Stayed for long weekend, had 2 rooms, one ground floor for 88 year old father in law which would be better with just a shower for older people and one on 3 rd floor with lovely sea views! Need updating and shower very weak but does the job! Lovely comfy king size bed and spotless bedding. The staff are excellent,though young, nothing too much trouble and very friendly.It's in a great location, 5 minutes from the pier and a selection of restaurants. Decorate the rooms and it would be great.

This was our second stay. You can pay twice the price elsewhere and NOT have seagull mess on the windows but the location is unsurpassed and the bed was very comfortable. Clean bathroom. Note that the hotel overlooks the promenade which means great views of the sea but there is some traffic noise (which didn't keep us awake)
Self service breakfast was included (nice food and varied) and the staff were friendly.
Would definitely book again.

The 1st room we were given was filthy, with dust cobwebs and brown stained tiles in the bathroom, also 2 handles missing on chest of drawers. After my friend complained we were given room 46 on the 4th floor. This was a million times better although it still had rotten window frames and paint debris in the bathroom. Wonderful sea views though..My friend dropped some things off her bed so I looked underneath the beds to see if it was there.......and I found something more than I expected. I've had complimentary gifts in my time but as an elderly lady I didn't expect this. Of course I reported and took it to reception , but I had the impression ...oh it's them again.
Now to be positive. The staff on the whole were great, with nothing too much trouble. The reception rooms were lovely and the food was very acceptable , in fact I enjoyed all my meals.
I do not normally write negative reviews, but people should know just what you get at this seafront hotel.

This is a hotel I stayed in a few years ago whilst working in Eastbourne.
The hotel had just been taken over buy two lovely gentleman.
As you can imagine the hotel was being upgraded so there was lots going on.

My daughter and son had 35 very nice clean and lots if room
14 double room well it was very small
Bathroom tiny clean.
TV was so small .
Remote control for TV .wasn't one.
One main light in bedroom NO bulb .
Had to change it myself. Bulb gone above sink.
Main hotel was nice
staff polite.
Service was good.
But staff should not be drinking bottles of water in front of customer in bar area.
Does not look good especially spilling over the floor and there shirts.

My sister and I both thoroughly enjoyed our week-end in Eastbourne, and it was made better by our stay in the lovely White Rocks hotel. It was very very good value for money, so clean, welcoming and comfortable. We arrived to plenty of parking space, right on the beach front and beside the hotel. The friendly hotel staff provided a parking permit for £1 which was for all day, taking us in to free parking on Sunday. Our room was excellent value for money, the bedding being crisp and clean, as was the room. Our breakfast was plentiful, being a buffet breakfast, including cereal, fruit, toast, croissants and full English breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel and would like to think I will be back for another stay.

West Rocks is in a good location right on the sea front and quite close to the Eastbourne bandstand which hosts a number of different acts. We've stayed here before and had quite a good room so our expectations were fairly high. We booked online so that we could get the hotel breakfast as booking through other websites you don't get that option it seems. Checking in was easy and the public rooms are well decorated and there is a small bar with a small range of wine and beer. Upon check-in we purchased a parking ticket for a pound which lasts until 11am the next day. Entering our room we were a bit disappointed. It was average size with a small tv and a king bed (I think). The room was painted white which is fine if it is done well and cared for. The furniture was old 1980's style but useable there was also a newish carpet but really the room needed some care. The ensuite was small with a shower but unfortunately when using it the water only came out hot and we couldn't control the temperature and there needed to be a towel rail and hooks fitted but for a large person the ensuite and shower would be a problem. The room being at the back of the hotel was quiet throughout the night but no view as such and the curtains let in too much light, they should be thicker. Breakfast I thought was good, a full english, buffet style but freshly cooked and the breakfast room was ok. The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble and there was a good atmosphere in the hotel, I liked it.

I had a twin room with my daughter her son was getting married. Also my twin daughters had a room.everyone were very friendly although we didn't get there until late.breakfast was very good nothing was too much trouble certainly stay again.also u can have a parking voucher for outside the hotel.

Parking, when arriving at the hotel and booking in we were given a 24 hour parking ticket for just £1.00, we parked just outside of the main door in Howard Square. If you arrive early book in and use this parking.
Clean, tidy, refurbished, during our stay scaffolding clad the outside, all areas were clean, tidy and all being renovated or refreshed with a lick of paint.
Bar area - we sat in a little bar area with a tray of tea, other tableshad drinks, smokers could step outside on to the street and enjoy the seaside view.
Double Room, freshly renovated, en suite shower, no sea view, but awesome.
Single room, small, sea view, en suite shower, just perfect
Dinner - restaurant closed after 8.30 PM
Breakfast - Full English plus extras, kitchen would also cook extra or different if needed.
Recommended - Reception were always helpful, what ever you wanted.
"Note" as the kitchen closes early it is worth remembering to book in for lunch as they have a good in house kitchen and chef has been there over two years and he is very good.

