Mixed feelings. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The bottle of wine was reasonably priced and the food portions were large. My only gripe - and it is quite an important one - my fried fish was nearer to burnt than cooked - definitely overdone - so not a great day for me. Some you win. Otherwise it seemed a very good pub.

We have visited this pub twice now while on overnight stays in Eastbourne. The pub has a very friendly clientele and good music I think three nights a week. If you like a lively time go !

We were pleased to have found this "local" when we visited Eastbourne overnight last Wednesday as the road that has all the restaurants had been taken over by "Black Widows" bikers, (Every Which Way But Lose / Any Which Way You Can). The menu seemed good and the prices looked ok but the main attraction was that there was plenty for my veggie wife to tuck into who was looking forward to the Seafood Platter while i was looking forward to tucking into a well done but juicy Rib-Eye Steak.
We ordered Garlic Mushrooms for starters and for some reason they bypassed those and brought out my Steak first so i sent that back. Never mind, mistakes happen. The starters turned up 10 minutes later and wow, what a size. There was enough for both of us to share. In fact we could have offered them around the pub. It more than filled us up though and we asked for the main in about half an hour but they arrived 5 minutes later anyway. Never mind, mistakes happen.
My wifes' Seafood Platter looked lovely and she certainly enjoyed it, however, my "Rib-Eye" Steak, it was definitely not. Even a bad one will have marbelling edible fat running through it which you can't even see when it's cooked, but I've never had a Rib-Eye Steak with thick inedible gristle running a centimetre all round one side.
I cut it off and eat it anyway as i was hungry but this did confirm it was not a Rib-Eye.
I wasn't going to say anything but the waitress asked so, well i made my thoughts known, politely of course and to be honest i wasn't expecting anything. She went off and came back and said the manager offered a free drink but we were leaving anyway so i said well if there's something on offer i would rather have reduction in the bill. She went off and came back again saying the manager was also not happy with the butcher that morning and the state of the steak and said there would be no charge for it.
Naturally i accepted but i had to ask, if the manager wasn't happy with the steak in the butchers, and didn't buy it? So i asked how and why it ended up on my plate and she didn't know. I said it was because they didn't want to lose sales and were hoping people would eat it without saying anything - which i almost didn't until i was asked.
Other than that it would have been a perfect experience and we will go back there again - but i think i'll go for the Seafood Platter next time or ask to see the Rib-Eye Steak before it's cooked.

Just visited the Crown and Anchor after a long day of sight seeing. Amazing food. Fantastic server. Quick service. 1 wine, 1 pint, 2 kids meals, 3 entrees = £35. Food is delicious and plentiful servings. Quiche of the day was yummy, and Mac n cheese was creamy and tasty. Both entrees came with salad, coleslaw, potato salad, and the quiche came with a potato side dish as well. Highly recommended.

Lovely pub right by the beach. We sat outside the front as it was a gorgeous day. My friend had the veggie burger which he said was lovely. I had the homemade vegetarian quiche & cheesy garlic bread which was gorgeous.
If in the area again we would go back.

We have visted the Crown & Anchor pub several times over4 years, this year we felt it did not have such a good apmosphere, as it had got very load even early in the evening due to local builders now useing it at about 5pm when it used to be quiet and nice to eat early, we also felt while the menu was much the same as usaul, the food was not up to their usaul standard and care in presentation was now very poor, salad was limp and old and not arranged apetisingly, condiments were in mucky containers which needed a wipe....

End of year staff party Thursday 21st July. The function room at the Crown and Anchor is upstairs. Good size room plenty of room to dance the night away. The buffet that was presented was to a high standard and enjoyed by all. The staff working on our event were efficient and professional. The evening was enjoyed by all and we have booked again for our Xmas party.
Down stairs in the pub was buzzing and plenty of people eating. We thank the staff for such a good night.

We visit Eastbourne every year to visit family. We stay on the seafront and the crown and anchor is 2 minutes walk from our hotel. Good quality food at a reasonable price. The ribs are to die for as is the lasagne and burgers. A big advantage is its dog friendly too as we always take our dog with us. Lovely food and friendly staff. Looking forward to our next visit.

Good beer at a good seafront venue not far from the pier. Efficient friendly bar staff and a good crowd in to listen to the talented Mel Hayes.

Lovely location right on the seafront, with a view of the sea from the patio at the front (if you look over the road, anyway). A wide selection of good food is available - it seems to be of the mass-produced kind, but is good quality and well cooked. Pleasant, if somewhat cramped, interior (too many chairs and tables in what is, after all, quite a small pub), and friendly, helpful staff. Definitely one to return to.

Had a couple of meals here and they were lovely. The pub is very family friendly (up until 9pm) and they made a real effort to fit us in. Food was nice and service was excellent. Music was great too, although we had to ship out with the kids so couldn't stay for all of it! Very close to the seafront, even with views of the sea if you stand up and look over the sea wall!

Booked a table and arrived slightly early but this wasn't a problem. We were shown to our table with no fuss.

Great, delicious choice of food and friendly fast service.

Thoroughly recommend.

I've eaten here a few times this year, the food is excellent and the portions are huge, not normally any room left for a pudding.
Last time I visited we ordered what we wanted from the menu, the food arrived after a short wait, but I am certain the plates are smaller than before and the portions are definitely smaller , I finished my meal with ease and was still quite hungry. Is this a crafty way of increasing the price of the food ??
That said it's still an excellent pub, great atmosphere and friendly welcoming staff.

This pub was next to our hotel but we were busy all week and last night we had a beautiful 10oz Ribeye steak!! It was love served on a large slate with lovely roast vine tomatoes, chunky chips
mushrooms and it was delicious. As we left they were setting up speakers for music. It is a Very friendly and family orientated pub. Would definitely return..
