we stayed in room 24 this time round, it was clean and spacious, staff are amazingly helpful and friendly.. location is perfect for getting around Eastbourne and the West rocks beach cafe opposite serves the best coffee and pastries in town.. I fully recommend this place if your visiting Eastbourne xx

This was my 6th visit to this hotel. The staff are so friendly and helpful.The bar is cheap,food excellent and my room was clean which had recently recently been refurbished ,. The hotel was on the sea front so i had a fantastic sea view.It is in a great location too. I can't wait to go back next Spring.

Right on Eastbourne seafront. Lovely clean amenities, cosy room. Staff were all really friendly. Food was delicious. Can't fault a thing. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit Eastbourne.

The location is perfect, the staff so friendly and helpful. My partner and I were here for a special trance weekend and we really appreciated the way the hotel adapted to the change of times and activities with the food catering being so right. My kind of place!

My mother and I stayed here for two nights in a twin deluxe room, number 18. It was such a beautiful room, with great sea views. Staff were lovely and breakfast was great. Location amazing. Would definitely return.

Had seaview double room for 2 nights, with a group of family and friends to celebrate Birthday. The sea view from front bedroom is breathtaking. Bed gave me best nights sleep in weeks. Room is spacious, clean, considered, well maintained. Staff are friendly, efficient, go above and beyond. Bar is open as long as you need. Breakfast basic yet generous. Value for money is excellent! My weekend was beyond all expectations, thanks to the Hotel and Beach Club.

Lovely hotel to stay at very affordable prices and near to the beach staff are wonderful and very helpful would go again and recommend to friends and family nice and cosy rooms with showers got to know the staff while we were there lovely people and can't wait to go back

On arrival the guy behind reception was very pleasant and allowed early check in. He offered hairdryers and breakfast and talked about the hotel. The room was very small and the bathroom even smaller however clean and tidy very dated. The view at the rear of the building was not great either. The breakfast was very nice and again pleasant staff.

I visited Eastbourne to attend the tennis at Devonshire Park, location was excellent very close to venue.
Room was comfortable and clean but was very warm at night even with window wide open, this may have been because we were at top of house.
Staff very helpful

Hotel is located 5 minutes walk to the main restaurants and high street and 10 minutes to the Pier. Recommend to stay here for a short stay.

On arrival staff welcoming, friendly and helpful.The beds as everyone says are comfy. We were on the 4th floor in a twin room; a little small, though sufficient for our requirements for a 2 night stay.

You have to request a hairdryer at Reception. There is lift access to all floors (its a retro 1930s type small lift btw) There is plenty of lounge space to relax in with a drink from the bar and balcony overlooking the road/seafront. Room was average size. Large tv good channel selection. Very large wardrobe fully mirrored sliding wardrobe (excessively big for size of room!) . Bathroom: shower pressure and hot water good - tho barely room to swing a cat and dry yourself. Room overall was clean, well presented and sufficiently met needs.

Across the road down the steps to the beach is the (very popular) hotel's seafront Beach Club serving drinks, cakes and pastries and hot food (from 12 noon). Recommend. Very friendly staff and good atmosphere

Minor negative points however for the Hotel - (notices saying they are renovating). Stayed in room 47 (4th floor). Curtains didn't close properly. No safety measures at the window (we could open the sash fully and lean out) . Stucco wallpaper peeling/flapping at the window. Shower curtain needs to be either longer or lowered as partial flooding on floor. Room phone was out of order and notice advising issue (for any emergencies and unable 'to go to reception' be a bit stuck if no mobile phone to dial 111/999.)

WiFi. Appalling signal. Did mention and Receptionist rebooted the router (and explained access points only go up to the 3rd floor) and after got a flaky connection in the room. On a side note we actually got a better signal from The View hotel across the road in our bedroom and on the lounge balcony(!)

Breakfast. Only had cereal and fruit cup. Can't really comment here but selection was plentiful and varied. Were late going down and last knockings available on the cooked breakfast but we weren't that hungry. Guess best to get down early to benefit.

Overall - enjoyed our stay and would return tho will choose a 'better' room next time with larger bathroom and a bit more space.

The Channel Restaurant is not open 'hasn't been open for a few months/weeks' (sorry cant remember which) - Management suggest you update your social media accordingly.

For beach goers (I guess during high season) - there are deck chairs (at the bottom of the steps by the Beach Club) and sun beds (by the lifeguard hut) if you don't fancy sitting on the pebbles! Collected by the lifeguard c. 4.30pm

Taxi (loads of) from the station to the hotel £4 or a 15 minute walk.

