Rooms very good, food excellent, restaurant service totally abismal considering what you pay for the hotel. Better service in a restaurant adjoining a Premier Inn. With the restaurant half full they sat us next to a group of 8 men who had been drinking for a considerable time, they were not out of order just extremely loud so we could not easily talk amounght ourselves. Two and a half hours for our meal, once the wine was delivered we ended up pouring it ourselves, not a problem the wine water did comment that we were doing his job but we never saw him again. We then had to find a waiter to order our desert having waited 20 minutes with no one coming near the table.
Some management or training definitely required.

My wife and I stayed on on a cycling holiday of the island. Very good room, staff extremely helpful.
The only downside was the food. As vegetarians, the choice would have been reasonable if both restaurants had been open, but only the stakhouse restaurant was open on the Sunday night in July when we arrived and the choice was very limited.

This is a great looking hotel and the views from the bars on the terrace are surreal and stunning. We ate in both restaurants and the quality of food was superb as were breakfasts although the choice was a bit limited. That said, making me porridge was not a problem for them. Sunday was a bit of a disappointment as we had an hour to wait for taxi but were told that they only do full Sunday roasts and unable to do a sandwich which I would have expected from a hotel this size.

One of the greatest services was the transfer service which is free and we used to get us to and from the airport. The staff were faultless and really made our break.

However, we took a silver room and were placed at the back of the hotel overlooking bins and there was considerable noise on the Saturday night from the restaurant bard that we had to phone reception. It was a humid weekend and we put the air conditioning on which was so loud that we couldn't hold a conversation let alone sleep.

We won't be going back as there are other hotels that we now want to try but I think if you have a gold or platinum room at the front then it would be a fantastic stay, if not expensive.

Just had 3 nights at the Fermain Valley Hotel in Guernsey. A superb hotel with excellent food, excellent service, lovely rooms, wonderful views. Almost too good for words!
It's a great place for a short break.

All staff very friendly and helpful.
Ate in both restaurants; very different atmosphere in both but excellent food and great breakfasts.
Our room was huge, could easily have had 20 people come to visit us!
The views are great (well, except for the day we had fog but the hotel couldn't organize the weather for us!)
We used the hotel taxi back to the airport; an added bonus.

This was our fourth stay in two years at the hotel and we have never been disappointed in the slightest. This year, we were back in a Platinum room with glorious sea views. It has become a home from home for us. Gavin and his colleagues never disappoint in their quality of service. Level of detail is fabulous.

The Ocean restaurant is first class but the Rock Garden is even better (see separate review) and very much livelier! You need to book a table in the Rock Garden some weeks before you arrive or the time slots will be very limited.

One afternoon, we were in St Peter Port and rather tired after walking most of the day so we simply rang the hotel for the courtesy bus and it arrived within 5 minutes.

Thoroughly recommended.

Tip: Let the hotel put a package together for you including either flights or a ferry as they get great rates from the airlines/hire car and from Condor.

Fantastic hotel and staff. Transport from airport to hotel in the hotel shuttle bus is a good way to see round some of the island. Hotel is set in a beautiful valley, and there is a beach bar/restaurant on the beach at the bottom of the valley. Really secluded feeling and fantastic view to the sea. Wonderful relaxing holiday. Hotel staff are really knowledgeable and friendly. A brilliant stay, and will be going back.

Just returned from a weekend break 2 nights fri-sun. The hotel was clean, bright, cosy & friendly with small indoor pool & cinema, plus coffee/tea shop. We had a twin room, Sky tv & free wifi & it was more than adequate with a lovely bathroom & shower over bath. The room had a safe, fridge, tea/coffee/kettle, iron, hairdryer, dressing gowns/slippers & toiletries. In the room also were some CHOCOLATEs, APPLES & not forgetting SHERRY. Plus 2 bottles of water per day. Wow!!! & the beds were comfortable. The hotel staff particularly Jeanne who was a young lady on reception, and worth a mention, were all very friendly & helpful. The hotel is on a slope it has several split levels but, it also has a lift. I noticed a man in an electric wheelchair and the staff assisted by laying ramps for easy access to the oceon restaurant. The Rock garden steak restaurant, was unfortunately for us fully booked Friday & Saturday eve so, a tip - think about making a reservation when you book the room. However the ocean restaurant was a fantastic alternative & the Scottish fillet steak was mouth watering. There is also an airport shuttle bus again this needs to be booked when you make the reservation as gets very busy. The shuttle bus will also drop you into St. Peter's port & collect you, a nice touch! Eve or daytime. This is a lovely hotel & If you enjoy walking there is a challenging coastal walk to St. Peter's port, if your fit & able. (benches along the route) the views on a beautiful day were stunning. It's definitely worth the steps & much easier walking back. The Pathway access can be taken through the garden which is easier than walking down the slope to the bay and then back up. The buses are frequent around the island. Also From the hotel you can walk down to Fermain bay, & then reward yourself with a cuppa in the cafe, open 7 days per week for drinks/food. However, It's a steep walk back up, be warned, don't eat too much cake. The hotel was well worth the visit & we really enjoyed our break,THANKYOU Fermain valley, we will be back again, but for now I need to lose a few pounds in weight 😄

My trip to Guernsey was for business but having never stayed overnight before I decided I should this time and booked this wonderful hotel. We were blessed with good weather mostly which enable us to enjoy the outdoor space. The tea rooms has an excellent and reasonably priced cakes, you must try it! The breakfast was very nice and we also tried the steakhouse again good and reasonably priced.
What a lovely hotel and a beautiful island, hope to come back soon!

