The West Rocks Hotel is a smaller hotel situated on the Grand Parade in Eastbourne. We had a family suite and it was a nice sized room although the bathroom is a little small and doesn’t have enough hooks to hand towels etc. Parts of the hotel was a little dated but it a nice place to stay if you are looking for a simple hotel by the beach that isn’t too expensive.

It’s also just around the corner from the Devonshire Theatre so we were able to go and see a show and not have far to walk in the evening.

The staff are friendly and helpful and the beach is just across the road with a nice walk that takes you up to the quieter part of the beach. But it’s also only about a 10 minute walk if you want to do some shopping or need to get to the train station

The breakfast offers all the usual things that you would expect for an English breakfast and you get tea/coffee with continual refills.

Room even though at the back and cheap No 7 was a pleasure to sleep in a little small, but white walls with blue accent was calming a little rearranging,smaller wardrobe on entry would make all the difference to room dimensions The hotel was in a perfect location for our stay Eastbourne Air . Large lounge with excellent veranda for sun/people watching. Well decorated modern much better than expected

Me and my partner travelled from Luton to Eastbourne on the 26th of August, unfortunately we arrived at another hotel and were told they were overbooked, we spent a good hour trying to sort a room and several hotels being fully booked we found this hotel. Jacob on the front desk was fantastic, me and my partner are both management from a hotel in Luton and were so impressed with such a high standard of service from him. Room was nice and clean, location was perfect, we will definitely be returning!

When I booked I warned the hotel I was disabled & was assured it was accessible. Arrived to find a number of steps up to the front door which was a problem. The receptionist was unhelpful & seemed to want to be anywhere but where she was. The room, (a deluxe room) was large & had a great view, it was clean apart from the kettle & the sink had a crack in it, the bed was comfortable. We had a meal in the on site restaurant which was a nice place. The food was worth the wait, it was very good & freshly cooked, though I was served soup & not given a spoon. After the poor welcome &attitude of the receptionist, I cannot praise the young man in the restaurant highly enough, if the management read this, Dan is an absolute gem & he turned our visit around for us. We had a good sleep in the room we were allocated. Breakfast is a buffet, but it was plentiful, fresh & well cooked, there were lighter options as well. We were delighted to see Dan again & the only downside for us was that the breakfast room is on the lower ground floor with no view & as it is enclosed was very stuffy., we had a problem with the door to our room, when we locked it, it didn't want to let the key go, took 15 minutes to get it out. The hotel does need some updating but is certainly pleasant enough.

Just been on a 6 day tour with David Urquhart, we vowed never to go again to Eastbourne because of some bad experiences at the Strand hotel however we decided to try again and are we glad we did.The hotel is clean well decorated and the staff made us very welcome especially the Manager/owner.The rooms are spacious and we'll furnished with excellent bathroom(shower cubicle).The breakfast is self service and to die for-a great start to the day.Dinners were basic and adequate and tasty except the inedible fish pie(I think someone else said this please sort out before we return).All inall an excellent stay and would have no hesitation in returning next year David and Andrea Grist

Very enjoyable holiday. We booked a Superior Room with a sea view. Room very clean, bed comfortable. Clean towels every other day. On the down side the furniture was not attractive. A nice coffee table instead of a large heavy desk would have been much nicer. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Breakfasts were excellent. Dinners adequate. My wife was disappointed with the lack of vegetarian options. £2 Happy hour (actually two hours) was an unexpected delight. Would definitely come back again.

we were on a calendonian coach trip to Eastbourne & stayed 1 week from the 14th july on B&B & 3 course evening meal, we were given room 21 which was a avenge room with no sea view the first morning had trouble with the shower as the water wasn't getting away & you had to be careful not to flood the place anyway reported it at receiption where we met ian who we believe was the manager who then said to us would you like another room we have room 36 you can have its a family room which is bigger & its got a sea view well what a difference we were delighted with it a lot better view yes from that moment our holiday just seem to take off & for that reason alone the hotel deserves a 5 star rating , there are a few small things which I will mention that could improve a little bit, could do with a better lift not safe for older people or children, not the best choice of drinks no plain cider or blue vodka for my wife, loved the breakfasts in the mornings,i really liked the yogurt blackcurrant at the bottom with the yogurt on top, apart from the tea or coffee which was served everything else you helped yourself the cooked breakfast had everything including mushrooms & black pudding, at night were given a menu with a few choices for all 3 courses which were always good value the only small point that a few people on the coach pointed out that some of the sweets like chocolate fudge cake & others were sometimes served plain & could of done with a bit of cream or ice cream on , but couldn't fault any of the staff sometimes they had to multi task like being on the desk then next minute serving drinks but all were nice & polite , there was a nice young lady with dark hair & glasses who often served us I managed to thank her before we left with good memories , this hotel is right on the sea front & only minutes from the pier ,

Stayed here recently, breakfast fantastic, room facing sea brilliant and large, bathroom good (shower was quite weak and water temperature just about warm) all very clean and well presented. Bed was excellent very comfortable had a great nights sleep. Fantastic value for money b&b

Went with friends for a birthday meal tonight in the restaurant. Had a drink in the bar first. Compliments to the chefs.food was really good. Service was excellent. And the young man was really friendly and polite and saw to all our needs. Even if you are not staying there. Would definitely recommend it. Great value for money.aswell. x

Just returned from our very enjoyable 3rd stay in 4 years at West Rocks. Each time we visit we see improvements as the owners steadily upgrade the hotel. A significant improvement is the West Rocks Beach Bar on the beach across the road from the hotel. Not even the prestigious The View hotel nearby can boast this facility. The Beach Bar with its sea breeze was very welcome in the heatwave.
The breakfasts were good, the beds comfortable and the Channel restaurant seemed popular.
Re previous comments about the additional cost of breakfast, my advice is speak to the hotel before booking through the usual sites. I book direct with the hotel and get breakfast included in the room price plus the free cancellation policy up to 5 days before travelling.
PS already booked for next year!

