Found this pub whilst walking along the seafront, seemed to be the only one, was jam packed on a sunday but we managed to get a table and dog friendly, plenty of barmaids about, quick service for both food and drink , food very good, even managed a return visit

The Crown and Anchor pub is just of the main sea front.
The crowds of people must show how popular this place is.Drinks were expensive , but as you are enjoying good live music al;ong with your tipple its worth it.
A good selection of meals are on hand , and the staff serve you fairly quickly.A great pub for a night out.

Came across this pub somewhere between our hotel and restaurant, its a lovely pub with a good mixture of age groups drinking in there. There was live music on later in the evening.
The food looked good although we didn't eat in there, although having said that I could not see a vegetarian choice on the specials board, there was several options on the menu which to be honest looked like they could have been bought in frozen and not cooked fresh - hopefully I am wrong about that. There was plenty of bar mailds on duty which was nice as they were attentive and aware of who was waiting to be served. Prices were perhaps a little higher than some pubs but worth that little extra.
Great little pub.

We were invited to an opening night at the The Crown and Anchor and were treated to superb seafood and wine. Very comfortable atmosphere and we will be returning. Cannot speak to highly of the staff who were articulate, friendly and efficient. Food was wonderful and so fresh, seafood heaven.

Really popular place offering good live music and surprisingly good and reasonably priced food. Staff were very friendly and the pub seems to be looked after really well.

Me and my boyfriend visited here on our first night in Eastbourne for a drink before heading off for curry. We liked the atmosphere, although the drinks were not cheap! We then decided to try it for dinner the next night. We ordered at the bar, a platter for starter and two mains. We had a problem in that a main came first with a young waiter who appeared fairly new. Another waitress came over and sorted our meals out, and they were very pleasant about it. The food was delicious, overall the staff were pleasant, and the atmosphere was great with live music on both nights.

We went here because it was dog friendly and they were very accommodating to us. The service was great and the food was good also. They have a pool table, darts board and Sky Sports.
They also had a band on in the evening. Overall has a great time here, would recommend.

I was in Eastbourne Wedenesday and Thursday on a min-break! I found this excellent pub not far from my Hotel. Would - be visitors: imagine you are facing the pier ,walk a few hundred metres to you left and there it is !! I had lamb shank as my main meal and it was delicious! The preceding comments are all so accurate that I cannot add on to them! Will now choose hotels in this part of the resort on the grounds that I will have an excellent ale-house within walking distance.

Excellent food, but be warned, the portions are large. We had a selection of starters and main courses and every one of them was superb. Very reasonable price for the quality and quantity.
The staff are even more tasty than the food ;-)

Visited last evening prior to theatre. Welcoming feel and staff. Food very good and a fair price. Only downside one of the party had liver and while the flavour was good the portion of liver was small. Will not put us off going back. Overall good experience.

Called in for an afternoon drink whilst on an overnight stay yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. Ended up going back in there in the evening after a poor hotel dinner and ended up having pudding/cheese at the bar followed by a few drinks whilst listening to a great young band. Most of the bar staff very good and attentive and a lovely environment and atmosphere. There were also lots of people eating and the food looked pretty good .

Popped in to have a pint after a long week and a one night stay in town. Saw the ribs plate float past and my partner was sold.
Food was good price and big portions. Only complaint was there wasn't much option for a veggie and the options they did have were all very heavy and big plates.Hopefully there are some lighter options in the works??
Service staff was fantastic and nice atmosphere all around.

We have enjoyed the food and great atmosphere at the Crown & Anchor for some time now. The new refurbishment looks amazing and gives a more upmarket feel to this warm & friendly establishment. We booked the restaurant upstairs for a special Valentines evening and were very impressed with the redesign of this function area. The restaurant was extremely busy but the table layout was considerate and not at all cramped. There was a decent amount of options on the new menu & plenty of specials on the board as is usual. I can highly recommend the starter sharing platter and we both enjoyed the delicious ribeye steaks. The wait for food was a little longer than the usual wait time but the very friendly & attentive staff kept us informed and kept our wine glasses topped up. All in all another wonderful night. I think this new look Crown & Anchor will appeal to an even wider clientele. Thankyou for a delightful evening..... Will be back soon

I visited the newly refurbished Crown and Anchor on Valentine's evening with my wife and we were both delighted with the evening. Although I have visited the pub a couple of times to drink this was the 1st time I had eaten. I had a delicious homemade burger, and my wife had the Lamb Shank. She said "it was the best lamb shank she had ever had" we asked how it was cooked and were informed it was slow roasted in real ale for 5 hours, Mmmm nice! They were obviously much busier than expected, but kept us well informed and very well plied with drinks all evening so it actually made a nice change to sit down in a warm, friendly atmosphere and have a great conversation with my wife over a bottle of bubbly!! We then finished off the evening by going downstairs into the bar and watched a really good live band. Then even after I had been steeped in real ale for 5 hours, I managed to show the wife a brilliant dad dance!! (wife didn't think so, strangely??) Excellent evening & highly recommended*****

We had our annual works do at the crown and anchor a couple of evenings ago. It's the first time we have chosen this venue as we usually go to Brighton. There were 15 of us who all enjoyed a great meal and were very well looked after by the staff who couldn't do enough for us. There is a really nice sports bar area with darts and pool and our night was topped off when an awesome 3 piece band set up....brilliant !!
Great beer, friendly atmosphere, highly recommended *****

Had meal here 7th Feb 2015 before going to The Hippodrome Theatre to see the Three Degrees. I ordered the lasagne and it was enormous. It came with 4 pieces of garlic bread, salad and in a dish big enough for 2 people. My Husband had the scampi with chips and our male friend had the steak and they were well pleased. My friends wife had jacket potato and that came with salad and that was very good to.The pub is very busy with several tv screens and a separate bar with a pool table. The service was very quick considering how busy it was because of the Rugby and football that was on..Would definitely eat here again.

Have been to this pub a few times. Last went here 8th Feb for a meal. The food was really nice. Recommend the garlic mushrooms for starter. Good place to watch sport as well.

We visited on Saturday 7th Feb and had the most amazing night out for a long time! We were down for the weekend and were so lucky that the pub had reopened after its refurb. The pub is so friendly - not cliquely at all. We were made to feel so welcome. We had the most delicious meal - roast belly of pork with roast potatoes and vegetables. Everything tasted amazing. The vegetables were glorious and roast potatoes were superb. My partner had the lamb shank which again was delicious. The portions are very generous! Really fresh and tasty food. We stayed for the band 'the gangsters' and danced the night away to ska beats! Thank you!

Went back to Crown & Anchor today after they had been closed for a few weeks, for a refurb.
I was hoping that it wasn't going to change too drastically and thankfully it hasn't.The same cosy feeling is still there,as is the excellent food and the open fire.
The crispy pork belly with roast potatoes and veg is my all time favourite, but none of the mains have disappointed.A good range of beers too.
Highly recommend 😁

Eaten here many times as its close by, shows football, reasonably priced and most of the food is really nice.
However, some of the staff are rude, often get your order wrong or wait 30mins to tell you that what you ordered has run out!? Best meal is sausage and mash and worst is roast beef on a Sunday as it's always dry.
