Having read some recent reviews I can see their point about the food (buffet), however we learnt from the first night and went to meals earlier and found the standard to be much better. I agree that the meal (and beer) choices were limited and we had the same dessert on 3 nights, but the food was tasty. Our room was clean with a small bathroom, staff were pleasant and helpful. The bar closes at 11pm! why???
The present owners have only been in a short time and I wish them well with the hotel, and would like to return in the future.

It's our fourth stay & again was fantastic. Our room was spotless, with a brilliant sea view & my partner mentioned our anniversary so on our arrival there were love hearts, roses & prosecco on the bed to welcome us.
The staff couldn't do enough, very attentive but not in your face & remembered us.
We ate in Channel Restaurant, one of the best steaks I've had with a hot stone fillet, my partner had Coq Au Vin for someone that never normally finishes food she polished the plate clean. Fantastic food!
There was a Steam Punk festival on for the whole weekend & we managed to see a night at the Proms with fireworks.
We can't wait to return, thank you to all the staff at West Rocks X

As in title not bad. would Have rated GOOD but better than average. Believe this is now privately owned and in a short space of time are doing a great job as this is a listed building! Good luck with it all to the staff and owners will use again. Only thing sink and splash back ect could have had a better clean maybe housekeeping could be checked once in a while

It's a recently refurbished establishment with nice sea view rooms and excellent service from the staff.
My only gripe is that the tea bags are poor and you cannot make a decent cup of tea.
Car parking can be an issue but, u can get a £1 permit from the hotel.

We booked in for a couple of days and if you book direct with the hotel you get a free breakfast.
The sea view rooms are spacious and airy.
Some tea bags that tasted of tea would be nice !! But, we are fussy with our tea.
The hotel service is spot on, the buffet breakfast tasty and the car park permits are essential. Car parking is an issue.
The beach is clean and while not the most exciting place on earth we enjoyed our stay in Eastbourne

The Hotel itself is cozy and nice, staff are very friendly and helpful and always cheery! The rooms could do with an upgrade to be truthful, but all in all it was a good place for a weekend getaway. They also offer the option to purchase breakfast upon checking in at reception.

We had a really lovely stay...quick and easy check in, very welcoming staff! Our room was one with a sea view, large with a comfortable bed! Windows could be opened so we could listen to the waves! Absolutely fantastic young lady (Julia) serving us for lunch in the restaurant and the other day at the bar! Very smart, attentive and always with a smile! All in all we were pretty surprised of the entire hotel and its standard. We definitely will be back! Thank you so much team West Rocks!

A treasure of a find!
We thought we would book a table in the Chanel resturant to celebrate a friends birthday. The staff were friendly and helpful from the minute we walked through the door. On the menu there was plenty of choice for everyone. The food was fresh, local , tasty and arrived to the table hot. We were booked in at a later time and at no point did we feel rushed by the staff especially when it came to deciding which pudding to have! There was a lovely atmosphere and we will be certainly returning to try the afternoon tea...which looked very tempting!

A very friendly hotel with good food , it was lovely to see the sea from our room. Some rooms could do with updating but it is still a very good place to stay.

We live in Eastbourne and have just discovered this gem!! We had lunch Which was lovely and great value for money we then enjoyed a few drinks again very reasonably priced. The staff were all very accommodating and friendly would highly recommend it......we will be returning!!

Took the kids for a treat booked direct on website that way breakfast is included in the price. Had a suite very nice clean and tidy. Service was very friendly and helpful, breakfast was lovely sausages were excellent as was everything else. Definitely recommended.

Lovely staff and good breakfast and a very comfy bed, there is some issues but i dont sleep in the bathroom. Well worth a vist. Drinks good price and the sea is calming, staff helpful and lift is very quaint

Really well positioned hotel opposite the beach. We had a sea view which was lovely. Room large and clean and nice toiletries. WiFi not good in rooms and we were on the first floor, but it was not a big issue for us. Lovely breakfast that was free as we booked direct with the hotel. I don't usually eat a cooked breakfast preferring continental but it looked so good I had to try it and was really pleased. The chef makes his own yogurt and that was really good. If you want to eat in the restaurant at night you need to book early as it is small and gets booked up quickly. They did offer to put us in the bar, but the ambiance was lacking and the prices the same as the restaurant as they do not do a separate bar menu.

