Herstmonceux Castle was built in the 1440s by Sir Roger Fiennes, King Henry VI's Treasurer, who fought at Agincourt and was knighted by Henry V. It was the first large English castle to be built of brick. There is a beautiful castle, moat, gardens and woodland paths to walk around and guided tours inside the castle are available at certain times.

Fantastic day at the England Medieval Festival. One day is not enough to take it all in. Will return for the whole weekend.

We were there for the English medieval festival on Monday Bank holiday in August 2018. It was fantastic, I was really surprised by the size of it and the variety of food, goods and handmade crafts. A wonderful day, beautiful castle and a great amusement.
