I have stopped here twice over the course of a year. My first time was a fleeting glance. However, I stopped in the single sea view room, which was well equipped with a flat screen/plenty of tea etc & a comfortable bed, which was needed after the long drive from Leicester.
Therefore, after that first visit in 2015, I have been telling friends they should pop down to Eastbourne because of the town is on the change (for the better) and obviously stop at The West Rocks Hotel. They would be treated as royalty on arrival.
So many friends have ventured down there, enjoyed themselves, and of course, relaxed in the hotel's soothing surroundings. And come back with nice reports.
So finally, in 2016, I was excited to be invited down again in the latter part of February and play some tunes at some friend’s birthday party. Of course, this was also being held at the hotel.
Well the owners & hotel staff outshone themselves this time; nothing was too much trouble, even with the hotel's full rooms compliment.
Beside putting together breakfast for a full house, the chef had laid on a huge finger buffet on the Saturday evening. He must have worked flat out to cater for everybody.
However, I must mention, having tried the in-house menu previously, the food served was very tasty (and for people watching their waistline, like myself) the amount was just enough. Moreover, of course is on par with many top London restaurants.

So well done West Rocks Hotel, you have raised the bar yet again and from what I hear, once the new improvements have been done, it will knock it up to another level.
I intend to visit there again (with the other half) sometime later in 2016, so I shall give myself something to definitely look forwards to in the near future.

An early valentines meal for the Mrs & I. Was served by a young man called Leon who was extremely polite and helpful. Very bubbly and always had a smile on his face. He recommended the steak dish. Now the steak, it was absolutely amazing, great idea to do it on a hot stone, food was great, will definitely be returning. Lovely setting, and good seats overlooking the sea!

We stayed here for 3 nights (Feb2016) The room was warm, clean and cosy. The beds were very good, we slept well.
All the staff we encountered we polite, friendly and very helpful.
The breakfast was very good as was the evening meal which was lovely home cooked conventional food.
As far as value for money goes you really can't beat this hotel.

Stayed here for three nights just after Christmas. We had a double part sea view room which was very big and comfortable. I had requested a bathroom with shower only and was pleased to get a shower that was easy for my husband to step in and out of. Good quality toiletries, but would have liked a bigger shelf in the bathroom. The bed was very cosy and big (two single beds pushed together).

I found it a little usual to be asked "how many pieces of toast" I wanted, it's normal just to put a toast rack on the table after asking if you want white or brown toast. Having said that, the breakfast was very good.
The staff are very friendly and we would definitely stay there again if we went back to Eastbourne. Car parking was very easy for us as we have a blue badge and was able to park quite nearby and for free! The daily cost of parking is at the moment £1 and reception gives you a ticket to put in your car. Overall we had a nice relaxing stay.

All problems encountered have been sorted now but i feel people need to know what happened. I booked a room for 2nd january 2016 for myself and my partner as we had planned to visit family in the local area. Also it was my partners birthday on new years eve. I cancelled the booking though booking.com. There was a cancellation fee which i was not aware of. I cancelled due to lack of funds three days before. So i thought i would be charged just the cancellation fee. It turns out someone at the hotel tried to charge £400 to my debit card and because that failed they tried a lower amount. They when the first amount failed then they should of called me about it, not just take a lower amount. Both amounts were unauthorised and the member of staff has been dealt with. It caused a lot of financial problems for me so not a very good start to 2016. It could of been worse though. The hotel manager (ian) has now corrected all problems and i dont need to go into detail. The free nights stay was very good. Nice sea view double room. We will be visiting again in 2016 as we visit family regularly in eastbourne. Many thanks ian.

i booked a room here for 2nd January 2016 but i had to cancel but doing so caused a lot of financial problems between myself and the hotel. I will not go into detail about this as it has all been discussed with the manager. He gave me and my partner a sea view double room free of charge which was very much appreciated. Good view of the sea and a well presented room. We did not get the chance to try the breakfast as we had to leave early. The staff that checked us in were very pleasant even when they were aware of what had happened between the hotel and myself. The manager (Ian) has been very kind regarding the problems. I have worked in the travel industry for over 14 years and i have never had that kind of problem happen before regarding booking/cancelling a hotel. The matter has now been resolved. Myself and my partner make fairly regular visits to Eastbourne to see family and friends. I would recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.

