-20 minutes but for those without a car who do not want the exercise there is a bus stop outside the hotel. Our room in the Annex was very comfortable with an excellent view down the valley and out to sea. The Annex is a short walk (up/down a hill) through attractive gardens with labelled plants to the main building where the main restaurant provides a good breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is also the separate Rock Garden restaurant that offers the option of meals cooked at your table on your own hotplate. The hotel has a small heated indoor swimming pool and sauna as well as extensive lounges and a terrace with tables offering a superb view. The service throughout the hotel was excellent.

We have just had the most wonderful stay here! I warned them beforehand that we have a number of allergies in our family and they were incredibly helpful, offering alternatives to various dishes or side orders and were very 'allergy aware' when discussing the dishes. Add to that they managed to bend the menu to suit a picky toddler and heated up my baby's food to perfection! They made the madness of a family of four on holiday with small children seem very easy and were always on hand with suggestions as to where to go or information on shops/attractions/etc... Special thanks go to Robert the Manager who really went above and beyond the call of duty to assist us, Eva in the restaurant for making mealtimes so enjoyable and Gavin for kickstarting it all on email and helping me to feel relaxed about our impending stay.
