How to get involved with Radio Airbourne in Eastbourne

Radio Airbourne is the soundtrack to the Eastbourne International Airshow. Broadcasting live on FM, and online at radioairbourne.co.uk, from 17th to 21st August 2022. Run entirely by volunteers, we provide information, music, interviews and the flying commentary across the Airshow weekend.
 
Volunteer Social Media Assistant - Help us connect with our listeners
We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative volunteer to look after our social media platforms and assist us in creating engaging content to promote the radio station.
 
If you have a background or interest in online marketing or social media, we are looking for you to join our team. This may suit a college leaver, maybe someone with a particular interest in Social Media, or maybe a student currently studying Media/Marketing.
What will you do?
  • Promote Radio Airbourne across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram,
  • Create audio/visual content for our existing social media channels,
  • Develop a Social Media Strategy for 6 weeks prior to the event and 2 weeks after the event,
  • Work with the wider Radio Airbourne team to create and schedule content to keep our social media platforms fresh,
  • Be present and engaging for the duration of the 4 day event,
  • Talk to members of the public, members of our armed forces, exhibitors and other dignitaries.
What do you need to have?
 
You don’t need specific qualifications or skills but you’ll need to:
  • Be friendly and approachable,
  • Be non-judgemental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own,
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  • Have good IT skills and the equipment/software required to communicate with us and produce content,
  • Most importantly, a real passion for creating high quality engaging Social Media content.
Although not essential, any of the following would be an advantage;
  • Experience of using social media for promotional purposes,
  • Knowledge of different Social Media platforms and being able to identify what would work best for different campaigns,
  • A local knowledge of East Sussex,
  • Experience of producing engaging promotional materials in either print, audio or video,
  • A knowledge of UK air shows, flying displays and aircraft.
How much time do you need to give?
 
The beauty of this is that we can be flexible about the time spent and when you’re available. You would need to be available for the duration of the Airshow but other than that, how and when you volunteer is fairly flexible. Social Media platforms have the flexibility for posts to be scheduled when you are free.
