This hotel made no particular impression on me as nothing special about it although, to be fair, nothing bad either.
Reception staff friendly, room clean, comfortable bed but old fashioned dressing table seemed inappropriate. Unclear what kind of ambience they are aiming for... Value for money, but I would not stay there again.

Booked the hotel for my wife's 50th birthday party. Absolutely perfect, a great venue, with the attitude that nothing is too much trouble. Amazing staff, amazing food and lovely clean and bright rooms. All of the guests were very complimentary about the hotel even those who were just there for the party and weren't staying. Couldn't have asked for a better evening, a big thank you to Ian, Dani and all of your team for making our stay so enjoyable. Andy and Chris Cooper.

We stayed at West Rocks Hotel with GB Tours for a Turkey and Tinsel 5 day break. The hotel is on the seafront and is quite inviting from outside. We were welcomed and given the keys to our room where shortly afterwards our case was brought. The room looked cosy and was on the front of the hotel with a lovely sea view. The usual facilities of tea/coffee making tray which was adequately stocked and a small flat screen tv. The room was clean as was the bathroom which had an over-bath shower; clean towels were left rolled on the bed. The evening meal was 3 course with the starter and desert order being taken as we sat at the table; the starter being served quite quickly afterwards. The main course was buffet-style with the choice of 3 meat courses being served leaving you to take as much potato and vegetables as you needed which we found suited us as I like plenty of both. The food was excellent, well cooked and appetizing and always hot and the meal was finished off with tea or coffee. We found the price of drinks was quite expensive at £8.25 for a small glass of wine and a pint of Guinness so we didn't go overboard but prices at hotels are not known for their cheapness. The bed was clean and very comfortable so we soon dropped off. There was a drawback to having the room on the front of the hotel though and that was the traffic noise due to the old sash windows offering next to no sound insulation. At around 6 a.m. the commuter traffic started which woke us up but this is the problem with 99% of seafront hotels so not much can be done there except get used to the early start. A room at the back would have been preferable for me. There was plenty of hot water from the easy to use shower and shower/bath gels supplied. The breakfast served from 8 - 9.30 was the usual selection of cereals/toast etc. but as we eat porridge we enquired if that was available which it was and then brought quickly to us nicely made. The main buffet-style breakfast had a very good selection of bacon, sausage, black pudding, hash browns, baked beans, mushrooms and egg (fried but various other forms were available). All was appetizing and cooked well. Again, you were free to have as much as you liked (within reason) which suited me. All the staff were very polite and friendly throughout our stay. We had only one real gripe and that was that on two days when we returned to our room the tea and coffee tray hadn't been restocked necessitating a visit to reception for emergency supplies. A small niggle but one you didn't really need after a day out. As this was a T & T break some guests felt it was a bit hit and miss as some of the things mentioned in the holiday details didn't appear until someone chased it up with the staff. It didn't bother us as, after all, it wasn't really Christmas! All in all, though, we were very happy with the hotel, quality of the food and room. As I already mentioned, the staff were friendly,approachable and nothing seemed too much trouble. The owners have apparently only been there for 2 -3 years and if they continue to offer the same high standard with just a small nudge where the room restocking is concerned, then we will return without hesitation.

The Hotel is in a great location. Right on the sea front and close to Theaters and Eastbourne Town itself. My wife and I were part of a 38 strong coach tour with a Tinsel and Turkey theme.
Our twin room was on the fourth floor accessible from the one small old fashioned lift or up the stairs. We chose the stairs and, as we climbed, our first impression was of a recently white over painted wallpaper and recently undercoated ceiling and stair banisters. All looked a bit dated and cheaply tarted up. Our room was reasonably sized with a small on suite that was clearly an add-on to what was the original room. The en suite was small with no shelving for our bits and pieces. The door was a wooden sliding door with no lock / bolt. Shower was fine but the curtain too short so water came out onto the floor. Hot water did take a while to come through.
Our room had no drawers in the large 'wobbly doored' wardrobes nor indeed shelving suitable for socks, underwear etc which we left in the suitcase. The TV was a large flat screen with many channels. There was also tea and coffee (no biscuits). Hairdryers available on request. Our only request was for a few extra coat-hangers (initially six) which were provided immediately. The beds were soft but both of us slept well. This Hotel does not charge top end prices and you can see it has age problems.
Food - Breakfast was down in the basement and was 'help yourself', it was fine. A bit sameish but you could ask for alternatives like poached eggs etc. The evening meal was also OK but the choice could have been thought through better. To justify this comment I offer the following examples. Day one - no white meat or vegetarian option indicated, Day three - Fish, chips no peas, Day Four, veg consisting of peas and green beans. Evening meals were always carvery type with pre-prepared meats.
Tinsel and Turkey - I will sum this up in one request to the Management. Get a member of staff to lead from the moment your coach arrives. A sherry reception was advertised (did not take place) which would have been an opportunity to brief the four days and enthuse us all. A few baubles in the ceiling and staff wearing Christmas hats does not make it a theme, nor does it keep us punters buying in the bar. We would all have come down to the entertainment had it been clear what was being provided and when. 'New Years Eve' finished at 9.45pm - who knew!
Overall - minor tweaks could have so changed this review but I was left with more niggles than positives. The staff were all pleasant but I am not sure they understand what a group of 38 - 60+'s need for a T & T knees up. So next coach that comes in appoint one of your staff to be the entertainment's manager and stick some tinsel up in the basement breakfast / dining / entertainment area.

