Had two nights here from 29th July 2016.. Have 2to say only booked it a couple of weeks earlier and did have trouble finding somewhere in Eastbourne. Luckily the deal was for a Seaview deluxe room.. The sea view is lovely especially as we were on the 2nd floor. The hotel is on the promenade and only 5 mins walk from the main shops with restaurants etc..and the bandstand ,and pier too. So central. The hotel next door is being painted so has scaffolding up at it.. We couldn't hear them but be careful to pull the curtains that side when you are changing. The bar,and restaurant have been done up tastefully, we didn't eat there though so can't say what the food is like.. The room has been done up too but looks a bit of a patch up on the ceilings and some walls etc. The bathroom is small but was clean except around the door frame. Linen and bed was good and the towels were changed every day.. tea and coffee tray was provided. .shame no biscuits though!,
The room was quiet but if you had a from near the decrepid mini lift ,it could be a different story..
It ws my fault but I didn't notice that breakfast was not provided when we booked o Priceline or booking dot.com.. when we asked they said it was due to us booking online and they had to pay a comision. . If you booked the night before for breakfast it was 8 pounds.. if you just said you wanted it that morning it was10 pounds.....each!,,, I thought that was a lot.
we didn't bother the first morning. .just walked to a restaurant up the road. .but the 2nd morning we gave it a try... It certainly was NOT worth the price asked..
some fresh fruit, simple supermarket brown or white bread.jam,butter,no flora..variety of cooked items,,no tomatoes.cereal.. I asked for scrambled eggs,,which a nice girl brought to me. ..but they were so rubbery and odd hard bits...when she collected the plate,I did say it wasn't very nice.. she just looked really scared and didn't say anything.. the staff were friendly but we felt they needed a bit of training cleaning the tables and filling coffee cups. . Of course I may have just had a bad experience.
I enjoyed my stay and loved having a sea view but though it was fairly expensive for that level of hotel and no breakfast provided.. parking has to be found outside the hotel on the promenade..we did manage this on two occasions. .plus it only cost a pound.. now that was good value.x

Stayed here for two nights on a short break. Was in room 10, not quite a sea view although you can see some sea from the window. The room was somewhat dated but lovely large bed, room was comfortable, spacious enough and clean. The downstairs has a really nice vibe, clean stylish and welcoming. Food was amazing, we both had the hot rock steak on the first night and fish and chips on the second. Breakfast both days was really tasty, and all the staff were friendly polite and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again.

The West Rocks won't be the most characterful place you'll ever stay. But it's perfectly situated - right on the seafront, just 5 minutes walk west of the pier. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. And the breakfast was excellent - an extensive buffet with everything from full English to watermelon. I think we were the only ones there, other than the staff, who were under 80 and enjoying unimpaired use of all our limbs, so the presence of a lift to all floors may also be seen as an attractive feature by many visitors.

Have recently spent three nights at this hotel. I requested same room that I previously had & this was granted. It would be nice to maybe have biscuits on the tea/coffee tray. Breakfast was quite good although found bacon to be a little too hard after being under heat lamps. I asked for scrambled eggs which arrived nicely cooked. I had one evening meal at hotel, steak cooked by myself on hot stone at table, I also had Sunday lunch which was good. Would definitely stay here again.

Great hotel, rooms were lovely and clean, bathroom small but clean and all you needed. Staff were super friendly and helpful, stayed in the bar long after it was closed and never felt like we had to retire.

As going to Eastbourne for mum's 90th birthday we needed an easy access hotel on the seafront. This doesn't disappoint. There are about 6 steps at the side but can get access with wheelchair if needed but we did find this a bit awkward as is the lift it being not very big. Mum managed the steps and we left the wheelchair in the car so wasn't a problem for us. Danni (who has now left) gave us a brilliant clean room overlooking the sea. It was very spacious as was the bathroom and mum had no problems moving around with her Zimmer frame. The shower isn't a power shower but it was adequate. We were also very impressed with how clean everywhere was. If you book directly with hotel the breakfast is included if not it is extra so bear this in mind. We found it perfectly good for our needs and was it was replenished regularly. We did dine there on mum's birthday at night and the food was lovely. In fact for a 2* hotel it was very impressive & worthy of a lot more expensive restaurant. The staff do have to multi-task serving there then the bar & sometimes on the desk but always always with a smile. In fact the staff are brilliant and really looked after us well. So well we have booked again for this September!!

