Both teams in action this week…..
Our MSFL side travel to Jarvis Brook II where they look to avenge the result suffered earlier in the season when Brook ran out 2-1 winners. Rangers were not at their best that day and have shown considerable improvement since, most notably with straight wins in the last four outings with rangers scoring 16 and conceding 6. Jarvis Brook have also been in good form in the league winning their last 3 league games, but they did slip up in the cup when they were dumped out by division 6 side Fletching.
The Jarvis Brook danger men are Charlie Thompson (9 goals in 6 games) and Charlie Harman (5 goals in 7 games). Rangers very own Glen Noble has also been in good form notching up 8 goals in 7 games, 6 of which have come in the last 4 outings. Brooks league form reads: P6 W5 D0 L1 F28 A9 Pts18.
This is a top of the table clash with Rangers 3 points behind Brook in the division 4 table…..a win is a MUST.
After conquering ESFL Premier division leaders Battle Baptists in the cup last weekend our ESFL team are again in cup action, this time in round 2 of the Sussex Junior Cup against local side Grasshoppers Old Boys who play their football in ESFL division 4.
After a strong start in the league with 3 straight wins, in identical fashion to rangers, Grasshoppers then faced a minor blip in losing their next two games. But four straight wins (3 in cup competitions and 1 in the league) seems to have diverted Old Boys back on track. Last weeks opponents couldn’t raise a team to face Old Boys, but in the previous 3 victories, they have scored 16 goals, conceding 5.
The Old Boys top scorer is Matt Angella who has 5 goals to his name in the current league campaign. Old Boys currently lie fifth in division 4 with a record that reads: P5 W3 D0 L2 F17 A9 Pts9. The rangers marksmen are Ben Jesson (7), Jamie Strong (7) and Dan Wilkes (6).
Old Boys should definitely NOT be underestimated with last weeks application and work rate an absolute necessity if rangers are to qualify for the next round. This game kicks off at 1.30pm at the Eastbourne Sports Park, Pitch 8. For the winners, a trip to either Rottingdean Village II or Burwash awaits…..
Good luck to both rangers teams.
