I stayed at the Fermain Valley Hotel for the August bank holiday and can highly recommend the property. The views of the bay (which is within 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel) are beautiful and the garden resembles a tropical oasis. The rooms are tidy and spacious. The breakfast choice is varied and you can select from an a-la-carte menu. The hotel also offers a complimentary transfer service (between airport-hotel-port area) but it is usually booked out and so I could never take advantage of it. So unless you prebook it, you do not get it.

We stayed recently to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, having stayed here for our 30th and at the original Fermain Hotel for our honeymoon. It was lovely to be back. We booked a gold room and had room 30, spacious, spotlessly clean, comfortable, lovely views over the valley and beautiful toiletries in the bathroom.
We ate in each of the restaurants. Buho was lovely, a bit noisy as our table was next to a large corporate table, but service was good and food was some of the best Mexican food we have had. The Ocean Greek Eats was great for breakfast, good choice and quality of the food. Most of our dinner was good apart from my steak which was pretty tough. Our dinner in Rock Garden was very good, best steak ever and great service, although we were glad we had a table at the side as it was quite noisy.
Staff were all excellent, friendly and attentive and we were delighted to be able to get courtesy lifts to and from the airport. Love the location of the hotel, delightful walk down to Fermain Bay, easy to get into town by local bus or by walking.
Would certainly stay here again if returning to Guernsey.

Beautiful location and stunning views. The hotel is close to St Peter Port and close to amazing beaches. The best of everything. Great restaurants too.

Stayed here (again) for a short break on the Island and enjoyed every minute of the stay here. The hotel is in a great location with views across the gardens to the sea which makes for a very relaxing place to spend some time. Our platinum room was large and comfortable and very well maintained. Staff were all very friendly and the service efficient throughout our stay. Breakfasts in the ocean restaurant were tasty and well cooked with plenty of options available although it would have been nice to have been able to sit outside as it was certainly warm enough to have done so. Gardens were lovely (if a little more weedy this time than on previous visits) and full of flower. Overall a great place to stay and I am sure we will be back - using the discount/upgrade voucher that we were given at checkout which is a nice touch.

Based on our first impressions and few niggly things when we first arrived, we were expecting to award this hotel only a 2 or 3* rating. The simply outstandingly brilliant staff during our longish stay changed our minds. It is almost worth a 5.

One of the niggly things was, to our amazement as we had not seen mention of this on a review; the hotel is on the airport flight path and the planes fly very low over the hotel. And I mean LOW! Not a busy airport and seemingly silent at night but the noise can be annoying during the day.

The hotel itself is on various levels. We had a Gold room. Very nice but we feel overpriced at around £200 a night b&b. On the plus side the hotel does provide (book in advance) free airport and town transfers which kind of offsets the room cost. Be sure to book the airport transfer before you arrive/leve.

One hotel restaurant was closed for reasons we are still not clear about. That said the other two were both excellent and very reasonably priced. The Mexican restaurant – give it a try and you will you find it very acceptable. Food is NOT all spicy unless you want it, and the views are great. Prices are very affordable and the staff absolutely outstanding. To a person all the staff were at all times friendly and very efficient.

The Rock Garden Restaurant is also excellent with staff to match. Honestly, we were blown away at how good all the staff are. We ate here four nights and give all the staff and food 10/10.

We twice had a need for the hotel handyman and he also was excellent. The two hotel taxi drivers, and reception staff also were faultless.

How one hotel can find and keep such god staff beats us. We normally stay in 5* hotels but have never had service levels of this standard from ALL staff.

My Husband and I stayed here for a long weekend mid May for his surprise 40th. Bed & Breakfast in a Gold room with a sea view balcony.

The service at the hotel was excellent. Little hiccup on the last day, but I’ll get to that. I called in advance to arrange dinner in the steak restaurant and to book airport transfers *book well in advance if you can**. Both were arranged as requested. The transfer service to and from St Peters Port really is brilliant. Both our drivers during our stay were lovely.

The room was well appointment. Smaller than I had thought based on the pictures. It has tea, coffee, fruit and biscuits which were all great. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. I was worried as we were located near the grill restaurant which is lovely but we didn’t hear anything once in the room.

The grounds are really lovely and the walk down to the beach is worth it. You can pick up the coastal path from here to St Peters Port, but it’s worth the short climb for the view.

The food all round was EXCELLENT.
Breakfast - we had this served in the room both mornings so we could enjoy the balcony. We had cooked one morning and then continental the next it was all lovely.
The first night we booked in the hotel Rock Garden Steakhouse. We ordered the chateaubriand steak to share and, my god, best steak I’ve ever head. The cocktails were great too. It gets busy so book in advance.
We had lunch there on the last day just before our transfer back home and again that was delicious (it was the burger which was huge but we finished the lot).