We stayed for a weekend on 8th July 2016 had a very enjoyable stay the room was spotless and very quiet the staff were very friendly the hotel was in an excellent sea front position and parking can be arranged with the hotel very cheaply

Spent two nights at this hotel in room 44. On arriving room was very clean but there was a very pervasive and invasive smell coming from the bathroom. We mentioned it to the reception who sent someone straight up, but on chatting to other staff members it seems that there is an issue on the 3rd floor rooms 35 - 44.

It doesn't appear to be the drains, but something is definitely not right and the staff appear to be very aware of the issue. We wondered if the building work going on next door had loosened something. Something to remember if you are staying here.

We were offered and accepted a bottle of wine for our inconvenience, but we also had to keep the bedroom windows open all night just to make the smell a little less rank. The view was excellent and the staff friendly if a little overworked. We had a couple of instances of having to go behind the reception desk to collect our own keys when calling to find someone when reception wasnt manned.

we had a really great dinner and very much enjoyed cooking our own steak, Wine very well priced and good chips. Could be a bit more generous with the bread but all in all great value and excellent food.
Your new Polish waitress is charming and the service puts a near by 5 star l to shame.

This family run hotel is good value for money. the staff are friendly and helpful.
the food is above average and the wine very reasonably priced. it is easy to park, is on the seafront with nice views over the sea from the restaurant. Bedrooms adequate and clean with basic furniture and decent en suite shower room and lift. good breakfast with plenty of choices. would visit again.

Staff were lovely, I had asked for an accessible room as my partner is disabled and uses a wheel chair, as finds it very painful to do stairs, the first thing we encountered was, all entrances had steps, not a good start, to get to our room we had to go through a door, down a step and up a step, and a far enough walk for someone in pain, we asked if there was a better room, but were told it was all full, this was Friday night, the facilities were impossible, the toilet was squashed into a very small space that made it impossible for a disabled body to close the door, the shower was unusable also as it was crammed in the corner and the sink wad in front of it, so even I as an able bodied person found it a task to get in and out of the shower, the bed was creaky when you turned over, and the Windows did not keep out any noise, there was a catch missing on one side so it could only be done up one side, what a pain to be woken up by the staff talking in the yard below very early, and then the builders began, our view was a very untidy yard, the staff we really polite,but spare, you had to ring reception from the bar if you wanted to be served, we were told on check on if we would have asked them sat, they would have swapped out rooms, and yet we were told Friday they were full, I would not stay here again, it was £70+ per night, NOT worth the money for ROOM ONLY, they need to re access their facilities, and have more staff to cover the bar etc, breakfast was extra and not cheap, our friends stayed at The Cavendish paid less, got a suite and had breakfast included, they booked through the same on line site as us, and to top it all no in room WI FI, can't see how they can charge the prices they do,

Stayed at West Rocks with family members for three days. Hotel is in a good position to get to shops, restaurants, bar and the beach etc. Staff was friendly and very willing to help if needed. There was a lift but I was not keen on it especially taking two suitcases and two people being in it – quite small and awkward. Room was clean and the bed was the best we have slept in. The shower needs changing or fixed as it pointed downwards and not towards you. Even though it says on their website that the hotel has been refurbished, we felt that it could do with a refresh on the paintwork especially the bathroom. The single rooms were quite small and basic.
The bar and the restaurant room were nice but the room next to the veranda was old fashioned and could do with being more modern.
Some of us went for afternoon tea and I was expecting a variety of sandwiches and savouries as well as cakes but only got to choose a filling for your sandwiches, a scone with jam and cream which was heaven and of course a choice of tea and coffee.
We had breakfast on our last day and it was alright but not very fresh. Some did not like the sausages they had. There was a good selection of breakfast items. They serve cocktails of which I had two which were very nice but quite expensive (London prices).
We all had a lovely stay at West Rocks but does need to sort out the things I have mentioned above to make it better

We stayed at West Rocks hotel with my parents as we were visiting the bandstand to watch a tribute show.
The hotel was in a great location on the seafront across the road from the bandstand
We usually stay at the view hotel but it was fully booked.
This hotel wasn't quite as good, it lacked simple things like complimentary water in the room, decaffeinated coffee and biscuits.
The room was a good size tho and the bed very comfortable. We had a lovely sea view too.
Breakfast was very good also....... Varied choice of cooked or cereal and toast. Plastic table cloth and chipped mug a bit off putting tho :/
In general this hotel was ok for what we paid and in an excellent location, maybe with a bit of updating and a good clean it would improve even more.
I would possibly return but it wouldn't be my first choice.

