The common areas are dated and the indoor pool and spa needs some refurbishment...but the outdoor pool is a gem, and the rooms, food and drink and service superb and good value. Overall a good spa break with friends.

Have stayed here a few times now and would not think of staying anywhere else in Eastbourne. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely as well as quite as we had requested. Our short stays always seems longer because we can relax in the comfort of the hotel or take a stroll along the sea front. The shops near, short walk, but not too near and the little theatre is just around the corner so always a good place to check out.

Comfortable, friendly and ideal hotel for a short break. Well looked after without being intrusive, good food. Excellent weather was a bonus for the time of year but if it had been poor then the guest room was a very comfortable place to sit with a good book and just relax.

A pleasurable twenty four hours knowing we would be well looked after. Service from arrival to our room, a drink in the lounge and an outstanding 'tasting menu' in the Mirabelle. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable and entertaining.

The Grand provides exceptional service and is a beautiful old world hotel with a very special ambiance that I believe to be unique. The rooms are beautifully decorated with fantastic views out to sea. The level of staff service and attentiveness is first class

The Grand at Eastbourne is a first class establishment in all senses. The excellent staff, from the doormen, receptionists and porters to the bar and restaurant staff are always polite and accommodating and reflect the high standards of this 5 star establishment. Rooms are roomy and clean and well appointed.

Great hotel in a good location.
All the staff were friendly, kind and extremely helpful.
Rooms good except they need the addition of a good make up mirror for the ladies.
The rooms also lack a fridge And/or a mini bar.
The showers also need upgrading and this was an executive sea view room!!
Standard buffet breakfast was excellent but when taking up the offer of cooked fish I was served with a cremated kipper. It looked more like a left over warmed up and tasted like it. Unfortunately no time to wait for another as a treatment was booked in the spa.

The deluxe room was small and not worth £160. Hotel needs updating and the price of drinks was extortionate and took an age to arrive However the staff were great and the location was fantastic. Won’t be back.

Service excellent, attention to detail to make your stay 1st class is due to the courtesy and service provided by the staff. Hotel is Lovely, beautifully restored to original grandeur .

Our only disappointment was the main course in the Garden Restaurant. The waiters were very good but unfortunately the chief definitely had an off day or was training.

Outdoor heated pool is well worth using, lovely and warm even on a cold day.

Superb service throughout - all the staff are friendly and professional. The food and service in The Garden Restaurant are without equal. The inland view rooms are comfortable, but the bathrooms are a bit pokey. Superlative outdoor heated pool. Rather modest gym facilities and a tired sauna.

Room good, service excellent, breakfast good but both evening meals poor, presentation and content.
Not 5 star dinners, poor choice of menu, same menu lunch and dinner in the better Mirabelle.
Overall very disappointed and not good value for money, have had much better evening meals in hotels than we had here

The Grand Eastbourne is a quality hotel and never fails to please and always a pleasure to return and enjoy all that it has to offer.
Whilst in the U.K for both my wife and myself there is no other choice than the Grand - we take pleasure in entertaining our grand children @ The Grand thus educating them to all that is good in a quality hotel.

It is unfortunate that overall a very good stay with my kids and mostly kind and helpful personnel were overshadowed by an online unpleasant touch of sort I have not experienced in family friendly hotels before and even in hotels not positioning themselves as kids friendly: one of my sons unfortunately had a minor bed wetting accident during the last night at the hotel. I mentioned this to reception at 9am on the day of checkout. At 11 I checked out and everything was fine. I left the luggage at the hotel and spent some time exploring the town with my kids. When I came back before taking a cab, I was given an envelope at the hotel. When my kids asked what it was, the response we got was

An imposing hotel in a very traditional style, and all the better for it. Superb room on the third floor with characterful creaky floors! In general the staff were excellent although the reception staff could be a bit cool and officious. The doormen were wonderful though!
Food and service in the restaurant was very good for dinner although breakfast was a bit more casual, and could have been speedier.
Overall, a great feel to the place.

On first look the hotel is grand and impressive, however, look a bit closer and it is very obvious that the place is in need of a total refurbishment. The overall feeling is that the rooms and corridors are stuck in the 1980’s. The spa is pretty basic and lacks space.

A wonderful hotel true 5 star luxury, great position, had a lovely sea view room. impressed by the vigilance of all staff members we came in contact with, and enjoyed the health club. Would definitely recommend for either a short break or wedding venue.

Great character hotel with superb sea-view room. Good spa/swimming facilities. Friendly staff with professional outlook. Let down by food quality in general for both evening and breakfast meals eg lack of seasoning, cold and sometimes tasteless food

Sea facing rooms are stunning. This is a very well run hotel with professional and discreet staff. Dining room is wonderful, candle lit, fresh linens all the little touches that make it a luxury experience. Outdoor pool is warm even on a cold day. Location is perfect. Town facing rooms have a poor view so if it is for more than a quick overnight, make sure you book a sea view for a real showstopper of a stay.

Simpy wonderful hotel and staff, from having last been there in the 80s we were so excited to come back and had a superb time. Next time we won't leave it so long and will definitely be back again soon! Highly recommend!

Stayed for one night. Lovely concierge gentlemen - extremely helpful and were fantastic first impression. Check in desk efficient - we arrived at 1.50pm - room not ready till 3.00ish so we went out for a walk along the front. Beautiful day and hotel just across the road from sea front.

Got into room at 3.15 - our room is on the first floor. Room had small double bed - very snug bathroom with the dreaded shower curtain! No mini fridge or iron and ironing board but there is a safe, trouser press and nice hair dryer. Have small molten brown toiletries which is a nice touch. Not exactly a room with a view but it was very clean and there was a nice nespresso machine and 3 coffee pods.

The room was lovely and warm so would suit if you feel the cold. Our rating for the room would be a 3 as we have stayed in cheaper hotels but the rooms have been bit more modern and larger especially the bathroom and size of bed. The 4 stars go to the staff who are exceptional especially the two ladies who came in the evening to refresh the refreshments, provide new towels and turn down the beds - nothing was too much trouble.

Breakfast was superb -a variety of cereals. Buffet style for fruit, yoghurt and cooked breakfast. You could also order a cooked breakfast via the waiter or waitress as the only egg at the buffet was scrambled. My husband had the full English ordered through our waitress and I had buffet. Both were exceptional. Toast and tea/coffee - small cafetière and silver tea pots. Tea was of excellent quality. The staff were very busy but so efficient and accommodating and very friendly.

Gym was very small - only a few machines and some weights. Spa pool small also and busy with quite a few children (it is Easter holidays). There is an outside pool. Couple of people were in it. Would be lovely during Summer I am sure.

Happy to answer any questions if you are contemplating a stay. If you want modern this is not for you. If you want exceptional service and silver cutlery and quintessential charm this is for you.
