A few months ago you might have spotted this article in the Herald about thebestof Eastbourne winning an award for Community Focus. This was one of my proudest moments being a business owner. Working nearly 7 days a week and for as long as my eyes are open because I want success not only for me but for the business members of thebestof Eastbourne.

From day one I have placed ahead of everything else helping everyone in Eastbourne that really needs it. Yes, my business members pay a subscription (I have bills like everyone else) but charities, associations and sports clubs get to promote themselves via thebestof Eastbourne for FREE. It may be a limited format but the idea behind thebestof Eastbourne is to help every organisation in Eastbourne a place to share their news, events and have a trusted source of local business information.

In the last 3 years we have received over 2,500 positive reviews for our business members. Some members have been with me since the early days of 2011 as they realise that thebestof Eastbourne is part of their long-term marketing strategy not a "quick fix" for just lead generation. Rather a solid foundation on which to build on and to improve their marketing to really show how good they are at what they do and why local customers should choose them over any other business offering the same products or services.

Here is the article that was in the Herald

TheBestOf Eastbourne scooped a national award for its outstanding commitment to supporting the community at a ceremony held on Friday 28th March. The event celebrated the achievements of marketing businesses across the UK, with David Ruddle from thebestof Eastbourne winning the Community Focus award.

As well as working to promote its members who are all local businesses, The BestOfEastbournesupports local groups, charities and other organisations. New initiatives for 2014 include the sponsoring of Eastbourne Rangers' football team shirts. These were unveiled the day after the awards ceremony.

Collecting the award, Mr Ruddle said: "Here at thebestof Eastbourne we choose our business members carefully. They have to be great at what they do and have a passion for a betterEastbourne."

Michelle Downey, head of thebestof comments: "We are thrilled to be recognising and rewarding David Ruddle with The BestOf Community Focus Award 2014. His drive and passion for Eastbourne and the people within it, is clear for us all to see. He tirelessly goes out of his way to make a difference and support his communities locally."