What can I say about the food. When I’m going to dinner I wouldn’t normally try a Hotel restaurant, I would normally go into town or the harbour. However I am so glad I took a stroll along the seafront and went in.
The food was incredible, I had the Tuna Steak on the Lava Stone and my friend had the Ribeye on Lava Stone. We ended up sharing half of each and the steak melted in your mouth and the Tuna was to die for.
We were only going to have a main but ended up having the cheese board for 2 and then the chocolate orange tart. It was absolutely delicious. I would recommend for sure.

breakfast is advertised as yummy I'm afraid it is not,bacon overcooked,the tea cups on the tables need washing,overall not worth £8-00.The only good thing about this is they have a happy hour every night between 8pm to 10pm.They have a lift but very awkward to get in & out of it,I had to help 4 elderly ladies get out of it.

21 of us were welcomed here for 4 days by the excellent manager Ian, who went out of his way to make sure our large group were looked after. As a bunch of golfers all aged 50+ it often difficult to find hospitality as good as we received at West Rocks. The "yummy breakfast" buffet was hearty and plentiful and just the job to send us on our days on the wonderful golf courses close by. The rooms were clean and comfortable and there were no complaints apart from one room with a dodgy shower, but this was fixed immediately when mentioned.

The location is perfect, and as we were blessed with fabulous weather (mostly) we made good use of the new West Rocks Beach Bar on the esplanade directly opposite the hotel.
Our presentation dinner in a private dining area was fantastic and the staff at the hotel were really first class throughout our stay.

Suffice to say that we will be returning in the future.

What an amazing hotel and run with such expertise, beautiful seafront location overlooking the stunning coastline, amazing, comfortable and such high cleanliness throughout, the staff here are so friendly and polite, and the restaurant has the most superb menu, the food was mouth watering, this is certainly the place to be I really could not fault my stay here and will certainly be returning, thank you x

My Girlfriend and me stayed here last weekend and had an amazing stay. The views were amazing and in a great location; close to town and practically on the beach!. Hotel was tidy and clean and the staff could not have done any more to make sure we were comfortable. Value for money compared to the other hotels on the seafront was very good. The food was very nice and there was a varied menu which satisfied the fussiest eater in my partner. If visiting must check out the Beach Club across from the hotel and the Club in the town centre TJ's both were incredible value on drinks and a great setting.

Well, what an amazing place too stay!! Waking up too view of the beach is amazing, especially on a nice sunny day!! The staff at the west rocks hotel are amazing. Professional, friendly and just overall make you feel so welcome!! The food is amazing, and the rooms are up too a very very high standard. Would recommend too anyone and everyone!!

My wife and I stayed in a sea view room which was comfortable, clean and welcoming and had a fabulous view.
The staff were very friendly and attentive and the food in the restaurant was really enjoyable and reasonably priced.
The hotel is close to the pier and a short distance from a hub of restaurants, cafes and variety shops, including a shopping centre. Which made exploring the town very easy.
We will definitely be returning and would recommend the hotel to all our family and friends. It is the best value for money hotel we have stayed in for a very long time.

This is a lovely hotel situated on the seafront, friendly and helpful staff, our room was a nice size very clean an we had a fantastic night sleep, with amazing see views, Would definitely recommend going back again..

Very comfortable room with a great view of the sea. There's a comfortable public room downstairs with books and board games, but we didn't have time to use that. Very close to the theatre and the front, lots of good restaurants close by. Good breakfast.

I’ll keep it brief , lovely hotel in a great location , parking can be tricky sometimes but only £1 for 24hrs if you pop into the hotel first and grab a parking voucher . Good size rooms if you book a double over looking the sea . Nice restaurant but mainly fish dishes . Very clean and super staff 😊

We chose this hotel at random based mainly on its location and other people's reviews. The West Rocks Hotel certainly didn't disappoint. The overwhelming impression is one of its excellent staff who go all out to make your stay as stress-free as possible. Every single member of staff we encountered was friendly and (seemingly) happy in their work and this positive energy created a warm and welcoming ambience.
Our first floor twin room was spotlessly clean had a great sea view. The weather was glorious so we were very happy to find that one of the bay windows opened fully, allowing us to enjoy the fresh air and cool sea breeze. (Our last two Brighton hotels had window mechanisms that prevented windows being opened more than a couple of inches to safeguard its guests and discourage suicide apparently, or so we were informed).
The breakfast is usually served buffet-style, but as the hotel was quiet, they cooked food to order. Our poached eggs were perfectly done, ditto the bacon and sausages which were of good quality. There was a good choice of cereals, juices and fresh fruit salad too.
Our only slight niggle was the taste of the tea and coffee in the room. They use premium brands for both so I can only assume it was the water, or possibly the kettle, that spoilt the flavour. Everything else was spot-on, and although not a luxurious hotel, this is reflected in the price of the West Rocks, which offers excellent value for money.
The position in the town is great, being a short stroll away from a vast selection of bars and restaurants and also within walking distance of the station. There is a great deal of regeneration going on in Eastbourne at present which will no doubt take the town from strength to strength.

I stayed here for two nights during a stay in Eastbourne. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the food in the restaurant was excellent, would highly recommend the steak! The sea view from the room is lovely on a sunny day and you are literally a one minute walk from the beach and five from the pier
