I would have given this hotel 5 stars apart from one issue..... we were in room 51 which is in The Venue,up a steap path away from the main hotell
I was disappointed that we were not told of this when booking. I have recentley had a heart op so the excercise did me good,I am told, but for others it could be a challange.
Room 51 is lovely, more like a mini suite really with wonderful views across the valley and out to sea .it is on two levels so care must be taken at night but this is easily coped with.
Complimentary sherry is provided a lovely touch that i have never experienced before.
The staff are great and the food in both restaurants is superb but book early for dinner as they can get fully booked.
There is a courtesy hotel bus that will take you to the airport or into town although the regular bus passes the door, so easy we left the car in the car park and used the bus
Hopefully we will be back to Guernsey at some time and would definitely stay at the Fermain Bay Thanks to all the staff

From the moment we arrived we were struck by the beauty and relaxing feel of the hotel. The staff from many nations are exceptionally friendly & courteous. Our room had a balcony with a view of the valley, well worth having. The breakfast were first class with everything you desired. The Ocean restaurant had a lovely atmosphere & great food. The Rock Garden steakhouse had a great vibe with the possibly the best meals & drinks we've had in ages. The whole week at Fermain was a real treat and would really recommend !!

An excellent hotel with wonderful views over Fermain Valley. My wife and i have just had our third stay at this hotel, and had a superb time, The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. There are two restaurants available, The Ocean or The Rock Garden. The Ocean offers a varied menu, excellent service and a warm friendly atmosphere. The Rock Garden is a must for lovers of fine steak, cocktails and a livelier atmosphere. Best recommendation of all though is that we have already booked return visits.

A very high quality hotel with amazing views. Staff are extremely helpful with very high levels of service &!attention to detail. We ate in The Ocean restaurant which serves high quality food and the hotel Steak House with some of the best steaks that your ever likely to eat. Now for the negative comments - We stayed for a week to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary and were extremely disappointed to have been given a room above a noisy events space. Our first night was spoilt by a party of singing and smoking girls attending an event in the building. We complained the following morning and asked to be moved to another room, only to be told that nothing else was available, after asking if any other parties were booked in to their venue I was told that a further party of around 100 guests were in for another event that night. This is unacceptable service from a hotel that has disregard for customer comfort. Whilst the rest of our stay was fantastic, our wedding anniversary was spoilt by two nights of loud noise upon arrival and no advance warnings of noise from the hotel. Would we stay again? If we were located in the hotel main building, away from their annex called"The Venue" then yes we would. On the whole a superb hotel and fantastic staff, if only we could start again with a decent room!

Went there as two couples to celebrate our friend's 60th birthday. From the moment we were picked up at the airport by the courtesy bus and returned there some 3 days later the welcome and service was second to none. All the staff were were so friendly and attentive and especially the duty manager who was a fellow Welshman! The bedrooms were very comfortable and well equipped with the complimentary sherry a really nice touch. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the Rock Garden on the second night both of which were wonderful with top class service and food. The hotel is some 30 minutes walk along the coastal path from the center of St. Peter's Port and the views along there are a tonic in themselves. All in all a wonderful experience and hope maybe to return some day.

My wife and I visited The Fermain Vally Hotel for a week from 6th July. This is our second visit to the hotel, having stayed at the same time last year. The hotel is ideally situated for St Peter Port. A good bus service on the main road out side the complex. The hotel is divided into two buildings. The Venue is at the top and has its own cinema, which can be used at any time by the residents, as well as having rooms. The Main hotel is further down a well appointed garden. There is quite a steep pathway between each of the buildings.
Further down a steep hill from the main hotel is Fermain Bay with a very nice place to relax and have something to eat or just have a coffee or ice-cream. Once at the bottom you can walk over the hill to St Peter Port or over the hill the other way to Jerboug Point. These are two lovely places to walk with knowledge that there are places for refreshment at the end of each journey. Each walk takes about an hour.
The service at the hotel is excellent and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much. We met some of the staff who were there last year and it was good to see them again. We had a lovely room overlooking the sea through the valley to Fermain Bay. The food once again was very good. At weekends it is advisable to book dinner if on a bed and breakfast basis. Breakfast can be had on the terrace overlooking the bay as long as the weather is permitting. There is a swimming pool for use overlooking the bay.
The hotel has a courtesy bus which can be used to get about, and can be booked at reception.
I can honestly recommend this hotel if you want to be looked after properly by people who care that you are enjoying yourself. My wife and I will certainly go back again to this hotel. Once again thanks to all the staff for making our holiday special again.