We didn’t really make use of the other facilities. We saw the pool area which was lovely and the tea room was busy.

There is a bus stop just by the hotel and the buses are easy to use. We found the hotel well placed for our needs.

Transfer back to airport - we were unable to get a transfer back so we asked the hotel to book a cab just before we sat down for lunch. The time the cab should’ve been there came and went and it turned out it didn’t get booked. So little bit of stress at the end but they managed to get us the hotel transfer at the last second.

I think Fermain is a great hotel if you want a luxury hassle free weekend. However if you’re planning on doing lots of sightseeing then it might be a bit 💴 if you’re just planning on crashing in bed every night.

We were overall very pleased with this hotel. Our platinum room was spacious and the view was lovely. Niggles were the bed linen was not as good as I would have expected and the duvet made me too hot most of the night or freezing when I'd thrown it off. The sheets were not high quality cotton either and the pillows were either lumpy or hard. The shower was very powerful, but there was no grip rail to steady yourself getting in and out and we had to ask for an anti-slip mat. The complimentary sherry and fruit were lost on us, but the cafetière coffee was a bonus.
Breakfasts were all good, served very very efficiently. A reasonable choice of fruit, cereals and yoghurts with cold meat and cheese and pastries. Hot food was good and extra butter/marmalade were provided immediately on request.
The staff were all, without exception, very helpful and friendly and made our stay very enjoyable. The pool was small, but sufficient and the changing area/shower was good and every where was clean and well maintained. The terraces outside looked very inviting and all had wonderful views down the valley to the sea and the gardens were particularly nice.
Unfortunately the Ocean Bar Restaurant was closed while we were there and with the Bohu Restaurant being closed Sunday night meant that we could not eat at the hotel because we had not booked a table at the Rock Garden Steakhouse. If we had been warned beforehand or when we checked in that we needed to book then this would have avoided the problem and irritation.
I don't think we'll be going back to Guernsey anytime soon, but we certainly felt we'd chosen one of the best hotels on the island and certainly the views were outstanding. It was a peaceful and restful break for us, and walking in to town was manageable, but the bus for £1 was better!

Every member of staff that we met went out of their way to make our stay a lovely time; all were friendly and helpful. We had a splendid large room (Platinum grade)which overlooked the garden and sea; it was beautifully presented and the housekeeping was the best we have ever had! The hotel grounds are absolutely beautiful
It took us about 30 - 40 minutes to walk into St Peter Port (downhill going, uphill back!); we found the hotel to be very well situated for walks including the coastal path. It was also well served by buses so we didn't feel the need for a car.

Initial welcome cold and unfriendly by receptionist with blond hair but later when I asked for a fan and extra pillows receptionist with long dark hair ( sorry I don't know names) was very accommodating. Very disappointed with bedroom and bathroom. We were paying £219 a night for a 'gold' room. It had balcony overlooking the sea and garden which was great. No air con. No fan til I asked. The room is small, dated and shabby. The dressing table stool was stained. The ironing board took up the whole wardrobe. My bedside light had no switch , in fact the wires were bare and dangerous as you can see from the photo. The bathroom was small, hot and lacked proper ventilation. The bath was sooooo small and don't think the cleaners had heard of 'cillit bang and the dirt is gone !' it was mouldy and scruffy and certainly not up to my standards at home. I was very disappointed on arrival and relieved I was only staying three nights. Because of the above we will never stay again and do not think it warrants four stars.

However the gardens are phenomenal, as is the food. All the waiting staff were lovely. The food was exceptional. I would have liked to submit more photos but limited.

I will be interested to see if the management reply to this as I note they haven't always replied to bad comments.

How can the bedroom cleaning staff miss bare electric wires and mouldy bathrooms if doing a good job.

Superb room in the annex, so much to recommend for this Hotel and staff. Where to begin!

A decent way out from St Peter Port but walkable or bus stop close by on the main road.

Fermain Valley Hotel boasts 3 of the best restaurants on the island. The breakfast choices are some of the best I've sampled too.

The staff are some of the best too and will go out of their way to ensure that your stay is totally enjoyable.

Would recommend everyone to give this place a go.

We’ve stayed here many times before and will definitely stay again. Claire (Reservations Team) was amazing and went a long way over and above what would be expected in order to make my husbands birthday perfect - I can’t thank Claire enough. Her hard work was appreciated more than she knows and she genuinely cared that things were as perfect as they could be.

We have always found the staff to be friendly and professional. The breakfast service was efficient and plentiful to set you up for the day. Maria who covered breakfast service and the tea room whilst we were there is an absolute gem - she was very good at making sure any outstanding little details (if there were any) were completed before you asked for them. This is a sign of a great hospitality employee with an eagle eye!

