We booked to stay at the Fermain for four nights on a half board basis. We were not disappointed with the hotel or its location. The facilities, rooms and staff were superb, just what we had hoped for. Unfortunately the half board experience was not so good. We were only given the option to eat in the Ocean restaurant, not being a fish lover this did restrict my options. The menu was the same every night so after two nights I had to resort to having a starter and dessert. Despite this criticism I do have to say the food I did have was absolutely first class.

This is our second visit to The Fermain Valley Hotel and we were not disappointed.
We Stayed in the Venue which is a steep walk for some but if you have a sea facing room it gives the most wonderful sea views. The room was very large and comfortable.
We ate in both restaurants which were excellent. The service was great and the Sea Bass particularly delicious.
Lovely gardens
Small but warm indoor pool.
The cinema is a bonus which we used. Sitting n large comfortable seats and we took our own DVD to watch.
Will definately be back again.

We arrived a bit weary after delays with Condor Ferries and our first impressions were what a lovely place to stay. We were showed to our room which was very spacious and immaculately presented. As it was dark we didn't appreciate the sea view until the morning! We ate in the Ocean restaurant, the steaks were cooked to perfection and the staff were very friendly. I had a swim in the pool on Sunday morning before breakfast which gave you so much choice it was difficult to decide what to eat. We were blessed with sunshine the whole weekend and would recommend this hotel to friends and will be back but perhaps not on the ferry!

We had a Gold room in the main building overlooking the bay and fantastic view beyond. The room was very comfortable with extra little touches such as fruit, chocolates and sherry!
The staff were excellent, very attentative and nothing was too much trouble.

The location is on a hillside so there are quite a lot of steps, particularly outdoors on the decking areas.
The hotel caters for holidaymakers and business customers alike. There were very few families when we stayed, but they do cater for them although I would suggest couples and more mature guests were the majority the week we were there.
The pool could have been a bit warmer but was ok.
The Ocean restaurant was very good. We didn't eat in the steakhouse but it was very busy, so can only assume popular.
Breakfast, taken in the Ocean restaurant was a good choice of cereals, fruit, pastries, cooked selection, cheeses, meats, yoghurt etc.

The only negative comment I can make is the noise from the aircraft which started around 6am and probably because I am a light sleeper I was more aware of the planes.

This was our second stay at the Fermain Valley Hotel. The hotel is situated off a quiet lane which steeply winds its way down to beautiful Fermain Bay. From the first moment we arrived the staff made us welcome even offering a complimentary welcome drink in the bar. The rooms are spotless and our Gold Room offered a superb sea view over Fermain Bay. We had an evening meal in the Ocean Restaurant and the staff looked after us superbly - even providing us with complimentary glasses of champagne and piping "Happy Anniversary" in chocolate on my sweet at the end of the meal. Everyone in the restaurant seemed to want us to enjoy our special evening. The food itself was faultless and reasonably priced considering the high quality. On returning to our room we found an anniversary card from the hotel had been left for us. All in all a superb break in a fantastic hotel in a lovely location on the beautiful island of Guernsey. Thank you Fermain Valley Hotel!

We enjoyed our week staying in this gorgeous hotel, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. A special mention to housekeeping, who did a superb job, every where was clean. The variety of food at breakfast catered for any dietary needs, we ate in the Ocean restaurant 3 times and all meals delicious, we had 1 meal in The Rock steakhouse, try the argentine steak it was cooked perfectly for me. We had a tour around the garden, which we thought was a brilliant activity to offer, we had a great time even in the rain.

This hotel is in a good location although for those walking the approaching hill is very steep. The view from bedrooms with balconies is very good, and our room although slightly smaller than wished was nicely furnished and well maintained by cleaning staff. The hotel is well finished and quality is good. The garden area is well served with terracing and good seating accommodation. There is a well furnished lounge and a library. There are two restaurants and a tea bar. The main one is good with an excellent menu, the second is a steak house type restaurant with very good quality food, mainly looking after the younger element, but visitors should not be put off by that, as service, as it is throughout this hotel is outstanding. The staff are unobtrusive and it seemed well trained.

The hotel offered an all inclusive package inc flights, transfers and two complimentary evening meals in a 5 day break.
Staff could not have been more friendly and efficient. We opted for a room in the garden Venue so could have been a wet walk if it had rained. Indoor pool and private cinema were among the features.
For our tastes the evening menu was a little specialised but maybe this is par for a 2 rosette restaurant.
Anyway I quibble - it was a great break

The hotel faces the sea and as such has a lovely outlook over the terraced gardens below.

We paid for a slightly better room. The room itself was ok, a little dated and arguably in need some TLC. Examples would be the side tables with cup/glass ring marks. The bathroom wasn't up to much either I'm afraid.

The one overriding issue despite this being one of their newer rooms, there was no air conditioning. It really does need it, the room gets very warm and you have to open the French doors that lead to he balcony to let some air in and make it bearable. A feature that is lees than secure and not the ideal solution.

