Beautiful castle with large surrounding grounds and gardens. A castle tour is a must if you wish to see inside the castle; the tour lasts about an hour, and only runs once a day.<br><br>Expect to spend an hour on the tour, and hour in the grounds and gardens.

Beautiful castle in mint condition with lovely expansive gardens. Only let down is how modern the castle's interior is, due to it being used as a university.

Lovely peaceful place with picturesque castle beautiful gardens description with every plant, flower and herb and dozen plus different roses that all have a distinct smell.<br>We visited in June and payed a modest admission fee I think it was about £5.

Lovely grounds, didn't get to see inside the castle due to an event, worth checking beforehand if you want to do the tour. Along with the observatory it's a great day out.

Beautiful place & beautiful gardens. Unfortunately there was a wedding going on so we were unable to go inside the castle. The Tea rooms & gardens were nice though.

Lovely looking castle and Peru gardens. The tour of the castle was good, but the inside was disappointing, as it had been modernised throughout. Also a bit difficult to get to without a car.

Their website should say when the castle is closed for private functions as it was today. That said, we enjoyed the outside view and gardens. Worthwhile.

Having a wonderful time at the castle. Gardens are fantastic, as is the castle. Visitor centre and coffee shop onsite. Parking available for the castle and garden and additional parking if you're staying in the accommodation.

beautiful place... Limited disabled access due to location.. but Handrails on Stepped areas around Moat walk are terribly loose..So even those with walking aids like sticks and crutches will struggle in places. Some of the disabled wheelchair path through the Orchard to the rear of the castle is very uneven and on a slope.. so manual chairs may struggle here. Some 'gateways' to the gardens are very narrow so wheelchair users watch for those too..but much can be seen.. even with limited mobility. Also bear in mind, If you are visiting for photos of the Castle.. try and choose a quieter day when castle tours are open.. I dropped on a Wedding there and a 2 hour wait to get a shot of the front with no people lol.<br><br>Edit: Response to Owners<br><br>Many thanks for your response. The rail in question is located to the front right of the castle wheb looking at the front.. leading down to the Moats edge. It is very wobbly. Still overall a very good visit... and concessions for mobility have been made where they can be given the location and geography.

Lovely place for a picnic in the sunshine. Castle is well worth a tour and is only a few quid just check on the website the times as only a few tours a day. Gardens are lovely and a few walks around the grounds and the woods which is nice. All in a really nice day spent here.

Naja, ganz nett, schön angelegter verzweigter Garten. Extra Eintrii zu verlangen, nur dafür, ist schon fast dreist. Die Räumlichkeiten der Burg können eh nicht betreten werden, da es sich um eine Kanadische Privatuni handelt. Schöne Lage, ideal für einen Spaziergang nach dem Obaervatory, aber für sich allein steht die Anreise und erstrecht der Ticketpreis in keinem guten Verhältnis. Es stellz sich also die Frage,ob man ein Kombiticket für Castle + Oberservatory wirklich braucht - ich denke nicht. Landschaftlich schön gelegen, ein Pfau huscht durch die Gegend, paar Eichhörnchen, ganz nett...

Amazing place to visit. Not many know where or what herstmonceux castle has to offer but you will have a great day out for the whole family. It is also really cheap compared to similar places.<br>Highly recommend!

The castle holds a special place for us as wife went to school here and we were married here. It was good to return and have a good look around.<br><br>I highly recommend the guided tour. Our tour guide Bryan was both informative and numerous and kept everyone entertained. So much interesting history here.<br><br>The gardens and surrounding area are beautiful. Take a walk to the Folly and see the fantastic gardens. Walk in the magical woods.<br><br>The cream tea in the cafe is a must eat too!
