We booked a Platinum room for my wife's birthday get-away, and had an absolutely wondeful time. The room was lovely, with little touches like the complimentary decanter of sherry adding something special. Gavin and the other hotel staff all were keen that we enjoyed our stay as much as possible, and for example took time to remember our names and always used them when addressing us - again, reinforces the personal touch this hotel promotes. This personal touch even extended to a bottle of wine and a birthday card left in the room for my wife from the staff when we returned from a day's exploring! We ate in the Ocean restaurant for evening meals (Rock steakhouse was booked for a private event on the night we arrived, and not open the following two...) and each and every meal there was wonderful - both in terms of generous portion size and quality. Gavin was also very helpful prior to our stay, offering to help out with a query with using bank cards locally (conflicting and as it turned out incorrect information from Lloyds bank suggesting we would be charged a forex commission charge for using our cards!) All in all, we had a perfect few days' getaway, couldn't fault the hotel or staff, and will definitely be back! Thank you all very much indeed.

I stayed in the hotel for 6 nights in the summer of 2014 with my wife and daughter of 11. The hotel is set in a superb location, surrounded by nature. It is rather isolated from the neighbourhood due to the very steep terrain with pretty much no neighbours along the way down to the beach. I highly recommend a walk down to the small beach at the end of the cul-de-sac where you can have a nice cup of coffee whilst admiring the amazing scenery. The hotel is also a very short (and nice) drive to St Peter Port. We met some people who actually walked the short distance.
Back to the hotel: the room was very clean and homely, the bed very comfortable, the bathroom very functional. The best thing I found was having breakfast on the terraces outside the restaurant: let yourself be enchanted by the songs of the birds in the trees and the view of the blue sea.
A few negatives however: if you're driving there, the car park is very small and fills up very quickly. There is an overfill car park further up the hill but the steepness of the walk makes it not a favourite choice. The other things I didn't like are the swimming pool which is too claustrophobic - not a big hit with my 11year old - but more importantly if you have been given a room above the Rock Garden bar, then be prepared to live with the noise/music until the bar closes at 2am. We tried to change room on two occasions but the hotel was full. Despite all that we had a great time and great memories from that stay. I would highly recommend it.

We stayed here in February for a couple of nights. The service was first class - receptionist showed us to our room to assure that we were happy.
Very attentive staff who were looking around to ensure that they picked up guests' requests quickly.

We have booked to go back at the end of this month as a package including airfares from Gatwick and car hire from the airport.

Stayed here for a short break in Spring 2014 (a bit late in writing the review!).
The hotel is in the most wonderful location, and in my opinion, one of the best locations in Guernsey. A short 5 minute walk down to Fermain beach from the main hotel, and most rooms in the main hotel have sea views.
Service was excellent, great food, and rooms were very homely.
All in all, a great stay, and probably one of the top hotels on the island, not to be missed!

Stayed here recently on a 4 night break, in a Silver room. The room was excellent, dual aspect, very clean & comfortable with a large bathroom. Particularly like the little touches of decanter of sherry, fruit & fudge on arrival.
The whole hotel was clean & smart with friendly staff.
We sampled both the Ocean and Rock restaurants. The Ocean food was very good with a reasonable selection & breakfast was again very good especially the Eggs Benedict Royale!
The steaks in the Rock Garden were absolutely delicious and particular mention of Simon who went out of his way to look after us.
Only small downside is the car park access which can be very tight if there is someone parked by the entrance....needs addressing somehow.
The bay at the bottom of the hill is well worth the walk.

Could not fault this hotel to be honest even down to the tea mugs in the room instead of tiny cups ! Staff were all very helpful, spotlessly clean, good facilities, bed really comfortable so all in all excellent ! There are some hotels that could learn a lesson or two from this one !!