Right from checking in we were welcomed and everything was explained to us. We visited during the Eastbourne Air Show and parking was difficult in town (especially as one of our group was arriving later with the car) - the chap on reception advised us and we found parking very easily despite the Air Show restrictions closing many parking spaces
The hotel is ideally situated for all amenities especially the theatres, band stand and promenade - the town centre is only 5/6 minutes walk
Unfortunately on the day we were leaving I had a fall in the street and was taken to hospital. A passer by (one who had picked me up and arranged medical attention) called at the hotel to let them know what had happened. The hotel reception immediately contacted my partner and spent time in trying to locate where I was - even to the extent of offering to drive him to the hospital if necessary to save moving our car (we would not have been able to re-park if moved due to air show restrictions). The hotel reassured my partner that there would be no problem in checking out late due to my fall and helped in whatever way they could
On returning from the hospital the co-owner met us and was incredibly kind and friendly
The room was clean, bed comfortable with free (and useable Wifi) - furniture was in good condition - public rooms were up to date and, although we didn't use it, the restaurant looked very enticing
The only negative - and it wasn't really a problem was the water pressure in the shower was rather low - but I suppose that's because we were on the fourth floor!!!
A very acceptable stay - recommended and THANK YOU for the care and attention you gave us all when we needed it most!!!

Booked 2 double rooms for us and some friends for a night in Eastbourne. When we checked in the receptionist was very friendly. We went to our rooms. We had a lovely room of a brick wall.Ours was clean but very small only just enough room to walk round the double bed. When we checked out the bathroom we couldn't believe how tiny it was. It was about 4 foot square altogether and there was a toilet wash basin and shower squashed into that space. Luckily neither my husband or myself are very fat. It was awkward when u dropped anything in the shower you had to go out of the shower and then pick it up as there was no room to manoeuvred. But bed was comfortable and breakfast in morning was excellent and staff very friendly and welcoming. Our friends bathroom was a little larger than ours but their bedroom was a bit smaller. I would recommend this hotel as apart from room size we had no complaints and staff were excellent too.

We stayed here for 2 nights for my birthday, having previously visited in 2002. I'd read online that the hotel had a change of management and had undergone a programme of refurbishment. We chose a similar room to the previous visit (for about the same price!). We were pleasantly surprised with the changes to the bar and dining areas and the breakfast room was nice (couldn't remember if we ate breakfast there the last time - this time is was delicious - and thrown in as we booked direct with the hotel). Our room had a new bathroom and was spacious with a beautiful seaview. However, there was room for further improvements in the bedroom: the door was very ill-fitting, wardrobe smelly and outdated, curtains badly fitted and letting in far too much light. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The staff and manager were very pleasant and helpful at all times. Choose a sea view room for lovely views of the coast and pier. The hotel can provide a parking voucher for £1 per day to park directly opposite the hotel.

Stayed here for 2 nights and found it to be excellent value for money. The bar lounge and dining rooms are clean and fresh . I stayed in a basic twin room with shower it was comfortable and clean and the breakfast was delicious and plentiful .will stay here again 👍👍👍

The room, whilst basic was clean; although the desk had lots of marks & the bathroom door wasn't painted properly. We found it quiet & as we were on the ground floor didn't have any problems with water pressure - although it is a teeny bathroom.
The room didn't have net curtains/window film or blinds meaning you had to close the heavy curtains to change or anything; this left the room quite dark.
The television signal was extremely poor.
The hospitality tray only had one choice of tea & only white sugar.
We enjoyed cereal, ripe tasty fruit, yoghurt & croissants and juice. There was also toast, sausage, bacon, beans, black pudding, hash browns, mushrooms and fried eggs which were in small containers meaning they could be changed regularly to stay fresh. My request for soya milk was met. The only thing I would say is that not all the teaspoons fit into the yoghurt jars!
Would we stay again? Without hesitation :-)