I have stayed in this hotel several times since 2002, the most recent stay being May 2017. I love the sea view rooms which have large bay type windows. This time our ground floor room was facing the hotel opposite (so on the side of the hotel) but still had a seaview to one side. The room was clean, comfortable and nicely furnished, the bathroom had both a bath and easy to use shower. The bar and restaurant have been recently brought up to date. We didn't eat in the restaurant for dinner - maybe next time as the menu looked good. The breakfast was varied and plentiful. Overall, a good stay.

Great fillet steak , food good although not really big enough portion size for all four of us every time we have been you pay for steak then have to buy chips and onion rings separate, whenever we have had steak in stone before other restaurants serve with salad and chips .

Bar service all seem to be inexperienced Particularly the manager. Guinness fraught but never works you have to have it from a tin!

Very Limited selection of drinks and no spare Smirnoff vodka when we were there just house vodka on offer as Smirnoff empty not great for a hotel

Local wine served rose not very nice at all

For four people dinner an drinks £130 but still hungry even with desert each time we've been

Stayed here for 3 nights as we were in Eastbourne for a wedding.Room was clean and adequate. Shower was no good as the water pressure was awful.No bath so not good.On our second day we were out all day arriving home at 4 in the afternoon to find that our bed had not been made as cleaners had not been in. When we took this to reception they said they were sorry but they had new cleaners who were being trained .This is only a small hotel so how log does it take. Breakfast disappointing We ate out. Won't be returning .

A really well restored Edwardian hotel with an excellent restaurant, The Channel, and the most wonderfully helpful and friendly staff. Quite frankly, it is outstanding value at the price.

At this price, you can't expect the Ritz, but the beds were very comfy and the breakfast was basic but wholesome. The whole experience was a great break.

We will certainly return.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. I found the room very cosy and the bathroom was clean. The staff are very friendly and accommating, they make you feel welcome and valued. I'd recommend booking directly through the hotel website as you would get breakfast included which included cereals and various English continental breakfast foods. One recommendation would be upgrading asked the carpet and wallpaper is a little old, however the hotel is working on it.

Our sea view room (11) was a good size. It was on the side of the hotel which meant the sea view was at an angle but also that we were slightly away from the road which meant it was quieter. We booked direct with the hotel - they matched the best online price but also gave us free breakfasts. The hotel is in a metered parking zone but the hotel sell permits for guests for only £1 each which last for a full day plus the following morning up until 11am which is great value.

We stayed for 2 nights for our 49th Wedding Anniversary in March. We had a de-luxe room which had a large bay window with super views along the coast. The room was very clean, the bed very comfortable and the linen as new. Tea & coffee making facilities were provided. The radiator kept the room lovely and warm and was controllable on the rad-stat. Some of the workmanship in the room leaves something to be desired! but we felt that the hotel was good value for money.

The breakfast room was really clean. Breakfast was lovely and the staff went out of their way to accommodate my dairy-free, egg free, etc. diet.

We were able to park right outside the hotel - a card issued at reception costs £1 per day from 11 am until the same time the next morning and by using the card you can park anywhere in the town where the sign shows an "H". The hotel is within very easy walking distance to the theatre and Winter Gardens, easy walking distance to the town, and of course the sea and promenade are just across the road. I had wondered whether with the single glazed windows, traffic noise may be a problem but it was not.
All in all we had a very enjoyable stay.

Amazing experience. Wine tasting lead by the very knowledgeable Hardy from Cru (classy wine bar in town) and each wine accompanied by a sample dish expertly chosen to match the wine. Fabulous atmosphere, excellent service, best moules marinières I have tasted in years the only thing missing was a bit of French bread. Can't wait to go back! Oh and it is very good value ☺️

Nice place, decent room, very Ronseal worked in Eastbourne and stayed often over a 5 year period. Well worth it. Great pint of Guinness, reasonably priced too. Receptionist is from a Paris and very much understands guest needs.

During our schooltrip, our pupils stayed in host families. We stayed in this simple and clean hotel. The room was large for three people. It was a clean hotel and the staff was very friendly. Breakfast buffet with full English breakfast and other options.
We had dinner once which was very tasty.