Overall the staff were very helpful. This was only let down by the waitress at breakfast who for each day was sullen and failed to get the order correct for the cooked breakfast each day. The other irritation was the TV set that once turned off was difficult to get back on channel again ... Necessitating calling reception for help.
So putting that aside, and the fact the lounges were out of operation for redecoration everything was enjoyable. Platinum level room was well appointed, with excellent view .. Ours didn't have a balcony.. I see some do. Snacks ... Salmon sandwich or similar were good in bar. Only used the Ocean restairant for breakfast. Used the Rock Garden restaurant once .. See separate review.

My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend break in February/March 2015. This hotel is truly exceptional. The rooms are excellent, with lots of thoughtful extra touches. The view down the valley to the sea was awe inspiring.

A truly comfortable hotel with two excellent restaurants and a superb indoor swimming pool. The complementary lifts down into town are also an added and appreciated bonus.

The staff are friendly, attentive and anticipate your needs, but they are not overbearing: this is a comfortable hotel where you are made to feel at home, but pampered.

The walk down to the beach through the forest is to be recommended - the walk back up, though is something of an exertion, but good exercise!

I have nothing but praise for this hotel - there are lessons to be learnt here for some of the bigger chains whose services I often use.

I highly recommend this hotel.

A lovely generally peaceful location but directly on flight path. There are a lot of planes too and early in the morning. Plus cars pull up below the window late evening and early morning.
In the Ocean restaurant the staff are v young don't seem to have a lead. They would put toast on the table walk leaving empty cereal bowls come back with hot plates and not know what to do! Would be good to have own coffee pot as they pour a cup of coffee and never top up. The white wine was warm we were told it was all the same. On the way out the fridges were not even on. Very little atmosphere.
Where as the Rock garden has a fabulous atmosphere and wonderful staff.
Great having a courtesy car to St. Peter port.
Chambermaids very thorough and cheer generally.
We had platinum room (28) but no proper shower, chairs grubby, didn't warrant platinum friends had a gold (25) much better.

We have just returned from a wonderful three night stay at this Hotel. The service we experienced from every member of staff was second to none. We enjoyed the "extra" touches in our room and having the indoor pool to ourselves - so warm! The food, particularly in the Rock Garden, was lovely - the Argentine fillet steak was the very best we have ever tasted. We also enjoyed the cocktails in the Rock Garden - ask the friendly cocktail barman for a Scorpion, then stand well back! Even though we had a hire car, we used the hotel's complimentary chauffeur driven car service to St Peter Port on a few occasions. As with all the other staff, the drivers were efficient and friendly. We had such a relaxing holiday and would love to return later in the year to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

We have just spent a week here while visiting my mother, taking advantage of the offer that includes flights from Southampton. From the moment we arrived the service was excellent, with Gavin giving us a short tour of the hotel, which has recently been refurbished to an extremely high standard, everything looks fresh and modern, while still feeling cosy. Our Gold room was excellent with a beautiful view through the valley to the sea, where Jersey is visible on a clear day. It was wonderful to sit in bed with a cup of coffee and watch the sea, so in the summer it must be even better! The staff are really friendly and the housekeeping is excellent, our room was spotless and had usually been cleaned while we were having breakfast. We will certainly stay here the next time we come over and we hope the staff does not change. Thank you to all for making us feel so welcome, from room 31

Booked as a special offer - free flights from Southampton to celebrate my birthday. Hotel had upgraded our room .Very nice room 37( see room tips section ) Dual aspect included a balcony , overlooking Fermaine Bay.Room was delightful , bed a super king -an extra touch of complimentary Sherry in a decanter was very welcome .Staff and housekeeping staff were very attentive in getting us settled into our room. (Couldn't get the safe door open , working the TV etc ).