We had been staying at the shore view previous and at £117 per night you would expect it to be amazing - it wasn't- rude staff- dirty room - painting outside our room- NOT WORTH THE MONEY.
Anyway we booked here for our last night at £59 and it was GREAT!
The staff are so friendly and helpful i could not fault them in the slightest, it's so nice to have friendly staff that go out of there way to help you.
The room (7) was not the biggest room but it was very clean fresh and modern the bathroom was a bit on the small side but again was clean, plenty of hot water and the little soaps are a nice extra touch.
We had a problem trying to fit the travel cot in, but as soon as I mentioned it at reception a nice man came up and helped immediately he rearranged the bed and make extra room.
The hotel really does make you feel welcome and at home. It's a hotel where they make it feel personal not just a major hotel out to make as much money as they can.
I would definitely recommend staying here !

I booked as it said it had been recently refurbished; I could see they had done work but, despite paying for a room with a sea view, it was rather sad and tired. I had 3 bay windows - 2 were painted shut and the 3rd opened but could not be locked (with next door room across a bit of flat roof); the heated towel rail and bathroom mirror lights didn't work; a lamp switch was audibly shorting; the carpet did not meet the bathroom threshold and was frayed; the sound-proofing of a stud wall was poor (I could hear the adding loo, TV and speech, including at 6am); the lift needed 2 hands to keep the doors open (not good with a bag) and the furniture was very tired/scratched. the bed was OK; the internet in the room was flaky. The staff were helpful and friendly - I would not stay there again (although I can't compare it with other hotels nearby as I have no knowledge of them).

This hotel is 3 Victorian houses knocked into one so its a bit quirky with 2 staircases and an old fashioned lift. There's no air con so the breakfast rooms and bedrooms can get hot but its clean and the front of house staff are young and genuinely friendly and welcoming, You can hear the sea from the sea view rooms and I went to sleep and woke up to the sound of the waves. The breakfast was pretty standard - fresh fruit and cooked. If you book direct with the hotel the breakfast is included.
A couple of niggles - wifi didn't work and a faint whiff of urine from time to time from the ensuite but would definitely go back.

Ideally located to explore the beautiful area of East Sussex.We enjoyed walking along the 3 tiered seafront in the evenings, feeling safe even with our 20 month old.The seven sisters cliffs are a must and you are less than an hour from Brighton and Hastings.There are all manner of restaurant a short walk in any direction from the hotel. The hotel was clean and friendly.The sea views are amazing and there is a victorian lift if you're on the higher floors.The one thing I would change is that the bathroom could do with modernising and a better shower put in.

Stayed here dor 2 nights, had a family room with a partial sea view, the room was compact and bijou and had amazingly squeezed a bathroom in. It was comfortable and we all slept very well. We booked through booking.com so had to pay extra for breakfast, which I think is worth it. We ate in the restaurant on the first night, food was lovely, highly recommended. Staff here were very pleasant we were greeted warmly by all members of staff.
Only negatives.. Water took ages to get warm and pressure in the shower was very low. Room was very warm, slept with window open but had to wedge it as it was banging in the wind.
All in all a great stay in a nice location.

which was lovely..Room on 4th floor lift rather old world and two people max, good job I didn't take the wheelchair in . Disabled entrance not marked at all, and is next to the dustbins. Breakfast was help yourself and very. filling. Would stay again.

Basic hotel no frills but comfortable and clean, good prices. The hotel is let down by the bar closing early at about 10:00pm (sometimes before) the shutters go down, lights and background music switched off despite customers still sitting in their drinking and perhaps wanting another drink. The lights in all the communal rooms, lounge etc and reception are switched off at 11:00pm so all in darkness from that time and no staff to be seen. We booked for 5 nights. The staff were very friendly and the hotel offered a good selection for the buffet style breakfast. The lift is tiny.
