What do our volunteers do?
We could not continue our vital work without our amazing volunteers at Furniture Now! We have volunteers in every aspect of the charity from office admin to van assistants and sales to upcycling furniture. Our volunteers really are the oil on the cogs throughout the organisation.
Why choose to volunteer?
One of the better-known benefits of volunteering is the impact on the community. Unpaid volunteers are often the glue that holds the community together. Volunteering allows you to connect to your community and make it a better place. Even helping us out with the smallest tasks can make a real difference to the lives of people. And volunteering is a two-way street: It can benefit you and your family as much as the cause you choose to help. Dedicating your time as a volunteer helps you make new friends, expand your network and boost your social skills.
Our volunteers come to us for a wide range of reasons. Some of these include: needing work experience and references for future work, to avoid social exclusion and to add routine and structure to their day.
Why choose to volunteer with Furniture?
We try to give as much back to our volunteers as they put in. Some of the things we offer are as follow:
Hear from our volunteers:
“I love painting and decorating, and volunteering at Furniture Now! gives me the opportunity to express my ideas with a never ending supply of projects.” – Sandy, volunteering since Dec 2014.
“The friendliness of the volunteers gives me the confidence to develop within myself. It also helps me with thinking for myself. I have gained work related experience and long lasting friendships.” – Esther, volunteering since Jan 2015.
“I volunteered as I needed to gain work experience. While I was volunteering at Furniture Now! I learnt a variety of skills and met lots of new people. My time at Furniture Now! has led to a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Customer Service which I hope will jump start my career in the future.” – James, Volunteering from January 2013.