We only had breakfast in the hotel but it was very good. Not a huge selection from the buffet/continental selection but it was just fine. The hot selection off the menu was very good, between the two couples staying we probably tried most options over the three days and all was good.

The restaurant itself is well presented, nice modern decor with a slightly nautical theme.

We didn't eat in the steak restaurant owing to us eating around the island but it looked to be a popular option.

The hotel itself is well located for St Peter Port.

We walked down the hill to the waters edge and the cafe down their has a fabulous view out over the little bay. We walked from the hotel around the coastal paths from the cafe, well worth doing for the views but be prepared for lots of steps, etc. along the way.

We probably stay again if we go to Guernsey but the room we stayed in would benefit from some care and attention.

My friend and I chose this hotel above others as we thought the location looked stunning and would be worth paying a bit more for - we weren't disappointed! We were also pleased with the extremely professional, friendly staff who were polite and attentive without gushing over us. An error in our room being a double instead of a twin was resolved very quickly. The hotel has excellent facilities: two bars, a swimming pool and shuttle service (which we only used to go to the airport) amongst other things. The food in the restaurant was delicious and there was a variety of choice for breakfast. The complimentary glass of Prosecco on arrival was very welcome after our early start and our room, which had a fabulous view of the stunning hotel gardens, was spotlessly clean and well equipped with essentials like water and a hairdryer. The decanter of sherry was quite quaint but we indulged nonetheless! We were on the top floor so it was also very quiet which was important to us. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is planning a trip.

This hotel is truly wonderful. The location, staff and food are as good as it gets. Gold rooms 30-33 have beautiful valley views. We stayed in room 32. Although not a big room it had a big balcony with a lovely view and was spotless. There are two restaurants one general for all meals. The fish was excellent. The other specialises in meat from around the world. We did not try that so cannot comment. Breakfast covered everything. You will not go hungry. The outside is very popular with visitors they cannot resist the view and they pass the hotel on the walk down to the fantastic bay. The only minus we found was the cooking smell that sometimes drifted up the rooms. Maybe redirecting the extractors could solve this problem. That being the case it would most definitely not stop us from staying again.

We first visited Fermain Valley Hotel in 2007 with a baby and had a very memorable stay so this summer we returned to Guernsey and booked 4 nights in a Platinum Room. We now have a much bigger 8 year old and her 5 year old brother. We were able to all stay in the very comfortable, generously sized room all all had super comfy beds with great views out to sea.
The hotel was just as lovely as we remembered, booking was no problem and all the hotel staff were incredibly helpful, nothing was too much trouble.

Our children particularly loved the pool (of course) and the huge cinema room. We all loved the delicious breakfasts ..so much choice !..and had great fun in the library after breakfast each day playing knockout games of Connect 4 !.

We greatly admired the newly landscaped gardens which are stunning, the walk through the gardens and down into Fermain Bay could not be more picturesque ? Well done to the landscapers who have created a really gorgeous garden with inspired planting.

By the way, Fermain Bay just happens to have the best rock pooling combined with the best ice-creams ever..our kids were in heaven.

We'll be back as soon as we can !!

Many thanks
The Ashley Family

Stayed here August with three other couples as a group booking for two nights. Rooms .were lovely, clean and well appointed. We used the pool, unfortunatley the sauna was not switched on although we had asked at reception for it to be made ready.
We booked a table in the on site restaurant at 8 o'clock. We were told that the signature dish was not available as well as three other things on the menu. We ordered our food at about 8.30ish. We did not receive the starter until 10pm and then they were wrong. The seafood platter rather than having lobster had oysters and cheese ????? We were told by the unhelpful and hostile female restaurant manager they had run out of lobster. Starters were sent back and it was nearly 11pm before mains were brought. Other (mainly French) people had eaten all three courses with coffee and left during the time we were still waiting for our starter. We managed to speak to the chef de partie who said the chef himself would not come out. This hotel is lovely but the service and staff in the restaurant are both awful. Stay by all means but my advise is don't eat there.

Excellent hotel in great position. Took my mum as she had always wanted to go to guernsey. We were not disappointed, the staff were lovely and friendly and they could not have been more helpful. My mum could not walk very far so they took us down to the bay and brought us back up. Which was very much appreciated.

Had a one night stay here recently. Arrived in the pouring rain to reception and unfortunately our rooms were back up near the top of the road. Receptionist took us on what she said was a little walk.. Was a little further with luggage and rain. However rooms were nice, comfortable, complimentary chocolates, fruit, good tea and coffee plus sherry were a nice touch. White company noir toiletries. Slept very well. Breakfast was ok except a little disorganised and they seemed to have a bit of a fly issue. Nice pool, views of the sea.. Would come back here.