Indoor swimming pool with multi colour changing underwater lights was warm and very pleasant to swim in, which we did every day.Towels , shower and toiletries provided in the changing room, so no dashing through reception to get to your room to shower. Sauna available too but notice has to be given before use so it can be heated up.
Breakfast had plenty of choices hot or cold buffet.Coffee is served in small cups as you request it.The wait for a member of serving staff to appear was long sometimes. Perhaps the offer of a pot of coffee would be a good idea and a member of staff present in the breakfast area all the time would be helpful .
Restaurant manager was very apologetic after a muddly Sunday lunch of 3 courses. We booked for 4pm the day before as lunch was offered til 5pm. The restaurant had run out of Lamb ,Beef and the crab starter sadly - which would have been our choice. Salmon arrived undercooked and not poached as described but grilled or fried. Second salmon was perfectly cooked but again fried etc .The staff were very apologetic. On check out we were not charged for our meals. Full marks to Fermaine Valley Hotel.
Outside plentiful seating areas overlooking woods and Fermaine Bay -must be wonderful in warmer sunnier weather .
We had a wonderful stay and visit to Guernsey .We won't hesitate to book this hotel again if we return to the island.

We stayed over for NY. Gala meal was great as were staff. Made to feel v welcome and Rock Garden for cocktails pre and post dinner great. Cocktails in Rock Garden pre and post dinner good alternative to main bar. Room was superb overlooking Valley and well presented. Very relaxing stay and will do it again and use cinema next time. Breakfast was great and plenty choice. Never rushed and facilities were great all round the hotel set in the scenery of Fermain Valley. The rate as a local staying overnight was competitive and booking staff were v helpful compared to many we tried on the Island. Good work guys.

We spent the night of our daughter's wedding at The Venue. The accommodation can not be faulted. Everything that we may have needed was there! Such a pity that we were only there for the one night. If we have to be picky it would be that we had to check in to the main hotel rather than the Venue. Not a problem in the summer months but not so good when the weather is not at its best. We would certainly recommend this hotel and will probably spend a night or two in the Fermain Valley Hotel itself.

Got back yesterday from our 2nd visit in 3 months and I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel. They go beyond the "call of duty" to make sure you have a wonderful stay. The free collection from the airport, drinks on arrival, fab rooms, fab food, great staff. We made use of the free cinema & they even give you free popcorn. We will be back without a doubt

Having stayed at this hotel back in June, we thought we would book a Christmas break so we had the three-day Christmas package plus an extra day in order to qualify for the free flights.

We were not disappointed. The package was great with lots of excellent food and even a boat trip to the island of Herm on Boxing Day. It was quite an experience to be chatting with other guests by the beach, in shirtsleeves, drinking superb hot toddies on Christmas Day while Britain was freezing!

Again, we stayed in a Platinum room which was amazingly large and even had an old stone fireplace. One of the best hotel rooms we have ever had. Restaurant food and service were, once again, first class. On the fourth evening, we dined in the Rock Garden which is part of the hotel but mainly frequented by locals. It is a first-class steakhouse with steaks from around the world at reasonable prices. This place is buzzing and you need to book in good time. The steaks are superb and the South American steaks are chilled but not frozen in transit so none of the taste is lost. The wines are good, too. Regrettably, I only managed to sample one of the 28 gins available at the bar.

We will certainly be returning again soon.

An amazing hotel with lovely staff! On arrival we were greeted with a complimentary drink each and the very friendly staff booked us in. We stayed at the top of the hotel which is short walk to the top of the resort and into the building! (The venue) down stairs was the free cinema building which you can not hear when you are in the rooms above as we were! The food was excellent and brilliant facilities! Lovely place with lovely people! Would definitely recommend to everyone.

I stay away 3/4 nights on business and chose fermain valley after reading many positive reviews.
The hotel is accessible by bus from the airport (only £1) and a short walk downhill. Initial impressions are great, building exterior is immaculate and well maintained.
Check in process efficient and staff friendly. Informed of all the hotel facilities in depth and in a professional manner.
The room - wow. Make sure you have a sea view if you can splurge, massive bed beautifully presented in a spotless and modern styled room.
Pool and sauna well maintained and lovely after a long day.
Slept brilliantly, very quiet.
I will definitely stay again, a true gem in the island.

