Celebrating a major milestone

It has been a whirlwind couple of months at Children with Cancer Fund, from bouncing back from the height of the pandemic, to making big decisions about our future.

When the opportunity to buy our office presented itself, we knew what we had to do. We embarked on a mission to raise the remaining funds needed to the secure the building, which is the beating heart of our charity. Without it we would be faced with the added strain of moving and relocation costs, and losing our home. 3-4 The Triangle houses our staff and volunteers workspace, and provides a space for our families to drop into should they need support.

Spreading the word

Hence, we turned to our supporters and, through no surprise to us, they astonished us with their generosity in donating to our fundraiser. Things looked promising. Along with continuing to support our families, the team worked towards attaining our goal so we could seal the deal- this is when we realised we needed to spread the word far and wide. Children with Cancer Fund needed to secure their future!

The local newspapers around Eastbourne and Hailsham came through for us and published our article broadcasting our call to the community to help us raise these funds. To our shock and awe, a donor got in touch with us. Far from what we would have imagined, this donor offered the incredible sum of £50,000 which is what we had remaining as our goal! What followed was tears of joy and pure disbelief.

3-4 The Triangle becomes legally owned by CWCF

Chris, trustee and founder, worked hard over the coming months to make all the necessary arrangements to make the building legally ours. There is a huge team of hardworking people behind this move that made this possible, and to them we would like to say thank you. From those who supported us with the legal aspects, the maintenance of the building, and of course raising the funds, without you none of this would be possible. You are incredible- thank you! What this means for the charity is long term security, which will enable us to continue supporting families around East Sussex.

So what now?

Things have come a long way from the original kitchen table in 1998, but our mission and purpose remain the same. We will continue to fight childhood cancer as best we can, we will be there for our families when they need us, helping with the small things like buying school uniforms, providing parking permits for hospital trips, and offering mini breaks away to offer respite from the effects of treatment.
