I really enjoyed being at The Shaldon . The welcome I received was really friendly, my room was excellent ( sometimes single rooms are a bit small but this wasn’t) and had the added bonus of being able to see the sea! I appreciated the information pack which was very comprehensive. After a very comfortable nights sleep I enjoyed a very good breakfast with the best scrambled eggs I have ever tasted. The off road parking is another bonus. I shall look forward to a return visit!

Just returned home after a short stay at The Sheldon, we highly recommend The Sheldon it's our go to place when visiting family in the area, this was our 3rd stay and just perfect again, the rooms are lovely and big, spotlessly clean huge comfy bed everything there (even an iron and ironing board) to ensure a comfortable stay. Always a lovely warm welcome and I would feel absolutely comfortable to ask the lovely owners if I needed anything. Breakfast is delicious with an extensive menu to choose from. So if you're searching through the many places to stay in Eastbourne you'll not go wrong at the Sheldon with the added advantage of its own car park at the back and convenient position just off the sea front.

The Sheldon is an excellent choice when staying in Eastbourne. It is very close to the sea front and a short walk into town. Pubs and restaurants are very close. The Sheldon is in a great location. We were on a seven day holiday and the location helped us.
The room we stayed in was large and comfortable with an excellent bathroom with shower over the bath. The rooms are very clean.
Their is an excellent choice of food and drinks at breakfast and the breakfast times are generous.
There is car parking at the back which is a fantastic bonus.
Judith & Greg are "not in your face", which is how we prefer, but they are very helpful when needed. They are the ideal hosts.
We intended to drive to the places we were going to visit, but the transport system is so good in Eastbourne we used local services.
This was our first visit to Eastbourne. We totally enjoyed the town and the visit to The Sheldon. We cannot wait until we return.

The Sheldon was perfect for our Wedding Weekend, September 1st. We were able to book 7 rooms which meant all the family could be together. All the rooms are spacious , so ideal for all our wedding gear. Having the private off street car park was a real bonus.
We filled the Sheldon fridge with champagne, and made full use of the communal lounge, both on the eve of the Wedding and in the morning. The close proximity to the promenade makes it ideal for a walk by the sea.We received such a warm welcome ,we would definitely all stay again!

We have just returned from a lovely break at The Sheldon. Our room was extremely spacious, the breakfasts were fabulous and the staff were friendly, helpful and polite. It was a quiet and relaxing break for us. The location was perfect to enjoy walks along the seafront, the many restaurants nearby and a variety of shops. Highlights for us were the Eastbourne bandstand shows: an Eagles tribute night on the Friday and Rod Stewart tribute on the Saturday, which were so much fun. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Sheldon to any of our friends.

Only some minutes walk to beach or town centre, a lot of restaurants/pubs are nearby. Big advantage: own car park behind the B&B (free of charge). Large room, good breakfast and very friendly staff. Thank you very much

We've stayed at the Sheldon several times. Breakfast is top quality with good pleasant staff. We've always requested a quiet area room and that's exactly what we've received. Nothing is too much trouble for the team, provided you tell them if there is an issue there and then. It's no good writing a bad review after the event, when something could have been dealt with immediately. We will be staying here again.

I am not sure if this was our fifth or sixth stay at the Sheldon B7B but all of them have been very good. We only stayed one night as we wanted to see the show at the local theatre and I am now of the age that night driving become a problem. We have always had a good welcome, with a nice room and a excellent breakfast , as it is only short walk form the Sheldon to the theatre with a carpark ready to use it is ideal. Many thanks for a nice time.

The property is ideally situated being a short walk to beach or town. It is very clean and comfortable and the owners look after your every needs. They are friendly and sociable. The breakfast is very good with plenty of choice. The real bonus is that they have their own car park. A real asset in Eastbourne. Really enjoyed our three night stay.

My wife and I stayed here from the 20th May for 4 nights and were made to feel very welcome right from the word go.
After parking the car at the rear of the building (car park a great asset as street parking very limited and chargeable). There were not many guests in residence when we arrived so we had the choice of car park spaces on arrival and as stated on the website the entrance to the car park is restricted by height but we had no problem in our Fiesta.
We were met on arrival by a polite young man who took our payment, explained where our room was situated, the location of the breakfast room and smoking areas and breakfast eating times. He said if anything further was required just to ring the bell on reception and as we could not get the TV to work later in the day we did just that and he sorted that query out straight away.
Our superior twin room, number 18, was on the first floor with a street view and certainly lived up to our expectations and was as described by Judith in a telephone conversation at the time of booking. The room was a the end of a corridor and accessed through a door on the landing, another entrance door and the room door itself. This created and oasis of calm as there was only one other room in this section and for most of our stay this was not used.
The room itself was huge with plenty of drawer space, not a lot of hanging space but this was made up by the more than adequate drawer space and was sufficient for our needs. There was also a settee and two chairs with a wall mounted Freesat TV and 2 bedside lights and another freestanding light.
The refreshment tray was tucked away in separate area containing the wardrobe, iron and ironing board and the bathroom was also in a separate area of the room both accessed by their own doors. We had booked a silent room fridge and this was up and running on arrival. The lift to the rooms is another great asset.
The bathroom was small but ok and the small shower cubicle had a fixed shower head which was fine for our stay and supplied plenty of hot water.
Breakfast was good each day and there was a varied choice on the menu. Cold buffet and drinks on a help yourself basis and hot food and toast served by a very pleasant young lady.
Spoke to the owners,Judith and Greg, throughout our stay and found them to be very helpful at all times.