Myself and my husband had a Sunday night stay here, we were in Eastbourne for a concert at the Winter Gardens. Firstly, it was literally a 1 minute walk to the venue which was a result. We had a first floor room at the side of the hotel which was an impressive size and very clean and comfortable. For us parking was easy, we got right outside the entrance and you can just pay £1 to the hotel for a parking pass. Being November, I assume the hotel was not at all busy as we only saw 4 people at the most! Cooked full english breakfast was included in our room price (I thought was very reasonable in itself!) and it was made to order and no complaints whatsoever. It's not a modern hotel so it has character as an old building, the restaurant and bar looked nice and welcoming, although it was closed the menu looked very appealing.

We booked a room overlooking the sea and it couldn't have been more perfect. The staff couldn't do enough for us especially Emily at dinner. Great staff, great service! Loved the new wine bar!

It's definitely one of the best place if not the best one if you are looking for a perfect meal! I get totally obsessed with Red Mullet & Steak on a stone! Highly recommended and for sure will visit them again!

Stayed here for the weekend and was really pleased. We had a sea facing room which was large and airy as was the bathroom. The room was really clean and we had a double and single bed with lovely bed linen and comfortable beds. Although the hotel is old it is being renovated and updated by the owners and I loved the old sash windows and the quaintness of the building. We also ate there once on Friday night and again on Sunday lunchtime and the food was amazing and of an excellent quality. The sizzling steaks looked amazing although I had fish which was lovely too. Breakfast was good too and the staff were all very attentive and sorted out requests straight away. We will definitely use this again especially as they have dog friendly rooms.

I stayed here for a pilates, walking holiday and was nicely surprised. My room was spacious and had a wonderful sea view. The bathroom is dated but I understand this is being refurbished soon. Eastbourne is not somewhere I would have thought to have visited but was very pleasantly surprised. Fabulous base to walk the 7 sisters or other equally lovely walks. The hotel is a working progress as the new owners are working their way through the building. The lovely dining room, bar and sitting area over looking the sea (perfect for a cuppa or G & T) after a long walk make up for a few small decor issues. The food we had for our evening meal was very good indeed, beautifully presented and very tasty. Despite being a large party we found the service very good too. All in all for the reasonable rate charged we were very pleased indeed, oh and the locations was excellent.

Stayed in this hotel for the weekend In a double room with sea view. The room was adequate although only a shower and the basin was in the room not the on suite. The bed was very comfortable and spacious. There was tea and coffee making facilities and plenty of plugs. The decor is a bit poor in places but for the price was acceptable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We have stayed here before and would stay again. Good food in the chanel restaurant. Breakfast was buffet style and was one of the best one's we had had.

I stayed at the West Rocks Hotel this weekend with a group of people on a well-being weekend away. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable and we dined in the restaurant twice eating totally delicious food! It's centrally located right on the main parade with easy access to the Seven Sisters where we were walking. I highly recommend this hotel for a short stay and found it delivered excellent value for money. #Best-steaks!!

Very pleased with my stay, room was big with great seaview. Loo and shower were spotless. The hotel still retains much of the atmosphere of its grand origins but is in no way stuffy. The ownership seem very personable and I hope to visit again

Just returned from a weekend break at this hotel. Was really impressed! Was impressed with the family suite which was perfect just what we wanted and really comfortable. The staff were really helpful chatty and helpful and nothing seemed to much hassle. Breakfast was really nice too! The only thing that let us down was the wheather !!!!

