We arrived at this hotel for two night stay. My husband mistakenly booked the room for twin standard room but the staff at reception was happy to change the room for us with no hesitation.To surprise we were delighted get a room with sea view on third floor. The room was huge and clean. On departure we asked if we need to pay extra fee for changing the room which we did not had to. We definitely recommend this hotel for best stay and best price.

Well this used to be my favourite hotel in Eastbourne; I've been visiting since 2002. I love the sea views from the large bay windows. I loved that this hotel wasn't full of coach parties - but guess what? - it is now. I feel the hotel has stopped improving it's rooms and corridors and is settling for being an average but not great hotel. It always previously felt that the hotel was being smartened up. Each time I visited improvements had been made. This seems to have come to a standstill. I still love my favourite seaview rooms but am now considering other hotel options in Eastbourne.

Great location! Two night stay. Friendly staff not just at reception but throughout the hotel. Really enjoyed the food, even the rice was perfect.
We were at the back of the hotel , so no sea view but just 30 seconds away was the beach. No worries. Nice bar area with views and a welcoming feel. Plenty of space in the hotel public areas if you fancy wiling away some time in comfortable seats.
Clean room, tea making facilities, comfy bed, hot shower any time of day, which was impressive given the hotel was fully booked! Quiet in our room as well!
Some people may have found our room 'bijou' but we stay at a hotel to sleep and eat not to spend all day in the room.

We had a twin room at the back of the hotel, the view wasn't great but it was very quiet.
The room was a good size but on the tired side. The small ensuite had a brand new suite but the shower tray didn't drain properly so only one of us could have a shower in the evening and the other one in the moment. The floor covering didn't fit properly. The wallpaper needed changing. For very little money it could of been a nice shower room.
WiFi didn't work in the room but this was stated.
The beds were spotless and comfy.
The tv only worked on two stations.
The staff were very friendly.

We stayed at this hotel for one night so we could enjoy the airshow again the next day. It was a last min choice and it was so quick and easy to book this is a Lovely hotel, cheap with sea views and friendly staff.

Great seafront location, friendly and helpful staff. Best prices around yet no shortcomings on standards or service. Reception kindly rang ahead and booked our choice of restaurant. And my left behind belongings were forwarded to my home address with my wish to refund the postage politely declined; appreciated.
Don't be concerned about parking, seafront or adjacent road parking is available for £1 per day via permits purchased at reception. Eastbourne council have something right here.

Nice little hotel right on the seafront so great views. Really friendly staff, who made our stay very comfortable. Room a little dated but really didn't matter. Thank you west rocks team you all get a thumbs up from us :)

My wife and I stayed here on the bank holiday Sunday for one night as a quick get away.This was our second visit here,the first being a couple of years ago.

This hotel is graded as a three star hotel and as long as you don't expect a four or five star , you shouldn't be too disappointed.
Staff although young , were polite,attentive and professional.The hotel itself is a little dated but makes up for this by having a wonderful position opposite the beach and in a central location.
We booked a sea view room that was large and clean . The bed was comfortable and had a excellent quiet night's sleep.The breakfast was of a good standard,the wife having fresh yogurt and fresh fruit,I had the fry up and we both thoroughly enjoyed it . For the price we paid we got excellent value and would will definitely return here in the future.

Stayed here for 3 nights over Bank Holiday Weekend. Very comfy bed, shower fine, breakfast only had once because got up late but it was nice. Cereals, toast, jams, croissants all on offer buffet style, but as you do; full English was what I needed and had. Rooms cleaned everyday with clean towels. I think the hotel has gone through a change recently but I would definitely go back. Parking is a big thing in Eastbourne but we had no problem and only having to pay a £1 in the special areas marked with an H, you get a scratch card for all day up until 11 the next day. Bargain..!! I would like to say though how good I thought the General Manager Ian Crow was. He offered us loads of advice and was always running about to make sure everything was running smoothly that including pouring my coffee for me. All in all a great bloke who just wants the best for the hotel and so makes you feel very at home. Thanks Ian..!!

