This race is a great way for runners to participate in a wide range of reasoning, whether you are running for the first time or trying for a PB there is a great atmosphere, entertainment and great crowd support from spectators around the race. The race is £22 to take part in.

Eastbourne Half Marathon is this year on its 12th year and is aimed at runners of all abilities. It is a community event and celebrates the great and spectacular nature in and around Eastbourne. The runners are encouraged by bands and entertainment on their way around to get the motivation going. Over the years the Half Marathon has raised £120.000 directly to charity and even more if to include what runners have raised on their own for their own charities.

If runners choose to put their raised money ‘Into the pot’ they can contribute to the cause chosen by the organisers. In 2014 the primary charity was Chestnut Tree House and Regain. After the money have been totalled up the race invites local charities, local school, clubs and associations to apply for funds for support with equipment, to help  project or to provide support. These funds are normally between £200-500.

This year the race is hoping for more than 2000 entrants, following the huge success of 2015.

If you want to watch the runners in this year’s race then head down to Princess Park in Eastbourne which will be the start and finishing line of this year’s race.

Every year the race are looking for volunteers. Have a look at the race website: www.eastbournehalf.co.uk for more information about volunteering next year or participation in the actual race.