On arriving at the hotel late we were greeted with a warm welcome and shown to our room which was a lot smaller than expected and very hot and stuffy. On booking my partner emailed in advance to enquire about eating in the restaurant as it would be late. He was assured it wouldn't be a problem and we would be catered for. We made our way down and asked for a table to be told we had to be seated in the communal area outside if the main dining section. So we were left there isolated and feeling confused. The indifferent waiter took our order them returned a couple of minutes later to say our choices weren't available. We ordered again and waited a while for our food. It was ok but by this time we were tired and ready for bed. On returning to the room it was still very hot and stuffy and remained this way all weekend despite leaving the windows open. Breakfast was a bit like faulty towers, missing cutlery and staff who really weren't interested. The sausage was barely cooked and put me off the rest of the food. On day 2 we thought we try room service but again had missing cutlery so had to call for some more. By the time it arrived the breakfast was cold. I went for eggs benedict but the overpowering vinegar taste left it unedible. As the rate wasn't particularly cheap our overall impression was disappointment.
We would definitely return to Guernsey though.

We stayed here for two nights and had the msot relaxing time. We ate at the steak restaurant both nights and it was tasty and the staff were really pleasant. Breakfast offered a large variety of food and was brilliant but some of the staff could have smiled more. The pool is great and a nice warm temperature. The lounges are perfect for an afternoon read and the hotel room was lovely. We would recommend it and look forward to coming back.

By far the nicest and most pleasant hotel I have been to in years. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, the room was divine, the meals wonderful and so I could go on & on. I loved the conducted tour we were given of the hotel when we arrived. It was obvious that the staff have a lot of pride in working there.

The fermain valley hotel is situated on the main bus route about a ten minute trip from the main town of St peters port. Should you wish to go into town, notify reception about 20 minutes before and they may be able to arrange for their courtesy car to drop you down.
The hotel is situated in two buildings. The first and lower building houses two excellent restaurants along with indoor pool, bar, lounge (complete with library) and reception. The second building is situated up the hill on the main road (the venue), and houses not only 12 extra rooms but a cinema and meeting/conference facilities.
We Stayed for four nights first week in November, not overly busy (or so it seemed) however we found our selves, in a room in the upper building. This is was not a problem to us, but I would suggest to any potential guests with mobility issues and or heart conditions, to check you are In the main building, the walk from each building although not long is up hill all the way.
The rooms are extremely well appointed - fully equipped bathrooms robes, slippers, flannels, hair driers and all toiletries provided. Superior double rooms have ironing facilities, full tea and coffee facilities (big selection topped up daily), mini fridge containing, selection of bottled water (complimentary). Flat screen tv,s with basic sky box, and as an added extra, there is also a selection of fruit and a decanter of sherry for your pleasure, which is also toppled up daily. The whole hotel is served by free wifi.
We had a lovely stay, but for one thing- in the top venue building they do hold receptions and events and if you are unlucky enough to be assigned a room next to the function room, prepare for a long noisy night. The music and noise was so loud, that we could hear every word of every song, and the pictures and furniture in our room were actually vibrating. The following morning we expressed our disappointment at not being informed of the event, and or even being assigned that room, when clearly guests of the wedding could have taken that room and nobody would have been disturbed. This one disrupted nights sleep has stopped me rating this venue a full five stars. Overall very good!

We walked the cliff path from St Peter Port to Fermain Bay. This took us an hour to complete and were disappointed that the beach cafe was closed - opening at weekends this time of year.

A further trek up the hill and we saw this hotel. The food was good as were the immaculate surroundings and beautiful view.

My husband and I stayed here, we booked a silver room, we loved that we had a sea view when we thought it would be view of the gardens. The carpet had quiet a few stains on in our room, however the rest of the room seemed spotless! We got told we would have a fruit platter in the room in fact it was just 3 apples on a plate, not really what we had in mind of fruit platter. The shower is very powerful in the bathroom, my husband turned the power function the wrong way and the shower head flew off the holder and sprayed all across the bathroom! Dinner in Ocean restaurant tennerfest was lovely- very good value! We have breakfast included in the morning, unfortunately I had a hair in mine, but the problem was sorted straight away and I was given a fresh breakfast, which tasted good!