A few days in Eastbourne saw three of us come to stay at the West Rocks Hotel.

We arrived a few hours before check in so managed to check a parking spot on the opposite side of the road from the hotel.

When we did check in, the staff at reception were very polite and helpful and we were able to buy car parking at a bargain £1 per day.

The building has started recent renovation work as a lot of the hotel itself looks quite dated to compared to other places I have stayed before.

The lift was more a goods lift and the three of us just about fit in.

The room itself had one window on the left side of the building with the View Hotel opposite but we were able to see the beach from the window. Having this window open was the only source of air coming into the room.

The beds were both very comfortable and we all slept well (the first night was quite hot but the other nights were fine.)

The bathroom was very small and a larger person may have some trouble getting around the room. The toilet roll holder was sideways and screwed in by one screw, the other hole on the holder didn't even match the hole on the way.

The wifi signal for the hotel wasn't strong enough to reach our room on the third floor, so we gave up with that on the first night.

Two pieces of toilet roll remained on the floor behind the toilet for the duration of the day and there were a few crisps under the smaller bed when we moved it from a previous visit.

There are obviously some good points as well and while I didn't complain about any of these small things, we were only there for three days anyway The location is really good for the price and we were also pretty much opposite the Band Stand and ten minutes of a very slow walk away from the pier.

If you aren't planning on spending much time in your hotel room and just need a bed each night, this will be ideal for you but if you are working and probably need the wifi, you might need to ask about a room where it will work out for you.

We stayed at the West Rocks hotel in May this year. We were a party of over 60's and had an enjoyable week.
The hotel is very conveniently situated on the sea front close to the shops and the bandstand. I had a room with a sea view which was a real pleasure on a nice sunny week.
It is an old fashionned hotel but is clean and the staff are lovely. My room was small but the bed was comfy and I slept well to the sound of the sea. The food was OK but the basement dining room felt gloomy and oppressive at times. Breakfast was good but the evening meals were variable. Access for people with mobility issues was via the basement and the lift struggled to cope with demand.
Eastbourne offers a great deal for the holiday maker. We had very enjoyable evenings listening to a variety of music at the bandstand and the Towner gallery is excellent.

Nice hotel seafront good views for airshow. Very friendly staff rooms clean and beds comfortable . Excellent for disabled people much attention paid to their needs despite having a few steps to reception. A nice lounge to sit quietly from the main bar.

We recently stayed in this hotel for one night, we were greeted very pleasantly .
The room was clean and beds were comfortable , we found the bathroom to be extremely small and hard to move around in.
We had a lovely view from our window.
We was situated on the 3rd floor and the room was very hot, the window was a sash window which was lovely when open but due to having a 2 year old we were unable to have the window open as it would have been very easy for him to fall out.
I would recommend taking a small fan with you if staying here in hot weather.
We chose to stay for breakfast which was very greasy and dried out as it was cooked and left under a hot plate. We was bought our tea and coffee and left to our own devices afterwards and didn't see anyone until we were leaving the restaurant.
It was fine for one night but I felt it was quite expensive.

Had a 2 night stay , great location , breakfast was limited but ok .
Channel Resturant food average , I had a Diet Coke which was flat I mentioned it to the waiting staff & no effort to replace the drink . Room very shabby lacking attention to detail with decoration & cleanliness .
Staff were ok generally but I do feel that a little customer relation would be beneficial .

I was staying in Eastbourne for one night to attend a nearby wedding and really wanted to stay somewhere that I could get a sea view. Of the places with available rooms, the West Rocks was one of few that you could actually specify a sea view and get an idea of what the room was really like.

I was probably just going to go for a single sea view room, but other reviewers on TripAdvisor gave the impression that those rooms were incredibly cramped, the bathroom especially so. Instead I opted for a Deluxe Sea View which was triple the price, but it was nice to have a big room and useable bathroom.