I stayed at this hotel last weekend on the recommendation of a business contact on the island. The thing that strikes you most on arrival is the stunning view down the valley to the sea.
This hotel is really made up of two separate areas – the main hotel and the Venue. The main hotel has rooms with balconies overlooking the bay which I would describe as elegant and relaxing. The rooms in the Venue are on the top road with no balconies which I would describe as modern and loud.

I stayed in room 50 in the Venue which was very spacious with a separate sitting area. The hotel is of a high standard providing an excellent selection of teas/coffee/biscuits/fruit/slippers/robes and a decanter of sherry. The only downside to this room was the very noisy function that took place on Saturday night. Great if you were a guest at the function but not so good if you are a guest at the hotel looking for quiet restful break. The hotel is clearly aware of the possible disturbance and tried to limit the noise by closing the doors to the function room but whilst lying in bed at 11.15pm you could still clearly hear and feel the music thudding through the room.
Notwithstanding the above I would definitely recommend this hotel as the food in the Rock Garden and Ocean were excellent and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. Many thanks to Jeanne & Veria on reception for their help.
The gardens are exceptional and it’s lovely to sit reading and soaking up the amazing view to the bay. Location is everything.
The lesson learnt from this stay is to call the hotel direct when trying to select a room. For my next visit it will be in the main hotel with a balcony to make the most of the surroundings.

We were guests at a wedding here, and the organisation for the wedding was excellent. Very well organised, and the room layout for the reception was exceptionally well done. The shuttle bus service was an additional and much appreciated bonus.
Our room was well equipped and clean, but not air conditioned, which was not ideal given the very hot weather. We were supplied with a fan, but the temperature of the room remained rather uncomfortable in the late daytime.
The manager on the day of our arrival (July 3rd) was incredibly helpful. We had failed to understand that the Venue rooms had no lift access, and were therefore unsuitable for an elderly guest. This was sorted very efficiently for us, and another room found.
Overall, highly recommended

A lovely hotel overlooking the sea, so great views from the room balcony and the terrace bar. The room was nicely furnished and an adequate size, however it was smaller than the picture on the website, which was a bit misleading. On the positive side the courtesy shuttle service was excellent and between that and the brilliant bus service on Guernsey we didn't drive the car all week, which made it so much more relaxing. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Very good food in both restaurants, make sure you book in advance, particularly for the Rock Garden as it is open to the public.

Spent 5 days at this simply delightful Hotel. Lovely atmosphere, gorgeous public areas/restaurants/bars, classic rooms with the most perfect setting on the Island. All staff extremely helpful and very relaxed. Although the Ocean Restaurant was lovely, the Rock Garden Steak Restaurant was quite unbelievable and beyond on expectations. Can't wait for a return visit!

Fermain Valley Hotel is a stunning Hotel , with a very good Location overlooking on the sea. There are two restaurants : The rock garden is a lovely steakhouse with authentic meat. And the Ocean restaurant is a famous restaurant, the service is just perfect between Karol the Manager who was very kind, amusant and he took care of us, and Romain the assistant Manager was professionnel he recommend dishes and wine.
And finally the reception was also perfect Jeanne the french receptionist was very kind, always with the smell and she was all the time here for us.

This was our third visit in a year and, once again we were not disappointed. Superb location and great food, particularly in the Rock Garden (see separate review). I forgot to say in the Rock Garden review that the fish is just as good as the steak, which is saying something.

We had previously stayed in a Platinum room but this time we booked a Gold room as they have balconies and it was summer. We realised beforehand that the rooms, particularly the bathroom, would be smaller than a Platinum room and I think, on balance we would in future sacrifice the balcony and book a Platinum room but that is just a personal view - the Gold rooms are still excellent.

Staff as helpful as ever and there is no stuffiness about the place - it's a very relaxing place to stay and the perfect location on the island. We didn't sample the new coffee shop/tea room but it looked very good.

Highly recommended.

Stayed in a Gold room in the main hotel. The room was massive and really clean. Even though we are from Guernsey it felt like we were far from home! Lovely location and lovely staff. The food in the Ocean Restaurant was great too! Would def recommend

The room was elegant and luxurious. The bathroom was very spacious. The views from the terrace bar overlooking the valley to the sea were stunning and my husband and I spent many relaxing hours there. The cocktails at The Rock garden were very good and the entertainment factor of both cocktail waiters high. The Oysters and Lobster at the Ocean restaurant were sublime. The attention to detail of all staff was excellent and I have already recommended this hotel to quite a few of my friends and would not hesitate to return in the near future.

