We all know that number – the number we call in an emergency. But in Eastbourne on 6th and 7th July residents and visitors will be heading along to Western Lawns, just opposite the Grand Hotel, on Eastbourne seafront to see the 26th annual 999 Display.
This is a great outing for both old and young – and all of those between. And what’s more, it’s a free event hosted by the emergency services. You can take a close look at the emergency response vehicles so why not take this opportunity to clamber aboard one of the local fire engines. In addition, there will be an arena hosting various demonstrations from police dogs and sea rescue.
Then why not wind up the day but treating yourself to tea at the Cumberland Hotel and enjoy the view overlooking the Bandstand, or head into central Eastbourne to visit the pier and stop of at the very welcoming Afton Hotel, which is almost opposite.
Organisations taking part are Sussex Police, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, South East Coast Ambulance Service, Eastbourne Council, Maritime and Coastguard Agency and the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution). Also there will also be representatives from voluntary search and rescue and from the French National Gendarmerie present.