I didn't really have time to experience much else of the hotel, but it appeared to have a nice seating area to relax in downstairs. I did have the buffet breakfast which I thought was of a decent standard, certainly a lot better than some hotels of a similar standard in which I've stayed. You can purchase a £1 parking pass from the reception which allows you to park for £24 hours nearby. It was very busy on Saturday, but I managed to find a space in a side street a short walk away.

There were a couple of areas I feel could do with a bit of improvement:

- As the room takes full sun, it gets warm very quickly, despite the size of it. It would be nice to have a ceiling fan as there is certainly room for it. Failing that, a pedestal fan would do the trick.

- The room had bay windows, but two of them were painted shut. The one which did open had no locking mechanism on top. This wasn't really a security concern from people outside the hotel, as it's off the ground, but the window did lead out onto a balconette which is shared with two other rooms.

I would chose to stay here again.

All the staff we had contact with were polite and welcoming.
We stayed on top floor (penthouse) with nice view of the sea and other Hotels.
The lift worked all ok, although anymore than 3 people with bags would be max.
Parking ticket from Hotel is cheap at £1 for 24 hours

We stayed in this hotel for a weekend meeting up with friends. Booking directly with the hotel was better value than booking online and included breakfast.

We stayed in room 21 which was quiet and clean with a comfortable bed. The en suite was small - the only issue we had is that it is difficult to fill the kettle from the small corner basin - I wish I had realised sooner that the best way to do this is to fill mugs of water and use those to top up the kettle thus avoiding spilling water on the floor. The size and layout of the en suite would be a problem for a larger person or someone with impaired mobility- particularly as the WC is up a step around a tight corner behind the shower. I've taken a photo but it's difficult to get the necessary camera angle.

Breakfast was fine - we ordered scrambled eggs and found that 1 portion was enough for 2 to share.

The staff were pleasant and helpful although not the most efficient at breakfast service.

We would stay here again.

We stayed here last night. We visit Eastbourne about once a month and have been staying at different hotels each time. But unfortunately this is one we would not return to. We cannot fault the room, it was clean, comfortable and had a fantastic sea view. But the breakfast was awful. We had breakfast a bit later to allow a coach party to eat and leave first but when we came downstairs to the bteakfast area, it was an absolute mess. It was as if 50 toddlers had just wrecked the place. Hardly any food left, cereals spilt everywhere & a bite taken out of a croissant. We were told to find a table but every single table was filthy. I thought it would have been better if the waitress had wiped out table as soon as we sat down? We had to ask where to get coffee/tea, had no cutlery, had to ask for bacon. Nothing was replenished. It was a shambles. I work in the hotel industry and understand how busy breakfast times can be but there was no customer service and it doesn't take long to sanitise a table. Very disappointing when we had hung back in order for the coach party to eat first to them come down for our breakfast and have this experience.

Just had our fourth visit to West Rocks. Love it there, the staff our welcoming, friendly and lovely people, can't fault them. The hotel itself is well kept, extremely clean and well maintained. The 'yummy' breakfast in the mornings is very nice, a good selection of food for different tastes. The bar is well stocked and the bar staff are friendly and extremely polite. The Channel restaurant is excellent, top food and reasonable prices, and the stone steak is a delightful experience. It's really easy to find a parking over the road and you can get the parking voucher at reception for a £1 a day. Thanks very much for a lovely stay, we'll be back in September.

Stayed here for a quiet weekend on the seafront. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Manager mentioned they are refurbishing rooms, so can only get better. Nice to stay in hotel without that hotel soulless chain feel. Bar had limited choice, but enough for quick pre-dinner drink. Guinness was good using that new surger can rather than draft.

Slept well and my wife had breakfast (£8, if I remember rightly) and she said it was great with quick service.

On checkout manager gave us a tip to book directly and have breakfast included for free.