The hotel is amazing, staff extremely friendly and helpful. Met at the port by the hotel's shuttle service and whisked to the hotel. Shown around the hotel by Jeanne and offered a glass of Prosecco. Large room with a fab view of the fermain bay. Two restaurants on site serving excellent food. Complimentary sherry in the room - a lovely touch especially for those who enjoy a glass of sherry before dinner. Lovely swimming pool on site as well. Breakfast includes continental buffet and also cooked breakfast options. Shuttle service available but need to book well in advance. There is a bus service 5 minutes walk from the hotel or you can walk to St Peters Port either by the roads or by the coastal path. Had a fantastic 5 day holiday at the hotel and would recommend this hotel for others to stay at.

This a great hotel at the top of a secluded valley on the east of the Island. It's an easy 10 min walk down to the pebble beach, which also has a beachside cafe (open from 0900-2000) located there

The hotel does offer a shuttle service to various places, but we found that unless you booked days in advance, it was often difficult to book the shuttle because it was already being used. We did get picked up at the harbour on arrival and dropped off at the airport on departure which was great. Walking to St Peter Port is fairly easy 35 mins via road (almost all downhill) or about 45 mins via the costal footpath (not suitable for disabled or pushchairs).

Several buses go past on the main road from/to town or 91/92 takes you the £1 trip around the island, 91 goes clockwise, 92 goes anti-clockwise.

Fermain Valley Hotel is a smart, clean, nicely decorated and furnished to a high standard. It has about 40 rooms in the main building. On our arrival, we were met outside by the Manager, shown around the hotel by the receptionist, Jeanne and provided with a complimentary glass of prosecco . Two restaurants on site, the Ocean which is available for breakfast (buffet and very good with hot food to order) and evening meal. Prices are about the norm, £18-22 for a main course. Also available is the Rock Restaurant, a steak and seafood place with a wide range of steaks available from different countries. The food is of a high quality, the staff very efficient and friendly. Only once did they let us down with taking so long to take our desert order that we had to ask, but it was an isolated occasion. We walked to the Best Western Havelet Hotel once, about 25 mins and had a super meal in the Havelet Grill (review available).

We had a platinum room, a vast bedroom with a wonderful window view of the sea. The room was well furnished with complimentary sherry topped up every day. The bathroom was a little small with a bath and not a shower. We were really happy with the room. There was a turndown service in addition to the daily room servicing. The usual coffee and tea making (I have never seen so many different types of tea available in the room) and biscuits. We had a problem with the room safe and despite the staff trying to fix it on three occasions, I had to advise them each time they had failed. In the end, I told them perhaps it is something they could resolve for the next lucky resident.

One thing which seems to have gone unnoticed in previous reviews is that the hotel is on the direct flight path for the airport with incoming flights starting at 0630 and continuing to about 2100. The noise was very noticeable, i suppose there may be 30 aircraft in a day. On Sunday evening, we had about 10 come over in less than 2 hours. I would suggest the runway is about 3-4 miles away as the crow flies or aircraft in this instance, therefore the aircraft are quite low. Sometimes they will land from the west so you are then affected by aircraft taking off which is not so noisy as those landing. Now I don't mind looking at aircraft and am normally awake early so for us it didn't matter, but I suspect some will not be forgiving!

Would I come here again, absolutely yes, great place, friendly and efficient staff & management, certainly one of the better hotels we have visited.

The view from the backside of the hotel into the valley is amazing. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Facilities of the hotel are decent. Rooms are huge. Probably the single drawback is the noise on the roof of the backside that you can here on the top floor corridor.

Just arrived back from a wonderful weekend break in Guernsey. Stayed at the Fermain Valley Hotel, this hotel is just beautiful, the gardens and the views towards the bay are just fabulous.
The staff were very accommodating extremely pleasant friendly and very professional nothing seemed to be to much trouble for any of them.
The food was very good with lots of atmosphere in the steak house.
The overall cleanliness of the hotel is exceptional , and the quality of the linen and the products in the bathroom are lovely.
This hotel is a must its just a lovely place to stay and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
We will be back again next year.

Just returned from 2 weeks on Channel Islands spending our first week here at this comfortable hotel in a delightful setting with superb views. Generally the service was first class and our thanks go to Gavin for his efforts on all fronts including the provision of free transport when ever possible even to and from rival restaurants. The Rock Gardens steak house simply buzzes with atmosphere and enthusiasm led by the professionalism of Simon and the great personalities of the 'scouser' brothers throwing the cocktails. The main restaurant we found acceptable but lacked a degree of atmosphere perhaps due both to setting and some rather inexperienced staff. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel as a well situated and comfortable residence for our extremely enjoyable holiday and we would return here. See review of sister hotel Braye Beach Alderney where we spent second week.

