Eastbourne Rangers make the long and daunting trip to JC Tackleway this week; a team that have lost just once in the league this season, and also the team that inflicted the biggest ever defeat on rangers in their history back in November 2013.
Tackelway have only managed to play 3 times since the reverse in November where they first defeated Herstmonceux 5-3 at Barley Lane before taking a major scalp in the league 7 days later when then inflicted a first league defeat on league leaders Little Chelsea, 3-1. Tackleway had to wait until February 1st for their next game (which is also their last competitive fixture to date) which saw them come up against Herstmonceux in the Robertsbridge Junior Cup on the 3G atSeaford. Tackelway found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline.
Dean Fox and Georges Williams seem to be their main goal threats who have scored 8 and 6 league goals respectively. Their league form is outstanding – P10 W7 D2 L1 F31 A15 Pts23. This form sees them menacingly sit just two points behind leaders Little Chelsea who must now be looking over their shoulders.
Last time out rangers were very poor against a good footballing and counter-attacking side, and as with the first meeting of the two teams, rangers go in to this game on the back of 2 good wins in the league and cup. Last weeks performance against Catsfield was excellent and should have seen rangers win more comfortably. The same application from all the players this week should see rangers come home with a positive result while on the player availability front, rangers hope to welcome back Sean Hardie and Dan Chapman to the squad as well as a fully fit Mike Pickard.
Things are clearly looking up for rangers in what is a big month of football.
