When Scott Temple sets his mind on something, he commits with heart and humour. Known for his role at Radio DGH and as the founder of Eastbourne Free Walkers, he set off on 22 September with a goal that was as personal as it was ambitious: 140 miles on foot, from Durdle Door in Dorset to the Tower of London.
The challenge wasn’t just about distance. It was about raising awareness and funds for three causes tied closely to Scott’s life:
Radio DGH – the hospital radio station where Scott volunteers on and off the air.
The Chaseley Trust – a local charity supporting adults with complex disabilities, where Scott worked for nearly five years.
Brain Tumour Research – the national charity championing research, especially significant to Scott as a brain tumour survivor.
The road wasn’t easy. There were tears, blisters, aching joints, and moments of sheer exhaustion. But there was also joy, camaraderie, and the drive that kept him moving forward. Scott has lived through the after-effects of brain tumour surgery, ongoing pain, and mobility challenges, yet he still found the strength to keep going day after day.
Sharing updates with his fellow walkers and online supporters, he brought people along for the ride. From seaside paths to city pavements, the journey reflected resilience and the belief that local effort can spark wider change.
Fundraising totals are still being gathered, with support coming in from organised events and direct donations. Anyone still wishing to contribute can do so through the fundraising pages:
Every step has told a story: of personal resilience, of local pride, and of a community that rallies behind its own.
