Children with Cancer Fund (CWCF) is a small charity based in Polegate that aims to grant wishes for children up to the age of eighteen and their families going through cancer in the East Sussex, Brighton and Hove area.

The wishes we grant can be medical, practical or fun, some recent wishes have included family theater trips, iPads, spa days, a new dishwasher and giant teddies, just to name a few. CWCF also runs exciting events for the families going through cancer to spend some time away from the devastating reality of cancer treatment.

CWCF was set up on 10th July 1998 when two couples named Chris & Ursula and Kirsty & James sat around a table discussing ideas. Two themes came up – ‘children’ and ‘cancer’, so they put the two together and ‘Children with Cancer Fund’ was formed.

For many years, the charity ran from Chris and Ursula’s kitchen table but with support from the local community and volunteers CWCF has grown and supported hundreds of families during its 21 years of running so far.

In 2015, Children with Cancer Fund received the Queens Award for Voluntary Services and has grown a lot since then. We now have a small office which has allowed us to have a few members of part-time staff on board. CWCF does not receive any government funding and relies solely on the generosity of the local community, fundraisers and volunteers, therefore any support we receive is highly valued and appreciated.

This only touches on the work we do here at CWCF, please take a look at our website and visit us on social media to find out more.