Well situated Hotel for the Sea Front, Shopping, and dozens of places to eat. My only negative comment is about the outside area at the front of the Hotel that could do with a sweeping brush to improve the look of the entrance to an otherwise very orderly residence. This unfortunately caused a rating of Very Good rather than Excellent. We visited Eastbourne for a short one week stay and to play golf. There are plenty of good quality courses nearby, and the prices are very reasonable. We will definately return next year.

I stayed here recently for 2 nights with friends. The Sheldon is a bit too big to be called a B&B, but it isn't really a hotel either. That said, it's in a good, central location with private parking. My superior double room was a good size, although the standard single rooms don't have a lot of space. There's a good range of breakfast options.

Have just stayed two nights and was very satisfied. Our room was very spacious, with a small sofa and chair and we had everything we needed. The owners were helpful, it had its own car park, was very close to both the sea and the town and the home cooked breakfast was delicious and elegantly served.

The Sheldon is well stitauted for the theates,, the twon and the beach ... being about equal distance and not too far from them all.
Few town centre establishments in Eastbourne have parking, the Sheldon has plenty. What a great start to know that you can park on site but the car is safe for the duration of your stay.
Our room on the lower ground floor was very spacious, double the size of many a hotel, with an en-suite bathroom with both bath & shower.
The room was well furnished and clean, and the bed was extra large (2 singles joined together).
Everything was efficiently organised with clear instructions for TV and Internet use.
This B&B would have scored 5, but for a couple of breakfast points. The waitresses tended to let the coffee run out, before putting another on to brew, leading to a wait and queues. And, the full English breakfast whilst well presented had items each day which were not as hot as we would have liked.

This was our second stay here after first staying in 2014 just after the owners had taken over. It is quite clear that the owners have invested heavily in up grading the building on all floors. Including some areas which are not visible to the guests.
We stayed in room 15 which over looked the rear of the building. This was spacious, light and modern. The breakfast was just as good as last time, the young ladies serving were very polite. Good choice of continental or full english breakfast served between 08.00 - 09.30.
As many other reviews have stated this B & B is ideally located for the sea front, shops and restaurants. And of course on site parking.
We will be back again sooner than another 4 years. Good luck to the owners moving forward in their business.

We stayed for two nights in a twin room and were absolutely delighted with it. Our biggest need was for parking and the rare private car park was brilliant.
Our room was large, bright, airy, and had plenty of storage space; they really have thought of everything. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast was amazing; freshly and beautifully cooked and of generous proportions.
Sadly there was no-one around when we left (in fact we hardly saw anyone other than check-in and ordering breakfast) so we were unable to thank them for a wonderful stay. We do travel to Eastbourne every now and then and this will definitely be my first choice in future.
Of particular interest was the provision for a variety of special requirements - social, dietary and health. On this occasion we had none but having an autistic daughter with other health issues I was very impressed and would have no hesitation bringing her to stay here if she were travelling with me in future.

We booked one night online at The Sheldon B&B. It looked good from the photographs & information provided from their own website. Particularly their own car park which was a bonus for us.
Everything was confirmed & our special request acknowledged as my husband has coeliac disease so food must be gluten free.
We received a warm welcome & headed to our room. Which was very spacious, clean & light.
Later we headed out for dinner to a restaurant which was recommended by them & armed with their passport to the local area (a brilliant idea!) which gave us a 10% discount as well as a detailing the places that cater for gluten free food.
We chose The Pomodoro E Mozzarella which proved to be a great choice - so thank you - we had a delicious meal in this delightfully busy & popular Italian restaurant situated very close to the B&B.
We had a very comfortable & an excellent nights sleep. Breakfast was tasty & the gluten free sausages & toast were very good. We asked about the toast bags which we hadn’t seen before & were told where we could buy them for our own use. Such a clever idea for toasting the gluten free bread!
Really enjoyed our stay at The Shelton B&B & we will definitely return when we next visit Eastbourne. Such a great find & we thoroughly recommend a stay there.
Thank you - see you again soon!

I'm not a fan of those B & Bs which stuff a just a bed and minimal storage area in a tiny room and expect you to have a comfortable stay. I'm delighted to say therefore The Sheldon has extremely spacious rooms, plenty of storage space, and in addition to the comfortable large double bed had a chair and a small double sofa - which made reading before going to bed a pleasure rather than a chore. In addition there was a large bathroom with roll top bath. I should, however, mention a minor issue. The room has two sash windows - one which couldn't be opened at all (stuck fast & handle removed) and the second by only three or four inches. Not an issue at this time of year but maybe in the height of summer.
As others have mentioned:
- Helpful staff
- Use of microwave and fridge
- Great breakfast (bar the coffee which is in serious need of improvement!)
- Large car park
- Free wifi
Overall a great place to stay and I have no hesitation in recommending and I will return.

Me and my Partner went to Eastbourne for a Valentines Weekend away. The room was vast and comfy. Its was the sort of room you could really relax in. The breakfast was very nice and we were waited on most efficiently. The staff were friendly and welcoming and even recommended a way my partner could cure his cough problem. The weather was ghastly but that can't be blamed on the hotel but a real happy stay which will be a first choice next time I go to Eastbourne. Plus my boyfriend is scottish, so everyone got along.
