Eastbourne Blind Society – 100 Years of Local Vision Support

Eastbourne Blind Society is an independent local charity supporting blind and partially sighted residents across the town and surrounding areas. With over 100 years of service to the community, their mission remains unchanged: to offer guidance, friendship and practical tools for people navigating the challenges of sight loss.

Founded after the First World War to support injured veterans, the Society has grown into a trusted local resource for anyone affected by visual impairment. From in-home visits and tech demonstrations to regular social activities, their team helps members build confidence and maintain independence at every stage of life.

Services include:

  • Free advice and emotional support

  • In-home visits and mobility guidance

  • Equipment demonstrations for daily living

  • Social activities and member events

  • Volunteer-supported transport and companionship

Run with the help of dedicated volunteers, the charity also supports carers, families, friends and employers seeking advice. Their office remains open throughout the week, offering a welcoming space for new referrals, returning members and anyone seeking support.

If you or someone you know is experiencing sight loss, Eastbourne Blind Society is here to help with dignity, empathy and local expertise.
