Jargon Smargon?! I aim to demystify the jargon that may confuse you when it comes to decorating. If you hear a term not covered below or not 100% feel free to ask via the Facebook Page.

There’s lots of jargon used in any industry and I got to thinking about the terminology I use in the Painting, Decorating and Maintenance world that I use daily and think nothing of and how that translates to the customer.

The first thing that came to mind is describing to customers when my skills come into play and I’m what’s known as a finishing trade.

But what does that really mean and that’s quite a broad term to use which leaves the customer with many questions. It also depends on who you speak to as their skills are built up over many years and now many trades people such as myself have cross-skilled into other disciplines meaning they aren’t just what it says in the tin.

So in my case, I’ve worked on building sites, shop-fitting, landscaping, joinery projects residential and commercial projects and therefore can do more of the jobs you’re looking to get done and wouldn’t think to ask me as Painter and Decorator/ Maintenance person.

So to give you a better idea of a few of the areas I cover please see below and don’t be shy in asking about a bespoke project that you don’t see listed below. As if I can’t help I may be able to point you in the direction of someone who can!