As a convenient, one night stay, this ticked the boxes. We were on the 3rd floor so, although no sea view, at least above rooftops. Twin beds very comfy and en-suite shower/wash room clean. We did not have breakfast but bar in evening had friendly staff. Ask at reception for parking permit (£1) as this very useful. Sea front position and very near theatres.

We have visited Eastbourne many times over 20 years and have stayed in various hotels, b&b's etc. I think we have found a little gem here. The hotel is being modernised and is bright and welcoming inside. The exterior needs work . Rooms are a bit difficult to find at first, dotted about everywhere but are comfortable and very clean. Large TV's with good range of channels. Water pressure in some of the rooms is not too good but this will improve in the Autumn I heard. Great position on the front and 10 mins walk to town centre. The breakfast is good and the restaurant has lovely well cooked food at a reasonable price for its quality. The portions are on the small side though. Fair priced wines. We had a couple of questions which were sorted out at once. The management team and their staff were excellent and hardworking and we wish them every success. We will definitely return .

I first visited West Rocks last year and was quite disappointed with the experience as I thought it had the potential to be a very good hotel but there were a few things which let it down. However, because there were some things I really liked I decided to give it another go this year to see if it had improved and I am pleased to say it most certainly has.

As was the case last year the hotel is still being renovated, and the first thing I noticed was that the reception appears to have been repainted and looks a lot more welcoming. I was also pleased that the reception staff were much friendlier this time, and I was greeted by the lovely Ali who I want to take home and adopt ( he features a lot in this review).

I was staying in room number 17, one of the 'deluxe' rooms which is one of the larger rooms overlooking the beach. I booked one of these rooms last time because of the size and seaview - you can open the windows and see the beach and pier, lovely. As of last time the room was very clean, housekeeping do a very good job.

I decided to eat in the restaurant and Ali popped up again to serve me, very friendly and chatty, but not overbaring. The food was lovely ( I had the fish and chips) - good restaurant quality food - I would definitely eat there again. I then went to the bar and was served by Ali again. Trust me, they do have more than one member of staff! After a few drinks and chatting to Ali I headed to bed. One of the things that I was impressed with last time was the comfortable bed, and again, I found the bed to be very comfortable.

The next day I was at the bar again ( I don't have a drink problem, honest) and there was a corporate event going on. Ali was behind the bar again and I also got a chance to speak to one of the owners ( Chris, I believe) who was lovely and interested to know what I thought of West Rocks.

On my last day I got speaking to the second owner, Steve, who I was amazed to discover was one of my all time favourite DJs from my clubbing days! We had a nice long chat which just endeared me to the West Rock Hotel even more. I've already booked another visit later this year and highly recommend you give this place a try if you are staying in Eastbourne. It's clean, the staff are friendly, the restaurant food is good and the beds are comfortable, what more could you ask for? Sadly, Ali is leaving though. I'm mourning him already.

- Prices in restaurant a bit expensive. Only accompaniment to my steak was a small salad, chips etc cost extra.
- dated in parts.
- Doors need some oil, very squeaky, not good when people are in and out all night.