We had a wonderful 3 day stay. The room was fantastic the view of the bay superb. The food was very good too.
Most of all I would like to praise the staff for their kindness and understanding, particularly Reception. Nothing was too much trouble. We certainly look forward to our next visit. Thank you all.

My daughter and son in law had their wedding at the venue which is attached to the hotel also both my daughters stayed the night before and myself and the bridesmaids got ready in the room. The staff were brilliant, nothing was to much trouble. The staff in the hotel did everything to make sure we had everything we needed and they always had a smile on their faces. At the venue the wedding was perfect and again nothing was to much trouble. I would recomend both the hotel and venue to anyone who wants to be treated like royalty. Thank you for a great magical day

We took all our family, including five grandsons ,to Fermain Valley last week for my wife's 70th birthday, and it lived up to all our expectations ,and in some cases exceeded them. The rooms were beautiful and extremely comfortable, with great views over Fermain Bay,and the front of house staff really helpful. We ate in the Rock Garden Restaurant one evening and had a superb dinner.

We were a party of eleven aged from 3 to 73,which I appreciate presents some challenges, and on the whole they were handled very well. However, while the food in the Ocean Restaurant was really good, the service was sometimes rather confused and not perhaps as polished as it should have been.and there seemed to be a lack of communication between the waiting staff and the kitchen.

That said,I would happily stay at Fermain Valley again, but with a smaller party !

Although this is not our first visit to Guernsey, it is was to Fermain Valley Hotel and it was excellent. The rooms, food, atmosphere, and staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. We will be returning to Fermain Valley that there is not doubt.

My wife and I have just returned from another wonderful week at the Fermain Valley. (this was our second visit) The friendly staff, the clean luxurious accommodation, the Food from the 2 restaurants and of course the wonderful views from the windows and terraces all made this a very memorable break.

This hotel has just one disabled access room (Roll-in-shower) which is a pity as this room does not match the luxury of the rest. Don't get me wrong however, this was spotless and roomy, but just made us jealous of the rest.

We are sorry to be home!!

This is not a cheap hotel, but it's not expensive either..you receive little luxuries like a decanter of sherry in the room, complimentary drink on arrival and free WiFi.
I would recommend anyone going to Guernsey to try a stay here, it is well worth a visit hear.

We stayed at the Fermain Valley this week, and had a really enjoyable stay.

The hotel is excellent, we ate in the Rock Garden Restaurant one evening and had a really good meal. Try the cocktails too they are fantastic.

We booked the hotels cinema one evening for a couple of hours and was very well looked after by one of the members of staff who provided popcorn and a bottle of wine and set everything up for us.

I've stopped at many of the better hotels on the island but I think this is my favourite so far, highly recommended.

Fell in love with Guernsey and Fermain Valley Hotel last year and had to visit again. The experience was even better. The buffet breakfast is gone and now served at the table, the internet is much improved and rooms have been refreshed. The Gold Rooms are extremely comfortable with all needs catered for and it is great having a balcony overlooking the beautiful valley. All staff are friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The new Tea Room has good choices of tea and tasty cakes. The Ocean Restaurant is worth a visit and the Rock Garden is a must especially for steak lovers. Hopefully we will return.

We had our wedding here and the hotel staff could not have been any more helpful. They were brilliant and accommodating in helping us make our day perfect and exactly how we wanted it to be. on the day all the staff were very relaxed and delivered excellent service! The food was beautiful. We stayed in a Gold room which was very nice with a lovely view over the Valley. Highly recommend this hotel... couldn't fault them!

We had a truly amazing time here, where do I start! The reception team were very informative and helpful. We were collected from the airport by one of the hotels drivers and were informed that subject to availability that the drivers will happily take you in and out of St Peter Port during your stay, very nice touch. The food was outstanding, as were all of the front of house staff, especially the Restaurant manager of the Ocean Restaurant, Karol, who always went out of his way to please. We also ate in the Rock Garden, steak house, again superb food! The grounds are exceptionally well kept and make the setting which overlooks Fermain Bay even more of a delight.

Like one of the other reviewers, I would agree that we too were in the separate building, known as The Venue. From the main hotel this was a steep climb and after an evening meal was not ideal. I would recommend anyone, especially for the more mature guest to specifically request a room in the main hotel building. All of this said, the hotel worked hard to ensure that this did not have a negative impact on our stay, providing room service, driver collection form the Venue when we were venturing out, luggage assistance etc.

Do not let this last comment put you off in any way, it is in my opinion still an outstanding place to stay!

Lovely hotel. Had room 11 which was excellent and easily accommodated a double and single. Slight issue that fridge did not work, reported but not repaired during our 3 night stay. Lovely pool with doors which can be opened directly outside, great for kids. Lovely private cinema which can be booked at no extra charge with good selection of films. Full English breakfast good but surprised that no sausages available Friday morning - very poor stock management! Staff not even aware of problem until we pointed it out!