My husband, my 2 children and I stayed at this hotel. It has been done up so nice and still going on. The staff were really nice and was very helpful. The lift was old fashioned and the doors were a nightmare trying to get a pram into but at least the lift worked. My only disappointment was in our room above the bed my children were in it looks like a headboard had been removed and bits of random wood had been left on the wall with sharp jagged edges. Not good when you have a 2 year old in the room. The breakfast was lovely again as we're the staff. Would stay again

One has to remember that the building is over 100 years old and listed, therefore there are certain things the owners cannot do such as change the sash windows or the small lift with a concertina inner door. The improvements already made to the ground floor eating areas and reception are good. Lots of original features in the breakfast room. We had room 43 which had a sea view, the room itself had been refurbished. Bed was excellent really spacious. However our TV didn't work, turned out someone had nicked the aerial cable. However staff came and resolved this quickly. There was also no phone although didn't realise we were supposed to have one until our last evening. The windows rattle a bit but did not disturb me, although installing secondary glazing may help. The bathroom is in need of updating. Modern toilet but that's it. The shower cubicle is outdated as is the shower although it was adequate, and it does have pink tiles, what I did not like was the sliding wooden door to access the bathroom, noisy at night if you need to visit the bathroom. The heated towel rail did not work and a new fuse was put in, but to no avail so they need to replace that. Breakfast was very good but no rice krispies! Always get them at hotels nut not this one. Cooked breakfast was good, help yourself from the buffet. We ate in the Channel Restaurant one evening, the food was excellent and I would definitely recommend it. Excellent value for money. The staff are very friendly, multitasking and helpful and that is what makes this hotel so good. The hallways are being refurbished during January when the hotel is shut. The current owner had had the hotel 2 years so it is work in progress. My husband booked a 2 night break as a surprise and I was not disappointed will definitely come here again.

My husband and I stayed here on Saturday night as we were visiting family in Eastbourne and thought we'd make a night out of it. When we arrived we were very lucky to get a parking space directly opposite, at only £4 for 24 hours. Although when we went into reception they did ask us if we wanted a parking permit, so I am guessing you can get free parking if you ask.
The reception was very modern and clean and tidy. We were welcomed with by a friendly member of staff and surprisingly were not asked to provide a credit card, but to pay when we leave.
Our room was town facing but was spacious and very clean and well decorated with neutral colours. The bed was so comfy and honestly I had the best nights sleep in ages. The only downside I could say was the shower was a bit wonky and the water power wasn't very strong. But other than that the room was perfect.
We didn't try the breakfast as we opted to have a lie in, but hopefully next time we can try it.
When we left, again we were greeted warmly by another friendly member of staff.
I would definitely stay here again!

Have eaten here before and it was excellent. Sunday lunch was just as good. Food came quickly and staff were lovely. Haven't stayed here as live in Eastbourne so can't comment on rooms etc but highly recommend the restaurant side.

This hotel stay was a gift, for Xmas, First of all I would say parking in Eastbourne is difficult near the hotel, which is situated on the sea front, the hotel has had a light refurb and was clean and bright, our room was large and had all the usual facilities, tea, coffee, kettle and TV. The thing that attracted us most about it was, it is pet friendly, they have a number of rooms dedicated for pets, which ours was. Saying that, the room was clean and not a animal hair in site or smell and comfortable. The bed was fine but the furniture was looking a little tired. The bathroom was a little compact but serviceable and clean,
It does have a lift, which is small and very slow, so be prepared to wait or take the stairs, the dinning area was bright and very clean, and nicely deck out for Christmas. The food was presented well, hot and cooked properly, a buffet type, dinning, eat as much as you like, with a good variety enough I think to cover all taste. The staff we encounted were all very friendly and attentive, as was one of the owners we bumped into. It is close to the town centre and theatres, with the sea front just in front of the hotel. My partner and I would stay here again, just for the pet friendly status, the pugs loved it, although they kept us awake playing lol,

Had a really fun night at the West Rocks Hotel with my work last night. The rooms have lovely original features, are warm and welcoming and the Xmas decs were really pretty! The food was really good and extra Gravy was placed on our tables without asking (always a bonus)! Prosecco isn't over priced and our meal also included half a bottle of wine!! The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. It's not a huge venue but it was perfect for our party of 32! I would definitely recommend this up and coming hotel.

