I stayed at The Sheldon again, this time for 19 nights. It was perfect all round. I could not fault anything. Judith & Greg were just wonderful, making sure that my stay was comfortable, and that I had everything I needed. My room was lovely, and very clean with an en suite, plus free WiFi. There was also free off road parking, a mega plus in itself for Eastbourne. The breakfasts were to die for, with so much choice. Greg what is your secret for perfect poached eggs? Everybody was so friendly. It might have been the wettest & coldest June on record, but this was offset by the warmness of
the atmosphere of The Sheldon. I loved staying there, it was difficult to leave.I will most definitely return. Thank you Judith & Greg for all your kindness.

We stayed here over the late May bank holiday and had a comfortable stay. The rooms are spacious, bright and have all that you would expect. Our room had a small fridge with fresh milk which is a nice touch. We liked the breakfast which has a lot of variety including omelettes and boiled eggs which made my children happy. There is private parking which is always welcome.

We stayed in this hotel 2 nights, our family room was really big, nice and clean. When we first heard that it is located in the basement we did not know what to expect but it turned out to be a perfect accommodation for us and two little children (at least they did not disturb anyone when they were jumping/running/making noise etc.)
Good idea with a tea/coffee tray in the room.
Very happy with baby travel cot provided.
Few options to choose from for breakfast - there was something for everyone.
Great location - very close to the see but also not far from restaurants, shops and rail station.
It was a good choice!

This hotel is clean and with friendly staff. The breakfast was great and something for everyone. There are steps to the property so no good for the less able. The rooms are as described when booking. There is parking. One thing off putting is the sign on the locked door re booking in times so unable to drop off your bag before 3o'clock.

Let me start off by saying that the location of this hotel was lovely, although we did not have a sea view the surrounding views that we did have was lovely.
I was a bit disappointed with the sleeping arrangements as I booked a superior double bed and what we got was two large single beds joint together at the base of the bed we had two single mattresses so during the night I felt myself slipping in between the two beds.
The help yourself tea tray was fully stocked and tasty.
Although they warn you in the welcome pack that the shower can get extremely hot and that the cold tap will have to be fully used i couldn't find a happy medium so ended up scolding myself or freezing.
The staff were more than accommodating and friendly.
I had booked breakfast but I didn't get up in time for it, it would of helped if they could extend the breakfast times to allow younger guests to enjoy. (young couples)
Overall a very good stay in a lovely, clean hotel.

A warm welcome from the owners and a lovely room. Everything was a good standard - breakfast, decoration, comfort of the bed. We booked here as it is only a short walk from the Devonshire and Congress Theatres. As it has free parking it's ideal if you don't want to have to drive home after the show. Shops, beach and pier are also nearby.

Three years on and we have just spent a three night break in this lovely clean hotel. We did wonder if things had changed, yes they have but in a good way. The hotel is very clean, the breakfast is superb, Greg certainly knows how to cook an excellent "full English". This is a family run hotel which is a pleasure to stay in, having a car park is one of the good points as parking in Eastbourne is a premium. The Sheldon is excellent value for money.

Been a few times now to this hotel always clean and tidy. Had a great room massive bay windows lovely stay. Sadly didn't make breakfast any of the mornings but they're meant to be lovely. It's just off the main row for the beach and not far to walk to the pier.

We just got home after two nights at The Sheldon, and had a really enjoyable stay. The hotel is in a great location for both the seafront and walking into town, and we had a spacious family room with a double sofa bed, which met all of our needs perfectly. The boys enjoyed breakfast, especially the pancakes, and are already asking when we can return! Parking was really convenient - the room we stayed in could be accessed from the side door of the hotel, which made it so easy for transporting luggage to and from the car. Thank you - we'll definitely be back!

Me and my partner came up to Eastbourne for the first time and booked into The Sheldon. Really nice place, we had a standard room for 1 night and I thought it would be very basic but the room was big! Lovely little sofa and chairs to sit on with towels and toiletries. The tea and coffee facilities had a selection which was good but need more milk. The bathroom was nice, had a basic shower but we didn't use it. The room was very clean and up to my standards. Friendly staff and welcome.
Only shame was the breakfast finished at 9:30am for a 10:30am check out, I like a lay in on the bank holiday but I couldn't complain because the breakfast was very nice. Big selection from fruit, yogurt, cereal to a full fry up or pancakes. I had the pancakes which were cooked properly and not from a packet warmed up, my partner had the full breakfast and was pleased with it. You also can have tea/ coffee and juices as much as you like. The private car park was great to leave my car in and if you were checking out the next day, you are able to leave it there till 1pm which can come in handy.
Overall it was a nice cosy stay and we would stay again in the future.

We had a two night stay in a superior double room . A very big room with a two seat settee and coffee table, a walk in wardrobe and bedside cabinets. The good extras here were the iron and ironing board also a good hairdryer. One good thing was the guide to the room ,which told us about waiting a bit for the hot water as it's gravity fed and other helpfull information .For us the large double bed gave us our best night sleep ever away from home. We had the room on the bottom floor with a side entrance to the hotel . This was a lovely light room as was all of the hotel we saw . They do a very good cooked breakfast and a choice of cereals etc. We were surprised by how many people were at breakfast as it was so quiet all the time here. The staff were all very friendly and helpfull. Another bonus is the off road parking .All of the theatres are within a easy walk and so is the town. Very clean and light . Would stay here whenever in eastbourne.