Have stayed here many times and always enjoyed the experience. Very attentive staff and nothing too much bother for them to do. Breakfast was well organised and always plentiful. Ate once with friends and the evening menu was good with a wonderfully prepared Sea Bass on the menu. Not the cheapest dining experience but memorable. Rooms are decorated well and we had a balcony overlooking the valley. Advantage of visiting in June is the the sun is on the balcony most of the day. Will stay again.

Excellent hotel, fatastic sea views especially from room 12.This room is spacious, has a settie ,Sky T.V, and everything for a comfortable weeks stay.
Staff are very pleasant and are eager to meet your every need including a handle which can be added to the bathroom wall to aid getting in and out of the bath, pluss bath mat if you require one. Nothing was too much trouble.
Food is of a very high standard. Two restaurants for evening dining. Breakfast is waitress service which we prefer. With a marvellous menu, pancakes with maple syrup with smoked bacon a deffinate recomendation. Or bar menu for meals or snacks.
Swimming pool indoor with bifolding doors overlooking the panoramic veiw to Fermain beach. Which is abit of a downward trek, but worth it.
we have stayed prior to this in a balcony room at the rear. But enjoyed the extra space in room 12.
palatial gardens surround the hotel but a little steep for the ones around us with bad knees. But beautifull to look at from the wooden decking at the rear of the hotel.
Hotel cinema seats can be booked to watch films of your choice to watch with your loved ones, if the weather is a little bad.
A perfect all round stay, to which we will return as we have been returning to Guensey for 20 odd years, our favourite!

I was taken to the Fermain Valley Hotel by my bosses as a thank you for 25 years service to them and their Company. It is a fabulous hotel and the staff are wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble for any of them.
We had a platinum room and it was large and comfortable and the view was excellent.
The food is very good and the cocktails are varied. A choice of two restaurants and an excellent tea room. Do book a cream tea. What a treat.
The hotel runs a courtesy bus and will drop you any where you wish to go.
The hotel receptionist even helped us book a day trip to Alderney. My word that was an experience on a small plane that looked no bigger than a people carrier. It is an experience I will never forget.

My husband & I fancied a night away together (we live in Guernsey) so we stayed here last weekend. Such a lovely hotel. Nothing was too much trouble. First impression was great - beautifully kept gardens. We got a fantastic welcome & were shown around the place by the friendly receptionist. Our room (a gold room) was one of the prettiest I've ever stayed in. We loved the little extras like chocolates, fruit & sherry & all the different choices of teas & coffees. It was warm enough to sit out on the balcony & felt very tranquil there. The bar staff were also very friendly & professional & helpful in making decisions about cocktails. We sat out on the decking in the sun admiring the view (sea & gardens) sipping our cocktails & it was pure bliss.

As we live in Guernsey we have already been to all the tourist attractions but I noted there was plenty of information in the reception area about Guernsey & they provide transport in & out of town also.

That night we ate in the Rock Garden. It was our first time going there but will most certainly not be the last. The steak was easily the best I've tasted in Guernsey & the side dishes we ordered were of equal high quality. There was also a lovely buzz around the place - I am already making plans for heading out there again with friends!

Finally breakfast was top notch. Loved the variety & choices of the hot food as well. The pancakes I had were fluffy & sweet & quite frankly divine!

We checked out at 11 as we had to collect our kids but we ended up going back out there for tea & cakes with them that afternoon. Wonderful choice of cakes in a lovely location. About 5 mins walk down the road there is a lovely beach cafe & cliff walks & 5 mins walk in the other direction takes you to the fermain bay tavern which is known for its live music. Would most definitely recommend & will most definitely stay here again 😀

Had a simply wonderful week at the Fermain Valley Hotel. I can honestly say it's one of the best hotels I have stayed in.
The hotel runs a free shuttle service between the airport and hotel which is very handy and got the holiday off to a good start. Check-in was swift and the reception staff (and indeed all staff we encountered) were friendly and helpful.
Our room (#17) at the front of the hotel was beautifully decorated and had all we needed. My only criticism is it got very warm and without A/C this was a problem.
Breakfast had a wide range of cooked and continental options and the dining room has a lovely ambience. Dinner in the Ocean Restaurant was simply divine and service was good.
The hotel is in an excellent location, just a short walk down the hill to the beautiful and tranquil Fermain Bay where there is a lovely cafe serving food, ice creams and beverages. (I highly recommend enjoying a glass of white wine in the early evening while overlooking the bay). St Peter Port is about a 30 minute walk along the cliff path from Fermain Valley.

One thing I really liked about the hotel is how uncrowded it felt. Although they were fully booked st the time of our visit, it never felt busy; we had the pool to ourselves and the outdoor seating area was quiet.