Very nice. Stayed in The Venue which is nearer to the road at the top of the valley and close to the 91 and 93 Bus stop. Nice clean new room with good view and Sky TV. A short steep walk through Eden Project inspired garden to main Hotel was fine and the food really good at Breakfast and Dinner. Tip if you want to eat at either of the two restaurants book as early as you can. They are very popular as the food is great and everything is new still. At the bottom of the valley is a nice pebble beach with a great cafe. I know it's hard to believe but it's all true. There's a moderate mile walk along the coast to St Peter Port. Or going South a nice walk to Jerbourg and Petit Port. Didn't need a car as buses and taxis are good. We don't normally repeat holidays but could do this again. The only downside was the FlyMayBe return flight was cancelled and we jumped onto the Condor Ferry. Which was great.

We've just returned from a five-night stay at the Fermain Valley where quality is delivered in every detail by staff who combine professional and personable skills in equal measure. We stayed on a platinum package, with a room with balcony overlooking the bay, with flights from London Gatwick and airport transfers in Guernsey included. We were impressed with the hotel from the minute we were met by the Ferman's wonderful driver - a terrific ambassador for the hotel. He has a winning combination of charm and calm - and is endlessly knowledgeable about the local area, down to advising on which bus stops will be least crowded if trying to board the 'round the island' 91 and 92 bus routes. The rooms are well-equipped (good teabags, towelling robes and slippers, decanter of sherry, great The White Company toiletries) and very, very clean. The meals in the Ocean restaurant were consistently excellent, served in a very relaxed atmosphere. The design of the hotel is great: the indoor pool is downstairs, but fronted by huge retractable windows that we assume open out onto the terrace overlooking the bay in warmer weather. And on evenings when there aren't events at the hotel's The Venue conference centre, guests are free to use the fabulous private cinema to view the hotel's extensive DVD collection. We chose Les Miserables, to round off a day featuring a visit to Victor Hugo's home on the island. We would highly recommend the Fermain Valley to, well, everyone.

My wife and I stayed for five nights in one of the Gold rooms overlooking the terrace and valley. The hotel was excellent and much better than our expectations and we would wholeheartly recommend it.
If we had one criticism it would be the restaurant staff, without a floor manager on duty there was a definate lack of direction. On one of the evening we ate in the Ocean restaurant and it was the old story of the fewer tables to serve the slower the service. Romain when on duty was excellent and is a great asset.
All in all a very nice hotel with fabulous food and a perfect location.
Gavin and the reception staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Me and my girlfriend have just stayed here for a night away and what a perfected visit it was from from the time of booking to the time of perfected cocktails by both Sam and Ben in the rock garden and the amazing style of meat in a non rosette restaurant the decor of the bedroom was absolutely perfect even due to a "cheaper" room with out a balcony with a spectacular view anyone who stays here will no doubt love there stay and want to one back cause I defiantly will

My brother had his wedding here on the 25th April 2015.

The hotel is beautiful, it is decorated in a modern tasteful way.
The gardens are stunning too, with beautiful views down the valley and onto the sea.

The staff were fantastic, you couldn't ask for anything more, they were friendly, attentive and exceptionally welcoming.

The MC for the wedding and Food and Beverage manager, Karol was amazing, he took care of everyone especially my brother, constantly available and always looking out to make sure his every need was catered for. Service was seamless, everything ran perfectly. Karol hosted the day wonderfully, making it a memorable day for everyone!

The food was perfect too, it tasted exquisite and no delays or complaints.
All in all a wonderful day at a beautiful hotel.

Thank you to Karol and his team for making this day so special for my brother and his newly wedded wife!

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate my 50th birthday on May 9 and our Wedding Anniversary (also on May 9). We come every year because (i) my father and his family come from Guernsey and (ii) what better way to celebrate your Birthday and your Wedding Anniversary than on an island that throws a huge Party every May 9th.
We chose the Fermain for one reason only. I had 'heard' - via Twitter - of (arguably) the best Restaurant on Guernsey "The Rock Garden" which forms part of the Hotel Campus.
We were not disappointed. The Hotel is beautiful. Clean. Modern understated elegant decor. Great staff. All in all worth every penny. We will definitely return.