Location handy for the pier and town (10 mins walk)

I was on a GB TOUR for a week stoped at this hotel with my passengers and what a lovely clean hotel this is lovely views staff r lovely helpful genuine look forward to going again... keep up the good work u guys the only only down fall for me was the shower its got no power other than that loved it oh oh
Oh and the food it's gorgeous and based on my passengers feed back they wore very happy and would go back again... defiantly recommend it... 😀👍

I stayed here in a single room for 4 nights in July, my first impression was that the room was quite small but it was clean and cosy with a fabulous sea view which made up for the shortcomings.

Like the lady below I also made an unusual discovery, in the wardrobe I found a bottle of whisky that was still 1/4 full ! I took it down to reception and was told it would be taken up with housekeeping, I heard no more. Apart from this my room was clean, with clean bedding on a comfortable bed. Lying in bed with a cup of tea early mornings looking out at the view and listening to the waves was wonderful.

The big let down was the bathroom, I honestly can't think of anything good to say except that the towels were lovely, big, white and fluffy and the water (eventually) ran hot in both the sink and shower. But I have NEVER seen such a small room, not even in London where space is always at a premium. It was just big enough to hold a small sink and a WC, the door banged against the towel rail (not a towel warmer just a basic rail) and if you wished you could quite easily sit on the WC and wash your hands the sink at the same time! (No, I didn't).The shower was just a small tiled (old fashioned pink tiles) alcove with a curtain and there was barely room to step out of it because the WC was in the way. I am a size 12/14, a larger person would struggle, I had to dry myself in the bedroom as there just wasn't room to do it in comfort in the bathroom.

A couple of hooks in the bedroom to hang outdoor jackets/coats would be a useful addition.

Despite the fact that the hotel is on the side of the main road and faces the promenade it was not overly noisy at night, there obviously was some noise but not enough to disturb my sleep - and I am a light sleeper.

Members of staff were really nice, friendly and helpful, however their t-shirt uniform made me feel as if I was in a leisure centre, it really doesn't look professional, particularly on reception and in the dining room and it doesn't reflect the respect they deserve for working long hours and always remaining cheerful.

The food was OK, the first evening it wasn't very warm and the service was very slow, but breakfast the next morning was good with the hot food being continually replenished so everything was hot and plentiful. However I was not the only one who disliked having my breakfast tea/coffee in a mug! Dinner on the following 3 evenings was a great improvement on the first evening although I did find it unusual to have warm beetroot as a vegetable with roast chicken and gravy. There is a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains (always a roast, a fish dish and a pie) and 3 desserts, but no vegetarian option. Everything was plated and served to table whereas breakfast was buffet style.

The hotel is ideally situated on the sea front and not far from the bandstand, it's a short walk to the shops or the pier and there is plenty to do in the area. There are only a few outside tables on a small terrace area but there is a grassed square between the hotel and the View Hotel with wooden benches so there is plenty of room if you wish to sit outside. There are also lots of benches on the promenade.

Some parts are in need of a bit of TLC, there is some peeling wallpaper in the dining room, the single room bathrooms certainly needed an update and the bedroom furniture and headboards are dated but the most important thing is cleanliness and comfort and it was certainly clean and comfortable both in my bedroom and in public areas. Wifi is free in public areas.

Would I stay again? Yes I would but not in a small single room with such a tiny bathroom, I'd rather pay a little bit more and have a double room for single occupancy next time.

We had a very happy & relaxed weekend stay at WestRocks. Great location close to theatres, Towner art gallery & newly revamped pier. Also, wonderful little restaurant street close by (Thai, Italian & icecream parlour). Felt very welcome & at home straight away. Used as a base to meet family & friends. Worked brilliantly & we shall return!

This was the second time I have used this hotel for a group trip. The first time with 50 people for a walking trip and the second time for a cycling trip for 12 people.

The staff and management are really friendly and very helpful. They have always looked after us and all our guests agreed.

The bar and restaurant is really nicely decorated and has a nice feel and the food has always been good.

The sea view rooms are very spacious with a lovely sea view.

All in all we have been very happy and will continue to use it.