Tip: October 2019: check out what is going on at the Bandstand (regular concerts) and at the local theatre a 3 minute walk (also art gallery)

we have just got back from a relaxing 4 days. We left this hotel with a smile on our faces. Very reasonable priced and lovely cosy room. The staff are very polite lovely people. Especially a young lady called emily she could not of done enough for us thank you emily.😀 And for this reason we will be definitely be returning to this hotel 😀 we would definitely recommend. And a lovely clean beach a stone away from the hotel The town centre is a 5 min walk away excellent food I can't I can't say enough about this hotel. And we would you book direct with them and you get free breakfast. 😀

For me and my partner, the view from our chosen bedroom on the second floor was the winner.
The hotel is being slowly renovated by the owner, so there are areas which are better than others.
Our bedroom and on-suite had been done, so was quite smart. It was a big bay windowed room with two and table over looking the sea, promenade, band stand, and pier.
The staff were very personable and friendly.
Breakfast was a buffet style, which was reasonable as buffets usually are. The basement dining room has been refurbished to a nice standard.
We had the opportunity of having some evening meals, because they had a coach party of "mature" folk, who were on half-board. Fare food choice and quality , certainly good value .
There was some basis entertainment while we there, probably because of the coach party and drinks were 2 for 1 from 8 until 10
We observed inconsistency in cleanliness, wash basin was our main gripe.
Parking our car was a nuisance even though the hotel resident scheme was excellent, £1 for a day+ up to 11 am next day giving time to have breakfast or vacate ones room. There appeared to be lots of parking bays but it was a busy period so vacancies were soon snapped up.
Despite some small failings, we would go back again.

Highly recommended. Lovely Victorian building, all my needs catered to without charging a fortune for ostentation. Perfectly situated at beach front with a cute veranda with lovely view. Staff extremely helpful and friendly, clean and tidy with a fabulous breakfast. Lovely quiet downstairs rooms to read and a comfortable bright bar, talk friendly, no gaudy loud cabaret acts. If you like your hotels like this at fantastic pricing this is the one for you. DEINITELY A MILLION PERCENT coming here again.

Stayed over the airshow whilst in Eadtbourne why we travelled around the south of England on our trip from Holland. We are glad we chose the hotel. Lovely view, cheap parking, comfy clean sea view room, a very very 'yummy' breakfast and a beach bar owned by the hotel on the beach itself. A big thank you to David for his introduction to flavoured gins and to all his staff that we saw and those we didn't see for a lovely weekend, for always having smiles and helping out where necessary including parking troubles and making our weekend really enjoyable. We will be back soon to see more of eastbourne as we only saw the amazing planes and did not leave the sea.

My wife and I stayed for the weekend of the airshow. Lovely staff but considering the hotel being fully booked and already has a good season this year money should be better spent on the décor. Carpets looking very tired near the reception, the laminate wooden floor in reception looked very tired. Our room went back to the '80's, the window frame rotting away, shower room had no vent axia so mold forming on top left wall! reasonably clean room though. If money is pumped into this hotel it would be tons better

We had a seaview room but this was spoilt by old dog ends thrown out of the window onto the balcony and stubbed out in the grooves of the window pane!! The remote control was filthy and we had to ask for it to be cleaned and generally the room had not been cleaned properly. Kettle broken. Door hung off of bathroom. Good size room and comfortable bed but expensive for what it was. The breakfast was good and the staff were excellent and to be fair they did deal with the problems we had efficiently (especially Emily). This hotel would be great if it had a much needed refurb. It has some nice touches but everywhere is a bit grubby!! To be fair the staff dealt without complaints very professionaly. Thankyou Emily and David. Hopefully the hotel picks up on people's comments and improve what could be a great hotel.

This hotel is amazing,from management to the cleaning staff everyone is so friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them.me and my family have been visiting this hotel year after year for the great location and value for money I would just like to thank Ian and all his staff including the beach hut for making our holidays at the west rocks so memorable and enjoyable.....all the best guys,see you next year..perry

Stayed at the west rocks hotel with my husband and three children, hotel was lovely nice and clean staff were lovely and helpful was generally a nice easy stay. Would definitely book another stay again in the future.

Stayed here for a couple of nights getaway, lovely hotel , clean ,accommodating, breakfast was worth the money , very relaxing place , decoration was very pleasant to look at , right on the sea front and walking distance from Eastbourne town centre ,good value for money ,highly recommend

I chose this hotel primarily for its location as I was seeing a show at the bandstand with friends the following evening & they had also booked a room at the hotel. I booked myself a single room with seaview. Managed to find a parking space opposite which was great & bought a parking voucher which only costs £1 & is valid until 11am the following day. Check in was good & the receptionist was friendly so all got off to a good start. My room was on the 1st floor & had a lovely seaview. It was however very small, being narrow & only 6ft wide & could've done with some TLC. It felt quite caustrophobic.
The showerroom was tiny & not much room at all. It was clean though so I couldnt fault that. No bedside table or lamp so you had to get out of bed to switch off the light. Extremely hot so I searched in the wardrobe for a fan, there wasnt one & as the phone wasnt working, I had to go back to reception to ask for one.
About 6pm I fancied a snack so I went to the bar, noone there, rang a bell & the receptionist came back, asked if I could have a sandwich & was told they only serve crisps or nuts! The hotel owns a fabulous bar/cafe on the beach which I have been to on several occasions previously so I thought i'd give that a go, no joy as they had stopped serving food by then, so eventually I ended up in the bar lounge at The Cavendish Hotel & had my sandwich there.
The receptionists on check in & out were lovely & I would definitely visit the bar on the beach again but I doubt I would stay at this hotel on my next trip to Eastbourne. I have stayed in Single rooms in other hotels in the area & they have been much better for the same price...

Quite a few people were using the bar which was lovely, everyone was so friendly, staff and visitors alike, this made for a lovely relaxing evening.
The breakfast was perfect, something for everyone
