Eastbourne’s award-winning gastropub, Farm @ Friday Street, is holding a three-day Beer Festival on 30th August-1st September, focussing on South Coast beers and accompanied by live music and a special menu in addition to their usual tempting choices.

Manager, Paul Worman, said, ‘Everyone knows Harvey’s. It’s very popular and we always have 5 different beers on tap but this was also a chance to showcase unusual South Coast beers from Cornwall to Sussex that not everyone will know. It’s the fourth time we’ve run a beer festival and they’re always very popular. We also hold others events, as well as live music every Sunday afternoon.’

Visitors have a chance to try 24 South Coast beers, as well as 6 local ciders. Choices included the temptingly tangy Cornish Knocker from Skinners in Cornwall, Laughing Frog from the award-winning 1648 Brewery at East Hoathly and Littlehampton-based Anchor Springs’ Black Pearl Porter.

If you want a boost after a hard week, there are even two beers with ginger – Hastings’ FLO brewery’s Old Town Tom and the irresistible Ginger Tosser from Skinners – a beautifully hoppy honey beer. The aphrodisiac ginger adds real zing to the brew. Another very quaffable ale is English Garden, a hoppy beer with a biscuity malt finish, produced in a converted milking parlour by Franklins Brewery in Bexhill on Sea.

The gastropub already hosts guest ales in addition to their standard beers with regulars even putting in their own requests after trying different brews at the Beer Festival.

Those wishing to sample several beers at the festival could buy tickets – 4 pints or 8 half-pints for just £12 or pay £3.50 a pint. Ideal for those struggling to choose between Old Thumper, Taiphoon, Wight Knight, Golden Tipple and the other 20 South Coast-based beers!