The hotel and its setting made for a very restful holiday and we hope to return in the future.

The Fermain Valley Hotel is a 4 Star Hotel located near St Peter Port on the beautiful Island of Guernsey.

Tucked away in what feels like a secret valley, surrounded by trees and leading down to a wonderful beach, this location must be one of the wonders of the world.

The rooms are extremely comfortable and tastefully finished, and the hotel staff are welcoming and warm.

The on-site 'Rock Garden' restaurant is a world class steak house with fantastic meals, atmosphere and service.

I've woken up in one of the Gold Rooms at the hotel which overlooks the valley. It's misty and birds are singing.

What a magical, peaceful place.

Location and hotel very good. All the staff were friendly and helpful especially the French girl on reception. Hotel offers a bus service into town. Sherry in rooms would be better in unopened bottles or small bottle of wine but that is just a suggestion. Overall nothing to not to like.

Recently stayed at the hotel with my Mum in a silver twin room.
From the moment the complimentary shuttle picked us up from the port we were made to feel very special. The hotel was beautifully presented as was our room. Lovely little touches to make you feel at home.
We ate in the hotel restaurant both nights of our stay, the food amazing on both nights.
The hotel sits in lovely grounds. You must walk down to the bay which has breathtaking views! We also walked along the cliff into St Peters Port which was hard work but worth it. Luckily we could call on the services of the shuttle to get us back!!
The only niggle I have was that our room was above an outdoor area which appeared to be a smoking area. It was quite noisy on the Saturday night even with the window closed. Maybe some sound proofing would be worth it. I think if we had been staying any longer than 2 nights we would have asked to move and I will remember this when I return in September with my husband.
All in a lovely stay and have recommended to everyone I know! Cant wait to return.

High quality hotel, comfortable rooms, all the usual facilities, including v.nice pool.
All the staff are friendly, competent and attentive. Special mention to Vlad the Restaurant manager.
The attention to detail, though good, draws attention to the little (and I mean minor) slips.
We would prefer a total smoking ban in all the public areas, outside as well as inside.
Otherwise it would be a perfect 5. A 4.5 score is needed.

I originally come from Guernsey and was visiting family for a break and I have to say what a fabulous place...rooms are all individually decorated with personal touches such as sherry, fresh fruit, biscuits and white company cosmetics, spotlessly clean ...food was amazing beautiful views over the island...and a credit to Guernsey tourism.

This is the first time we have stayed at Fermain Valley, but I suspect it wont be our last. It was so easy to fly here from Stansted (4 hours door to door from our house in Colchester) particularly as it was all arranged by the hotel. A nice touch was being met at the airport by the hotel's driver.
Staff are all very friendly and little extras like the decanter of Sherry in the room, make it feel special.
We ate at the Ocean Restaurant on our first night, which was lovely. Oskar looked after us and even moved us to a more romantic table when it became free. The Crab Linguine was full of flavour and the Fillet Steak was one of the best texured pieces of meat I have ever eaten.
The view from our room down the valley is beautiful, as was the coast walk through the bluebells to St Peter Port yesterday.
Rooms are high standard and very well appointed. Excellent WiFi and Sky TV.
The Fermain Bay Café was a little piece of Heaven

There is only one problem with staying at the Fermain Valley Hotel. Once you do, you will never stay anywhere else on Guernsey.

This is our umpteenth visit to Guernsey and our second stay at the Fermain.

We stayed here last year for my Birthday and our Wedding Anniversary - both of which happily fall on "Liberation Day" May 9.

Last year was a 'big' Birthday for me. (This year even big-ger!). And what a lovely Birthday treat.

The Staff are exceptional. The Hotel itself is beautiful. Clean. Modern yet Classic. The location is unbeatable. The Restaurants are fabulous. (I'm running out of imaginative positive words!)

The Rock Garden Restaurant (in the Hotel) is the best Restaurant on the island. On
a holiday island full of great Restaurants, this is saying something. Amazing food and staff who cannot do enough for you. Book early to avoid disappointment.

If you wanted to, you could stay here and never leave the Hotel Campus. With the Restaurants. Pool. Gardens. The Views. They even have a Cinema. However, it would be a pity to miss out on the beauty of this island. As the locals say "Sarnia Cherie".

P.S. My husband asked me not to be too ebullient - he doesn't want it to become so popular we struggle to book next time!

Come. Enjoy. Tell them the Ashwoods sent you!

It has been my great fortune to stay at the Fermain Valley Hotel in previous years on business trips and this year i decided to extend my stay with my wife joining me for a few days.
This hotel is set in spectacular grounds with just a short walk, through woods covered by bluebells and wild garlic flowers, down to a lovely cove. The Beach Cafe serves tasty crab sandwiches and has a most reasonable wine list!
From the moment we were met at the airport by the friendly staff we were made to feel at home and nothing was too much trouble.
The rooms are tastefully designed and maintained to a high international standard. The food was excellent and we would particularly recommend the Rock Garden restaurant.

A big thank you to Gavin and the excellent staff for making our stay so enjoyable - we will definitely return.
