Very nice. Stayed in The Venue which is nearer to the road at the top of the valley and close to the 91 and 93 Bus stop. Nice clean new room with good view and Sky TV. A short steep walk through Eden Project inspired garden to main Hotel was fine and the food really good at Breakfast and Dinner. Tip if you want to eat at either of the two restaurants book as early as you can. They are very popular as the food is great and everything is new still. At the bottom of the valley is a nice pebble beach with a great cafe. I know it's hard to believe but it's all true. There's a moderate mile walk along the coast to St Peter Port. Or going South a nice walk to Jerbourg and Petit Port. Didn't need a car as buses and taxis are good. We don't normally repeat holidays but could do this again. The only downside was the FlyMayBe return flight was cancelled and we jumped onto the Condor Ferry. Which was great.

We've just returned from a five-night stay at the Fermain Valley where quality is delivered in every detail by staff who combine professional and personable skills in equal measure. We stayed on a platinum package, with a room with balcony overlooking the bay, with flights from London Gatwick and airport transfers in Guernsey included. We were impressed with the hotel from the minute we were met by the Ferman's wonderful driver - a terrific ambassador for the hotel. He has a winning combination of charm and calm - and is endlessly knowledgeable about the local area, down to advising on which bus stops will be least crowded if trying to board the 'round the island' 91 and 92 bus routes. The rooms are well-equipped (good teabags, towelling robes and slippers, decanter of sherry, great The White Company toiletries) and very, very clean. The meals in the Ocean restaurant were consistently excellent, served in a very relaxed atmosphere. The design of the hotel is great: the indoor pool is downstairs, but fronted by huge retractable windows that we assume open out onto the terrace overlooking the bay in warmer weather. And on evenings when there aren't events at the hotel's The Venue conference centre, guests are free to use the fabulous private cinema to view the hotel's extensive DVD collection. We chose Les Miserables, to round off a day featuring a visit to Victor Hugo's home on the island. We would highly recommend the Fermain Valley to, well, everyone.

My wife and I stayed for five nights in one of the Gold rooms overlooking the terrace and valley. The hotel was excellent and much better than our expectations and we would wholeheartly recommend it.
If we had one criticism it would be the restaurant staff, without a floor manager on duty there was a definate lack of direction. On one of the evening we ate in the Ocean restaurant and it was the old story of the fewer tables to serve the slower the service. Romain when on duty was excellent and is a great asset.
All in all a very nice hotel with fabulous food and a perfect location.
Gavin and the reception staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Me and my girlfriend have just stayed here for a night away and what a perfected visit it was from from the time of booking to the time of perfected cocktails by both Sam and Ben in the rock garden and the amazing style of meat in a non rosette restaurant the decor of the bedroom was absolutely perfect even due to a "cheaper" room with out a balcony with a spectacular view anyone who stays here will no doubt love there stay and want to one back cause I defiantly will

My brother had his wedding here on the 25th April 2015.

The hotel is beautiful, it is decorated in a modern tasteful way.
The gardens are stunning too, with beautiful views down the valley and onto the sea.

The staff were fantastic, you couldn't ask for anything more, they were friendly, attentive and exceptionally welcoming.

The MC for the wedding and Food and Beverage manager, Karol was amazing, he took care of everyone especially my brother, constantly available and always looking out to make sure his every need was catered for. Service was seamless, everything ran perfectly. Karol hosted the day wonderfully, making it a memorable day for everyone!

The food was perfect too, it tasted exquisite and no delays or complaints.
All in all a wonderful day at a beautiful hotel.

Thank you to Karol and his team for making this day so special for my brother and his newly wedded wife!

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate my 50th birthday on May 9 and our Wedding Anniversary (also on May 9). We come every year because (i) my father and his family come from Guernsey and (ii) what better way to celebrate your Birthday and your Wedding Anniversary than on an island that throws a huge Party every May 9th.
We chose the Fermain for one reason only. I had 'heard' - via Twitter - of (arguably) the best Restaurant on Guernsey "The Rock Garden" which forms part of the Hotel Campus.
We were not disappointed. The Hotel is beautiful. Clean. Modern understated elegant decor. Great staff. All in all worth every penny. We will definitely return.