I visited this hotel for a weekend away with a friend. It was easy to find. If you have a large car the car park is a little tight, but sufficient. Our twin room was big and comfortable. The breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. Good value for money too. I would go back.

My wife and I have just returned from another stay at the Sheldon hotel in Eastbourne. We only stayed one night as it was a trip to see Tommy Steel at the Congress theatre. The Sheldon is very good for this trip as you only have to walk a short distance to the theatre and there is a free car park at the hotel. The room was very clean and the breakfast food excellent. I am sure we will be back again.

Staff really tried to go the extra mile. Thanks to Jordan who enabled 2 dinosaurs to order a takeaway as they couldn't use their App. The only minor niggle was that in Room 28 there was a roll-top bath which meant that you couldn't use the shower standing up when there was space for a shower room - maybe something to think about in the future...

Stayed at the Sheldon from Friday to Sunday end of Jan 2016 for sons birthday trip to Eastbourne to see his fave band do a small gig. Check in was easy, friendly,. We were given room 31, recently refurbished, there were five of us in one room, but there was still plenty of floor space, ensuite bathroom nice and big, with bath and shower, very clean, very smart, complimentary toiletries. The whole room was very clean, comfy beds, we had super kingsize( really two singles together ) but lovely, girls had sofa beds that were clean and comfy. We were situated downstairs, which was good, as you had your own entrance that went straight out to the car park, saving a trek up the stairs to reception, the room was quiet, not much phone signal down there, but free WiFi was a bonus, and it worked very well. T.v was adequate, like home from home really, we decided to have breakfast at the hotel, as with three teenagers, the chances of them going out to a cafe at 8.30 in the morning without make up, hair spray and three costume changes, is billions to one, however, I secretly knew the hotel did vegan pancakes so at least two of our party would be very happy ! The pancakes were delicious apparently, the veggie brekky was lovely too, and the meaty one! ( husbands choice ) was delish he said. There was plenty of choice, cereals, juice, tea, coffee, soya milk, spreads, toast. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, the owners were approachable and accommodating,. Some steps at the front of the hotel ( like most in EASTBOURNE) so slow going for people that don't get on so well with steps, and steps down to our room, but not
a problem for us. Nice to have a car park at rear, but there was parking on the street, not sure on limits though. EASTBOURNE surprised us, we were told it was a bit ' elderly' but to be honest, it was lovely, the high street being regenerated, plenty of shops, the pier was nice, not so much for younger kids, but we enjoyed it, definitely go back in summer for long weekend, stay at the same hotel if possible, go book it directly, not through any other sites, it can be cheaper. Thanks Sheldon, had a lovely happy stay. Xxx

Lovely hotel. Run by a family and you really feel welcome. I had a few problems (work associated) and they were so helpful. Nothing was to much.
The room was clean and fresh. The hotel itself was clean and homely. The breakfast was lovely too.
I was travelling alone but felt safe and looked after and I would definitely come back to this hotel and recommend it to anyone. this hotel is suitable for everyone and for every occasion. The hotel has a lift for less mobile people.
I would like to thank them for making me feel so welcome.

We stayed here for a night in February. It was cold weather and the radiator didn't work in the bedroom ! The breakfast was ok but not what I expect from a 4* hotel.
The location is good for the town and the room was clean.

Friendly hotel with good parking, The room was large and well furnished, King sized bed nice and comfortable.
No Bath & shower was a little tired, however the breakfast was very nice.
What was a bit of a downer was the fact of, having booked through Late Rooms, we sat down to breakfast only to be told we have to pay for the meal as it is not included in the £78 we payed for the room, not the fault of the hotel, who told us Late Rooms do not include the Breakfast on any bookings,s I should have read all the print,
but if you only go with the Reference number you would not realize
Further more if we had booked direct with the Hotel it would have cost less.
Staff were helpfull

Stayed here with 7 year old child, lady in her 40s, and another in her mid 60s. Room 18 was a quiet room at the end of the corridor. We didn't hear any noise at all. Lovely spacious clean room. Bathroom did not have a bath, was quite cosy, but did have a shower cubicle. Ample free parking on site, helpful staff. The only thing to let this place down was the breakfast. Burnt sausages, awful fried egg, and a long wait for it to be cooked even though it was pretty empty in the restaurant. I would stay here again but possibly look into having breakfast elsewhere.

This is a large old building. It needs some expensive repair and I feel that the cost of this reflects the owners problems. The costly staff costs have been pared and this shows in (a) the breakfast room where the single staff works very hard to cater to guests. (b) the housekeeping staff again work hard to service the many rooms to an acceptable standard. The good points (and there are many). Reception was staffed by a very friendly young woman (who turned out to be the owner). Booking in was swift and we were taken to our room, TV operation was explained. The room was spacious and divided into bedroom and lounge. En-suite was adequate but shower had some slight mould between joints. The water in the shower can be scalding and dangerous. Wi-Fi was spasmodic. Breakfast was plentiful and well cooked and presented. The premises are within a couple of hundred yards from the sea front and 10 minutes walk from the good shopping centre. The hotel car park is a bonus. Will return.
