World Cancer Day 2026

For children and young people with cancer, and the families supporting them, World Cancer Day is a crucial reminder that childhood cancer and its treatment must remain a priority.

The theme for the 2025–2027 World Cancer Day campaign, “United by Unique,” places people at the heart of cancer care. It acknowledges that every cancer story is different, especially those of children, whose journeys are shaped not only by their diagnosis and stolen childhoods, but also by their resilience, hopes, and dreams.

For CWCF, this message resonates deeply. Children are not statistics; they are individuals with futures worth fighting for. This theme encourages communities to listen to patient stories, understand family needs, and build compassionate care and support.

A Day for Hope

World Cancer Day is also a celebration of progress. Survival for childhood cancers in the UK has more than doubled since the 1970s, bringing real hope to families today. Research, improved treatments, and supportive care continue to transform children’s lives.

How You Can Make a Difference This World Cancer Day

Every action, big or small, helps make a meaningful difference in the lives of children fighting cancer today. This is a message we put into action here at Children with Cancer Fund: whether it is a family day out, a cosy caravan respite break, or simply a kind word and a listening ear, every moment of support we offer families has a real positive impact on wellbeing and resilience.

Here’s how you can assist us in our commitment to support every family in East Sussex, Brighton and Hove who have received a childhood cancer diagnosis:

💛 Share Your Story

Personal experiences help to raise awareness and inspire others walking the same path. Stories highlight the unique challenges that childhood cancer brings to every member of the family.

💛 Fundraise or Donate

From bake sales to sponsored walks, fundraising fuels the essential emotional and practical support we can offer our families. Donations ensure we can continue supporting children from diagnosis, throughout treatment, and beyond.

💛 Volunteer

We’re always looking for compassionate, dedicated volunteers to join our team. Whether you can give a few hours a month or would like to join us as and when you can, your time truly makes a difference.

💛 Spread Awareness

Sharing information and campaign messages helps educate others about childhood cancer and the importance of kinder treatments and compassionate support. Please share our posts on social media and invite your friends to follow our pages – we need as many people as possible to support our cause.

Together, We Build a Brighter Future

World Cancer Day is a powerful reminder that we must ensure that every child receives the care, support, and hope they deserve. By standing together, we honour every single person who is fighting cancer today, remember those who we have sadly lost, and celebrate the resilience of every survivor.

Thank you to every one of our supporters for standing with us on our mission to support children and families facing one of the toughest journeys of all.