I stayed here for just one night on a business trip. A few more nights would have been happily accepted! Beautiful room with a lovely view from the balcony. Room had everything you could have needed and felt very homely. A lovely meal and great breakfast in the restaurant. All in all a very comfortable stay

we only had the time to spend two nights at this lovely hotel. It has got everthing you want, pool, sauna which we thoroughly enjoyed, a busy cocktail bar with friendly staff, say hello to ben and his brother. And a lovely restaurant if you wanted a quit dinner. It was both our birthdays when we stayed and was made to feel so welcome. Had a great time.

We enjoyed all aspects of the hotel. The staff whilst friendly were courteous and ensured everything was to our liking, yet unobtrusively, which is how we prefer things. The breakfast choices were ample and we especially enjoyed the kippers and poached eggs that we followed with fresh fruit and yoghurt. I follow a wheat and gluten free diet and this presented no problems and toast was provided each morning. The room was perfect and beautifully clean and had a wonderful view over the valley from the balcony and we enjoyed the complimentary sherry, fruit and fudge. We swam most mornings and evenings and found the pool location wonderful, with full width doors opening out to a balcony welcoming in the morning sun and subtle lighting creating a romantic feel in the evening as well as a sauna. We used the complimentary ride into town although also enjoyed the walk both to and from town along the cliff path to fully enjoy the views. Lying in bed listening to the birds was wonderful and the gardens are beautifully maintained and lead down to Fermain Valley which is one of my most favoured bays, not just in Guernsey. Whilst we did not have the opportunity to use the steak house grill we heard locals enthuse about the food served. All we needed was a quiet relaxing break and staying at Fermain Valley Hotel surpassed all our expectations.

Room 25 was tastefully appointed and benefited from a private balcony offering wonderful views of the tree lined valley going down to the sea. The hotel is kept in immaculate condition and the decor is classy and elegant. The library and sitting room are wonderful places to relax when the weather is not too good. When the sun is out the terraces offer plenty of seating with views down the valley and across the sea to Sark.
The Ocean Restaurant is used for breakfast, lunch and dinner where we enjoyed well cooked produce; especially the local sea food of an evening. The waiting service during our first dinner and breakfast was a little lax but for the remainder of our stay, when Romain was on duty, the level of service rose to the high standard offered else where in the hotel. There is a 2nd restaurant specialising in steaks and cocktails that we did not use.
All together a very good hotel in a lovely position; I would recommend.

We liked the photos of the hotel and booked a Platinum deal for four nights. The parking is the first let-down as it is on a very steep and narrow road. One stress to come across another car. For a Platinum deal, we expected a room with a balcony but we were not given one. Staff was kind and helpful , in general. Restaurant is 2-3 stars although I can give a 3 and a half stars to the hotel quality. Unimaginative bad salads, not even a good fish and chips... Breakfast was generally OK. Restaurant really needs a new management. We hoped the same quality as St. Brelade's Bay Hotel in Jersey but I guess it is not possible to find that quality in Guernsey because we really searched from internet to get such quality.

This very nice hotel was only let down by failing to meet the expectations created by the misleading images on their website. On a personal recommendation we stayed for a three night break to celebrate our anniversary and chose a Gold room from the hotel website as they looked very spacious - in fact the room (33) we had was quite small with a tiny bathroom. The Staff were generally excellent but, when I challenged them about our small room vs their own images, they said that the photos on their website were taken with a "wide angled lens"! The hotel was very clean and decorated to a high standard. The breakfast was excellent however, the cold selection was set up in the full sun of a large window with no refrigeration. Similarly we had dinner in the restaurant one night which was quite expensive compared to local prices but nice however, the menu did not change for the three nights we were there. The complimentary Taxi Car service was a joy and the Fermain Valley is in a great location from which to explore the island.