We stayed in room 9 which was a double with a sea view; as a much larger room had been split, the sea view towards the 'Wish Tower' was from the side window of the bay window on the first floor. It also had a side window directly facing the View Hotel, the room was a decent size with a comfortable and clean bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a large TV, good lighting and thick curtains, large wardrobe, OK not powerful shower with toilet but no sink in bathroom this was in the bedroom instead. Everything was clean and well presented. My daughter stayed in room 16, a single room with a sea view at the front, narrow but with space for a desk and TV, a built in wardrobe, a shower room with toilet and small sink, all very clean and well presented. There was wifi which was free but did not seem to work in the hotel rooms very weak.The breakfast was £8 if you booked it on arrival, breakfast buffet was brilliant, fried eggs, bacon, black pudding, sausages, also toast, fruit, yoghurt, cereal juice, tea coffee, very helpful staff, very clean and welcoming. We also ate in the Channel restaurant, approx £100 for three courses and a bottle of Prosecco, would highly recommend this too, very good quality, great food and helpful staff. All public areas of the hotel were great too and the location between The Wish Tower and Pier was very central and the parking was only £1 per day (tickets purchased from hotel) parking very near the hotel at side or on sea front. Would highly recommend for a short break!

Just returned from this lovely little hotel after a weeks holiday. Rooms have recently been refurbished and done to a really nice standard. Food is great and the yummy breakfast is well worth waiting.

Firstly I will say that the main part of the hotel is really lovely and the restaurant even better. My wife was attending a conference at Eastbourne Winter gardens over Whitsun bank holiday and I went along as a visitor.

We got to the West rocks hotel about 4 o'clock in the afternoon, after a detour to the miniature railway, and was greeted warmly, sorted out parking tickets, and headed to our room. We stayed in No. 4 which on the ground floor at the back and the view wasn't very good, could see a yard full of workmen's vehicle's and the the backs of other hotels, so a big downer. Looking around the room I found that the windows were only single glazed with rotten frames, there was no central heating, only a electric oil filled heater. The room was quite small. The shower room, there was no bath, was so small you had to squeeze around the door to get to the toilet. Once seated I found that the toilet roll was behind my right ear, well awkward. When having a shower the door doesn't come open very far because the hand basin's in the way, in the shower there's no wear to put your soap. All in all a terrible shower room.

On the Saturday evening, our first evening, we ate in the Channel restaurant at the West rocks hotel and it was very good, I had a whole grilled Sea bass with a bottle of wine. Breakfasts were all served in the cellar diner and also very good.

On the whole this place is well clean and tidy and the staff very good and helpful in deed, shame about our room.

Would I stay here again, probably not I"ve seen better.

Great staff, very accommodating, also great restaurant and excellent breakfast buffet. They were always willing to help and provided us with a cot bed for our daughter and the facility to store her milk. I can't give it less than 5 stars because of the service we received. The only thing that proved a little tricky is the size of the lift, but that's a minor detail really.

We stayed there for 1 night. It was good however in our daughter's bedroom the wall were a bit damaged due to water leaking or something like that.

We didn't complaint as we were only here for 1 night, however we would if we would stay more than a night.
Breakfast was good and team was good too.

It was nice to wake up and see the sea by the Windows.

Short holiday with elderly mother. There's a small lift for anyone that needed it, the rooms were spacious, cleaned daily. Food was good. Staff were very friendly and truly helpful. Easy access to town centre or walking the prom.

We stayed at the West Rocks Hotel as part of a block booking for a wedding in Eastbourne. We had the 'family room' and though it served it's purpose I felt that £99 per night was not justifiable. We were on the 4th floor with two small children. The hotel, although run by wonderful staff, is NOT child-friendly and we chose to eat dinner elsewhere as the choices on the dinner menu were not for us. But the views were wonderful and just a stroll along the front were the pier and a great range of shops. So I would recommend West Rocks if you are looking for a grown-up getaway but if you have children under 12 it's not an option really.

We arrived in Eastbourne is pouring rain after a long day of travelling around Kent & Sussex. On check in we were given a ground floor room which had a nice outlook but obviously had not been cleaned properly and the neighbouring room had a dog that barked each time you walked past the door! Anyway for the first time ever we went back to a hotel reception and asked for another room. The reception staff were excellent and immediately moved us to a room on the 4th floor which was clean and neatly presented. Room and Bathroom a little small but as we were only staying 1 night this was ok. When we booked this hotel direct we were offfered a free breakfast which was nice and well presented. After chatting to the chap on reception is sounds like the hotel is being revamped. We paid a small fee to park the car in the public parking area across the road. Managed a walk along the esplanade before heading off - Eastbourne lived up to it's sunniest place in UK claim the following morning.
