The Observatory Science Centre
Telescopes, hands-on exhibits, and big ‘aha’ moments—The Observatory makes science an adventure for curious minds of all ages.
Jack Gander said
Was interesting for us two adults and was very cool to see the telescopes, however I wouldn’t recommend unless you have children. There did seem to be events going on but we didn’t stay to watch. Also, there doesn’t seem to be any parking available on site unless you’re disabled. The entrance is mainly for Herstmonceux castle, if you’re coming for the observatory, park at the car park adjacent to the entrance on the same road and walk up, it’s an interesting walk and you can see the observatory in all its glory too.

Seven Sisters Country Park
Clifftop walks, winding trails and dramatic views—Seven Sisters Country Park is the natural backdrop to a brilliant Eastbourne day out.

We stopped off at the National Trust site as we have membership while in the area. Nothing particularly special, they are just cliffs but at least there was a cafe and the national trust building had a room with videos playing explaining about the erosion of the cliffs and how some houses had fallen into the sea. There are some steps down to the beach which has lots of chalk lumps that you can use to write on rocks with.

Tiny trains, giant smiles. Ride the rails, try the mini golf, or just enjoy a cuppa at Eastbourne’s charming steam railway park.

5* as there was a sudden downpour but once finished, the staff were out wiping everything down so it was dry for the littles again. Train is fun and faster than expected. Good selection of food although they were out of the vegan options.

Bought an annual pass as will definitely be back.

Treasure Island Adventure Park
Indoor soft play, pirate adventures and mini golf—it’s all hands on deck at Treasure Island, Eastbourne’s go-to for young explorers.

Took my daughter (age 6) and niece (age 7) both got bored with the tiny soft play area very quickly.
The girls play in the water was abruptly cut short when they came running out screaming because there was a rat swimming in the pool, a member of staff caught the rat and got bitten twice in the process! Meanwhile another rats welfare seemed more of a concern to the manager who kept guard of it after it had run across the picnic area.
The children that remained in the pool were then asked to get out so the chlorine could be checked, something that should have been checked before anyone was allowed to enter.
We bought a picnic with us as the website boasts about a great picnic area but the picnic benches were disgusting absolutely covered in bird poo, ants and left over ketchup and ice-cream that had dropped onto them.
The park was closed with no mention of this on the website or at the gate.
When I asked for a refund for the spoilt day I was told "it's an outside pool it's to be expected" I did eventually get the cost of the outside ticket refunded

Nice trip out here, went on the house tour also which was good and interesting. Currently not all of the house is accessible due to building works, which means I shall have to return another time to see the rest of the house. Gardens were absolutely lovely.