This is, without question, a wonderful hotel. Stayed here for two nights on a visit from neighbouring Sark, booking at very short notice. I was allocated a "Gold" room (mid range accommodation). The room was large, with a very comfortable bed and two easy chairs, as well as all the "usual" facilities. An over-bath shower can present problems as I have a slight disability, but two additional "grab handles" were fixed to the tiling around the bath, which made accessing the shower considerably easier. I was met at the quay and driven to the hotel. The following day I wanted to do some shopping in St Peter Port, and also had a medical appointment. Again, a hotel car was provided - all at no extra charge. Food and drink in the Ocean restaurant were great, both for dinner and breakfast. A decanter of quality pale cream sherry was provided as part of the "in room" refreshment package, as well as the usual tea, coffee etc and a supply of still and sparkling bottled water in an in-room fridge (again, at no extra charge).
All the staff are great. Viera on reception was superb, giving me a tour of the public rooms before taking my bag to my room and making such everything was in order. I have already booked an overnight stay for next month, for my return from a visit to the UK mainland. A really big "thank you" to the management and staff. The General Manager, Mark Harris, is very much "hands on", and it shows throughout the hotel. He is a delightful man who obviously inspires his staff. As I said, I shall be back!

From the moment we arrived Gavin was most helpful, showing us around and explaining walks, beaches, buses etc. The staff are most accommodating and very knowledgeable about the various events on the island and the courtesy car is brilliant.
The one fly in the ointment was the piped music in the hotel and on the terrace, for such a peaceful hotel it would have better without it. That said we would return and recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to be a little way away from the bustle of St Peter Port
We were there on a half board basis.
GREAT STAY

This brilliant hotel is nestled into a picturesque bay where the only sounds you'll hear are the birds, sea and a small stream.

The rooms are spacious and come with niceties such as wine, bottled water and chocolates.

Breakfast has a great selection of continental choices.

One downside is that certain members of the breakfast team and and bar staff are not overly friendly and quite frosty. This is a shame as the rest of the staff are very friendly.

I would clearly stay here again and hope you do too!

Just about to check out from this truly amazing hotel. We have stayed in some first class hotels and what sets one fine hotel apart from another can be a subtle differences, but you know when you have experienced a great one. First of all you know your visit has been great when you are properly rested at the end of your stay!

This hotel gets all the key factors right. The experience is personal; from the moment you arrive to when all you needs are looked after and nothing is too much to ask.

The location is wonderful and there is a short walk down to Fermain bay which is amazing bay to rival the best Cornwall has to offer. The hotel provides a free taxi service to all nearby locations and will pick you up with 15-20 minutes notice. Being close to St. Peter's port means is easy to get the boat across to Herm (amazing beaches) and Sark. Both lovely islands and very different. You need a long day (or two) to do Sark properly! We hired bikes which was great fun and easy going for all.

The hotel itself is charming, clean and styled well through the different buildings. Rooms were very conformable, modern bathrooms with plenty of water, safe and tea / coffee making facilities. Having a private cinema with a member of staff to provide drinks and popcorn to order made was brilliant!

What really set's this hotel apart is the level of service. Staff were always available when needed, ready to offer advice, find ways to make your stay more enjoyable, but also had that talent of disappearing into the background when you don't want to be disturbed.

We ate the in the Ocean restaurant several times and the food was excellent. As vegetarians we spoke to the chef several times throughout the stay and he was always prepared to suggest dishes we might enjoy. We were never confined to the menu whether we were eating breakfast, lunch or diner. Nothing was too much effort.

There is really nothing this hotel needs to do any better. Superb! Every effort has been invested in the hotel to make it a great place to relax and it is staffed by people who really understand service. All at great value too.

Thanks to all the wonderful staff, and Gavin & Greg in particular, we had a superb relaxing and luxurious stay. The gardens designed by a manager with the Eden Project were decked with primroses and the breakfasts, dinners and especially the quality of the fish, made it a very memorable holiday and very appropriate for a honeymoon.
The complimentary transport via Nick whenever we wanted a lift was timely and courteous, and the icing on the cake was the private cinema experience, complete with popcorn.