Our room was well maintained and cleaned during our stay. I really would like to know who cleans your room as it’s always nice to say thank you and acknowledge when people have done a good job - this was included in my feedback to the hotel.

The tea room has cakes to die for (if you can fit any on after breakfast)! 🍰 The lounge is a very comfortable and relaxing room to sit in if the weather is inclement or you just need to recharge.

I do agree with another comment which has been made on here about the outdoor furniture not being set up to maximise the glorious weather over Easter but I suppose they had their reasons. It didn’t affect us too much as we were out and about anyway but I can understand people may have been frustrated. I have spent many a happy afternoon on the terrace enjoying the view, the cakes and the peace and quiet.

I have visited all the restaurants and stayed overnight in the hotel in the space of a year and standards have have been consistent over all the Fermain Valley Hotel areas. But this review is for the hotel itself.

I feel like this is such a great place to 'escape' even though it was only for 1 night in my case. I loved the indoor pool with colour changing lights. The pool was open until late at night compared to other hotels I have been to. There was a colourful selection of tea packets in the room as well as the fruit and sherry. The view was brilliant, the room had a balcony with the sea visible in the morning. The hotel's location is reminiscent of a cove in Jamaica. I frequently walk down to the beautiful bay so the scenery is familiar but it still felt like an exotic holiday when I was at the hotel!

The reception employee was welcoming and professional, cheerily pointing out the fruit and free things in our room. I could not hear any noise from the surroundings at night. Everything I used in the room was working fine.
I love Fermain Valley Hotel!

Spent the weekend at the hotel with the family in one of their bigger rooms overlooking the sea. And enjoyed it immensely. Our room was huge with a separate hallway with the bathroom off it. Fruit and a sherry decanter made for a good welcome.

Hotel has a swimming pool, two restaurants (one steak and one Mexican) and it’s own breakfast room. It also has a coffee lounge which does snacks and cake along with very good coffee. Staff are welcoming and helpful and the hotel has a shuttle bus you can book for trips out or runs to the airport. They also booked our restaurant on Saturday and the shuttle leaving us with almost nothing to do but enjoy the food.

Two things to note. The restaurants both got very busy on Friday/Saturday meaning we had to eat out on the Saturday. That’s ok but with a 2 1/2 year old we almost passed her ability to cope time (parents will understand) so I’d suggest you check availability early if you don’t want to eat out.

The other thing to note is that some rooms are at the top of the hill (about 3 mins through) the gardens which might be a challenge for some. Although pretty sure the shuttle bus might be able to help.

Lovely hotel good staff and great views/location. Well worth it.

Another lovely stay, but absolutely 5 stars this time thanks to C on reception making a real effort to accommodate all of our (rather large) team for dinner despite a booked out restaurant... she came up with an ingenious plan, welcomed us warmly and we had a super evening! Many many thanks!

Overall, we enjoyed our 4 night stay in a balcony room with a stunning view of the sea between the mature trees and cliffs that lead down to Fermain Bay. The birdsong every morning is delightful and, on a clear night, the dark sky is amazing. Unfortunately, have to agree with previous review that some of the front of house staff need more training to fit the level expected at 4*.

A superb hotel , very clean with lots of facilities including small indoor swimming pool. Complimentary sherry in room and slippers. Rooms of an excellent standard with plenty of cupboard space, high quality tea and coffee , biscuits, shampoos , bottled water , fresh fruit , iron, hairdryer , toweling robes etc. The annex is quite a trek down a steep hill to the main hotel (through pretty gardens). Ok if not raining and no mobility problems! Disappointed Ocean bar and restaurant not open as March. You have to book in the two restaurants that are open and tough luck if they are already fully booked. Staying in a hotel of this caliber you'd think you could eat an evening meal there if required. Staff tried hard to please and one member of staff outstanding who served us breakfast and in the Rock Garden restaurant, Lucia, was lovely and helpful, making us feel special. We had room service one evening (as no room in restaurants) and would recommend doing that - very nice and saved going into town. The hotel runs its own "taxi" for airport transfers and lifts into town - very useful and helpful driver - saves time and money. The hotel is near good bus routes in and out of town and around island.

Whilst off season (which we prefer) and the main restaurant closed the hotel was warm and welcoming. The rooms overlooking the sea are very well appointed, complimentary sherry and fruit are a nice plus.
Staff are professional and attentive, particular thanks to Cristina on reception.

Idyllic view and quietness. Disappointing food. The chicken burger tasted like the chicken was days old and cooked in another dish, it did not taste of chicken. Lovely staff.

Great for holiday or business but bring a power extension as the rooms have shockingly sparse lower for the 21st century. Feels more like an 80s boarding house