So we just stayed at West Rocks Hotel with our beagle dog Gatsby (his first holiday away) for two nights on Thursday 30th and Friday 31st March 2017. I had my concerns about how dog friendly a hotel would really be, but those were soon squashed - Gatsby was made to feel every bit as welcome as myself and my girlfriend were right from arrival!

From this arrival until we departed the service and temperament of the staff at the hotel was exemplary and it is very clear they have a strong team ethic and understand that when all is said and done, people just want to be treated well and feel welcome when away from home. They were always helpful, polite and friendly and to single any member of staff out would be wrong as whilst one or two were particularly brilliant with us, I suspect had we spent as much time with the others we would have been equally impressed!

The hotel itself enjoys an attractive exterior elevation and retains lots of character internally, with some more modern fittings and fixtures mixed in. There is a nice bar, a couple of pleasant sitting rooms near reception all of which face the sea and in the basement is the breakfast room.

Our room (number 11) is a dog friendly room and was very well proportioned with an en-suite shower room, also enjoying a sea view to the side of the building. We had two 3ft beds pushed together and dressed as a 6ft bed, most luxurious compared to the 4ft small double we share at home!! I would certainly stay in this room again (if they will have us back again!)...

The breakfast was near perfect and anything I may have felt it lacked certainly wouldnt be enough to lose any marks. The buffet style as I have come to love included english fry-up favourites, cereals, milk, yoghurts, prepped fruit bowls, croissants, bread/toast and juices, with tea and coffee brought round. I have to remember we stayed at a quieter time of year, which is why such things as loose fruits, other pastries and buns, cheeses and hams may have been missing, as they would expect a lot of these items to go to waste without high levels of guests to consume them!

Again if I was overly-critical, some small investments could make a big difference (like new key tags for instance as ours was broken in half and sellotaped together) but this really isnt reflective of the overall feeling you will leave with when you stay here (and I really recommend you do)...

Eastbourne is somewhere I have personally visited several times in the past few years, I love that its enjoys the beautiful coastline it shares with neighbouring towns, but is a far cleaner and quieter place than Brighton and just a far nicer place all round than Hastings. I was a little disappointed on this visit, my girlfriend and dogs first to the town, that the locals we encountered whilst walking and driving around were not as happy as I remembered from past visits, but perhaps there have been some recent local issues I am not aware of that like anything will blow over quickly!

Please do read my reviews on the restaurants and activities during our visit, we had some fantastic experiences and a wonderful trip and will certainly be returning to Eastbourne again very soon! West Rocks - we will be in touch...!

We have just returned from a 4 day break at the West Rocks Hotel. This was our first visit as although we visit Eastbourne frequently on this occasion we could not get a room in our usual hotel.

Well this turned out to be a good thing, as we really enjoyed our stay at the West Rocks Hotel. We were welcomed by a friendly staff team and given a lovely room with a sea view. We did not get up for breakfast as we prefer to eat later in the day but we did make a reservation and have dinner in the evening. The West Rocks hotel clearly has a very good chef. The meal was excellent and above your average hotel evening dinner menu. The West Rocks also has a lovely little wine bar that you can chill out in and enjoy the sea views. The hotel has recently undergone some refurbishment and although there are still areas to complete this did not disturb our stay. The hotel has maintained many quirky features whilst adding a modern twist.

Thank you West Rocks Hotel - we had a lovely stay , we will recommend to others and will definitely return.

Had the pleasure of staying for 3 nights, bed was amazingly comfy, clean crisp sheets and towels, the view was spectacular. A tasty breakfast was served every morning, a good well stocked bar for us to meet up and amazingly helpful staff. Nothing is too much trouble for the guys at West Rocks. We are already planning our return trip.

From the lovely decor to the friendly staff this hotel was perfect. The breakfast was delicious and the location of the hotel couldn't be better. Rooms are nice and rhe beds comfy. Would stay here again

Just got back from what can only be described as an amazing weekend which was certainly helped by this hotel and its it's amazing staff! We had a family room on the top floor which was of great standard with no complaints whatsoever restaurant was great with lovely wines available too! Perfect location! Will certainly be back 😀

We booked a 1 night stay at the West Rocks. It is perfectly located for the beach and the town centre. The hotel itself is clean and nicely decorated. We took our puppy golden retriever with us and the hotel was very accommodating and put us in a pet friendly room which was simple and perfect for what we needed. Our breakfast was included. We were served by Francois who was welcoming and friendly. The breakfast offering is just right, not over the top but everything that you need. I would definitely come back to the West Rocks.