A gang of us stayed with age ranging from 15 to 76. Little bit old fashion in rooms but clean and tidy.Lovely restaurant down stairs and great little bar.Staff very helpful and pleasant.Great breakfast.Not sure how to half on rating or it would be Four and half.

We had a cousins get together here and could not have asked for better service and attention to our needs, the staff were always making sure that things are okay. We had 23 of us sitting down to Sunday lunch. The food was very good and again the service was extra special.

Having just returned from a group weekend break at the West Rocks Hotel, i have to say it is one of the best we have stayed in. The staff are very friendly and always on hand to help, and all are very hard working. The food was excellent, breakfast was buffet style and more than enough choice to satisfy anyone. The 3 course dinner was waiter service for starters and desserts and buffet for the main course, all with plenty of options.
Good drinks selection at the bar, and entertainment laid on for all 3 nights and was a good standard.
The rooms are very clean, and our room (17) was very large with a sea view.
Hotel location is very good, just a few minutes walk to the town centre, pier, and the Eastbourne Bandstand and theatres are also within a few minutes walk.

I can only thank all the staff at the hotel for making it a great break.
We will be returning to the West Rocks in the future.

I've heard lots of great reviews of this hotel West Rocks, with the new owners and how they have made this hotel and restaurant a perfects venue for all types of occasions.
I went for dinner and drinks there last weekend.
The food was fabulous. I couldn't fault the service, style, friendliness of the staff and the quality of food.
We had a lovely selection of starters followed by steak on the stone.
The steak melted I my mouth and the wine selections were top quality.
Well done to the new owners for making this a special place to come for a thoroughly enjoyable evening, Eastbourne needed something like this.
I will certainly be back with friends and family. 100% impressed.

Fantastic.My daughter is vegan and they went out and got soya milk. Friendily staff and had a lovely feel. Well done to all envolved. Comfy beds too. Lovely feel to this hotel and right on seafront.Would recommend

I have been asked to do a honest review about hotel & restaurant. The stay was lovely! Romantic dinner was great, and then we enjoyed peaceful night. Prices are low, so it won't damage your budget.

Now off to enjoy the rest of the lovely day! It was a pleasure!

I was looking for a spot of lunch with my husband when visiting the Eastbourne Airshow recently. We decided to try the West Rocks Hotel on the seafront. The staff were smiley and welcoming. We were shown to an elegant restaurant which also had an incredible view of the sea and airshow! We were pleasantly surprised by the imaginative menu and chose scallops and halloumi salad starters followed by Fish and chips ( we were by the seaside after all!) and prawn linguine. They arrived promptly and were attractively presented and were ABSOLUTELY delicious. We were pleasantly surprised by the high standard and value price. For , great food, great prices and great views, it would take some beating and we will definitely be re-visiting the next time we are in Eastbourne.

Have just arrived home after a lovely night stay at West Rocks. I booked on a booking site and recived confirmation form the hotel.

The room was clean and comfortable, with a great view of the pier (worth the extra £10) for one night's stay there was a little too much storage furniture.

We didn't eat in the restaurant as had a evening meal planned and knew we wouldn't be up in time for breakfast.

I know the area so knew all parking was metered or permits. Would have been helpful to know that we could have brought a permit from the hotel for £1 instead of parking further away an walking in the rain; but this didn't detract from our stay.

We did not stay at the hotel but used their restaurant which was excellent. The food was very good, great choice on menu, especially their steak on the stone. The service was excellent, staff lovely and helpful. They do a great Sunday roast lunch and dinner. We will definitely be going back in January when we will be staying in Eastbourne.

My partner and I came to Eastbourne to celebrate our 10yr Anniversary, I wanted a little surprise, and to make it romantic, the staff could not help enough, they arranged roses on the pillows, heart confetti on the bed and a bottle of fizz on ice. All this arranged from a few emails. Our room was immaculate, beautiful crisp clean bed linen, soft fluffy towels, and it was absolutely spotless, with breath taking views. We enjoyed a slap up supper in the restaurant , may I recommend the Coq au Vin, with a good bottle of red, and a delicious well presented brekkie the next day. Already planning our return. Thank you everyone for making it a weekend to remember.

I stayed in this hotel over the august bank holiday. The hotel staff were very friendly, my room was very nice and very clean. My bed was the most comfortable bed i think i have ever slept in. Lovely view from my room. Great location.