We stayed for the weekend 27-29 November 2015. We had a small but perfectly adequate room, tiny bathroom but it was the staff who give this Hotel an excellent rating - they could not have done more to make our stay as fantastic as it was. They did everything in their power to make our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was included and was fantastic. We would highly recommend this hotel!

We had two nights with our dog. We were made welcome from start to finish and room 2 which was specially allocated suited us perfectly. The breakfasts were as good as promised and most enjoyable. Service was high quality throughout very friendly and helpful. Dinner was a revelation, really good fish and steaks. Reasonably priced and freshly cooked. We will certainly visit again.

Home made yogurt was great. You need to ask for Marmite at breakfast. Breakfast itself was really good (maybe not the sausages) and coffee could be better, but again the service was good.
Its right on the front and within easy walking distance of the pier and town and major theatres.

Just had three very accommodating days at this hotel . staff are willing to go the extra mile to help in any way especially with my gluten free problem. Had a delicious evening meal. A very warm and friendly hotel, will certainly stay again.

Just returned from our second visit to The West Rocks Hotel. Last time, in May, there were signs advising a recent change of ownership and on-going renovation. The work was unobtrusive and did not affect us. We had a most enjoyable stay, such that we returned in November for two nights. The signs are still posted, but we saw no work in progress. It is difficult to pinpoint the changes/improvements, but they are there.
The hotel is nicely decorated, bright, cheery and clean. The staff are efficient, friendly and helpful. The "yummy" breakfast, is just that. It is buffet-style and replenished frequently so fresh and hot.
Hard to find any criticism - perhaps a wider double bed.
We are sure to return.

Hotel location is perfect, it's just right opposite to pier, 10 mins walk away. Our room (no.29) is double deluxe room and we have a bay window and seaview is perfect. We had dinner at hotel's restaurant, it was £15 for 2 course and delicious. You don't need to go out for dinner, probably you can't find better place, it was just perfect meal.
Breakfast is a buffet and you can eat two three times English breakfast, amazing :) Also they let us stay one more hour than the normal check out time, manager was so kind gentleman. My fiance had a birthday and we enjoyed our time. Thank you.

Booked for close proximity to dance congress that I was attending. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Excellent value for money - room clean, bed comfy, bathroom a lovely shade of 50's pink but very clean and all the essentials there. My only issue is THE CHRISTMAS TREE in early November!!!!!!!

We stayed do two nights and had a sea view room. The room was not the biggest but extremely clean and warm. The bed was sooo comfy. Lovely en suite which apparently the shower is next in line for a up date tho we didn't have a problem with it.
Breakfast was lovely and fresh and the staff very happy and attentive. All in all very enjoyable stay and would highly recommend

Very good hotel for a visit to Eastbourne, rooms a little small but very clean, views of sea and good restaurant, good breakfast, only thing wrong, cold plates, I do like a warm plate for a fry up.all in all a very nice hotel for a visit.

The hotel is situated amongst others right on the Sea front on Grand Parade adjoining Howard square. It is still undergoing a re-fit but we had a lovely stay. We were allocated room 41 with a sea view however we felt the room to be on the small side and the en suite had a small shower and no bath. We requested a change for a room with a bath and staff were most helpful providing another room. this was number 36 which was larger and although not at the front we still had a good view of the beach and promenade. Breakfast was very good a choice of full English cereals and fruit. We would have eaten in the hotel for dinner but for us not a lot of choice on the menu.
WiFI is available in the guest lounge but understand that once all the refurbishment is complete it will be available in other areas.
Will we go back yes most definitely.