I had eaten a sandwich lunch on a previous visit and remember some lovely views of the sea. This time we stayed there over the Easter break and were really impressed.
Staff were very welcoming and helpful. We were taken on a guided tour by Viera. Our room was a bit of a distance away in the annexe and our daughter and her friend stayed in the main building. The rooms were elegantly furnished and looked classy. Complimentary bottle of sherry, fudge and apples in the room were a nice touch. The views of the sea were spectacular. We never got to use the complimentary movie theatre, the pool or the sauna as there was so much to do around the area!
The cliff walk into town was spectacular with lovely views.
Breakfast was lovely with eggs Florentine, benedict etc on the menu A complimentary car to the airport was again a lovely touch.
There were two restaurants on site but we ate at the Oceans restaurant which was excellent. There was also a very popular steakhouse on site.
The annexe is next to the venue which is a place which people hire for parties and it was noisy till midnight but we slept well having walked a good few miles during the day!

Booked as a surprise birthday present for my husband & it was indeed better than I anticipated. We arrived post walking to Lihou & were allowed to order lunch at 2.30 pm close to the end of lunch at the Ocean. It was SO impressive I'm still salivating over the steak, gambas, cracking valley salad, kale & asparagus. We stayed in a gold room which had everything you could wish for - great view of the valley, balcony to watch the sun go down, composite breakfast tray with everything you need. Sweet touches were the complementary bottle of sherry, local fudge, apples & water!!! Unbelievable. Lovely walk down to fermain beach (note you can now only park there with a permit so maybe not for the less able). We dined at the Rock Garden for dinner and loved the fact 1 hotel could offer 2 completely different dining experiences which were equally as wonderful. Rock Garden is more of a dinner place as the atmosphere, decor, steaks steaks & yet more steaks are a must here. You'll need to book as very popular. Although plenty for carnivores there are many fish alternatives & the oysters were great value. Sides are all super priced at £3.50 for the portion size. Drinks pricey but then they do pride themselves on being a cocktail bar. Bed super comfy & the swimming pool nice extra for the next day (warm for those who hate cold pools). This review would not be complete without the mention of the lovely staff here. From check in staff (Kim & Marianne) to the Ocean / Rock staff. Breakfast is also great value if staying at the hotel (pricey if non resident £13.50). Everything you would want from a hotel breakfast. Without a doubt I would stay here again.

Just returned from Guernsey and a 3 night stay at Fermain Valley. What a treat to discover its own little bay 5 mins downhill, could imagine in summer this is just perfect. The hotel itself is brilliant. Our room was lovely and had everything you needed. You can have breakfast brought to your room at no charge but why miss the amazing buffet selection as well as a choice of cooked dishes. Nothing is too much trouble and I saw many variations of the menu brought out. We had dinner 2 nights in Ocean and the standard was excellent. Used the swimming pool, which opens out onto a decked area for the hotter months and used the towels provided and even the bags to put your wet swimsuit in. The hotel will pick up and drop off from airport and take you to St Peter Port, which is 8 mins drive. This is a money saver, no taxis required. Would definitely recommend.

We booked to stay for one night as a treat. Dinner in the Ocean restaurant was perfect - a delicious menu, good wine list and relaxed atmosphere. After dinner we were given a tour off the hotel including the new tea room and the Rock Garden restaurant and cocktail bar. It was great to see the hotel so busy, there was a real buzz about the place. The service was excellent too with our room being upgraded to a balcony room which made our stay extra special. A terrific team made us feel very welcome. We'll definitely be back.

We travelled from Jersey where were spending 3 weeks to experience a taste of Guernsey . The hotel provided pick up from the airport with Lucas as driver. He could not have been more welcoming. The front desk staff were the sam, we immediately went down for lunch, which we were able to eat al fresco on the patios looking down the lush valley.
After lunch we walked down to the beach, totally natural.
Our room was large and well appointed looking down the valley. It had been refurbished to a luxury quality.
We chose the steak house for dinner, superb is the best word to describe the choice as well as the cooking and presentation.
As a Tea book author I was sorry to miss the opening of the new Tea Room, the next day but I had a peek and it will certainly be an excuse for me to come back.
