A double dose of football on the 3G this week….
First up, our ESFL team face Ticehurst FC in a division one clash, 1pm kick off. Ticehurst have have struggled in the league so far having only secured one league victory – a 4-2 away win against local rivals and basement club Wadhurst United. Last week their good run in the Sussex Junior Cup came to an end when they lost 4-0 to ESFL division one leaders Sidley United. Ticehurst have also forfeited a game against the same opponents when they were unable to raise a side at the end of November, thus handing Sidley 3 points without a ball being kicked.
Their league form reads: P6 W1 D0 L5 F9 A18 Pts3. Their top scorer is Robert Briley who has 9 league goals to his name, with some of those goals coming against clubs who have since folded.
Rangers will be in a confident mood after recording three straight league wins in recent games (scoring 14, conceding 2), and with player availability seemingly improving after the winter break; only three points will be good enough for the red and blacks who hope to close the gap on leaders Sidley even further.
Our MSFL team follow straight after in a 3pm kick off on the 3g in the Eastbourne Vice Presidents Cup Quarters Finals against ESFL division five side Hampden Park United. This game will go straight to penalties should the scores be level after 90 minutes.
United have secured 2 league wins this season against Robertsbridge United II and local rivals Parkfield. Their league form reads: P9 W2 D2 L5 F 16 A19 Pts8. Their last win was way back on 31st October when they overcame Robertsbridge in the league but four straight defeats in all competitions soon followed. Their top scorer is Daniel Fox who has five league goals to his name closely followed by Carl Barnes who has netted 4 times in the league.
Rangers are currently unbeaten in 12 games, 11 of those victories in all competitions. Last week’s derby win against Polegate was pleasing, particularly as the conditions were difficult underfoot. The winner of this game will play either Polegate Town II of Herstmonceux II in the semi-finals.
Good luck to both rangers sides.
