Visited here with a mate as we were in Eastbourne for the evening. Live band playing which was great, really good music. Lots of people dancing but no elbows flying about so safe to stand on the periphery! Seemed to be quite a friendly place, easy to talk to the locals and no long queues to get served. Well worth a visit on a night out.

Was in Eastbourne for the weekend & this pub was very close to our hotel. It's a large premises which welcomes everyone. We dropped in several times over the 3 days we were there, although we didn't eat there, the menu looked tempting & the prices were very reasonable (I live in London where all pubs are quite expensive) All the food I saw being served looked really nice & good portions too. The staff were attentive & a barmaid remembered us on our 2nd visit which, given that it was so busy I thought was quite impressive. Just off of the main road facing the beach this is an ideal location for a family or couples lunch. On Friday night there was live music but it wasn't so loud that you couldn't enjoy a conversation with friends. So nice to find a real pub with friendly helpful staff. Will definitely visit again next time I'm in Eastbourne.

We first visited the Crown and Anchor pub one evening last year.
It was a busy evening and when we went in it seemed that everyone looked at us.
Now I understand we were strangers and perhaps they don't get many visitors out of season but the stared at us the whole evening. If I was a beauty I could understand but we are OAPs. We actually left because we were uncomfortable. We are used to enjoying a pub meal now and again so don't believe we were being sensitive.
This year we were in the area and wanted a pub lunch so decided to give it another try.
The barmaid was pleasant and we ordered sandwich and drinks.
The pub had a sports bar with large TVs etc . There was seating out the front and a very small patio at the rear. There was also a function room for hire.
The sandwiches arrived, the bread was very fresh and thick. Far too much butter for me but not for the others. We all had different fillings which were fine but nothing to rave about. The salad garnish looked a little tired .
There was a extended evening menu on a board which looked very nice but we did not have the opportunity to try it.
The drink and food prices seemed average for the area.
We might try it one more time in the evening to see if it is "clicky" or it was just a one off.

Arrived here to find football showing on a number of TVs in the pub with everyone just staring at the screens and it was all a bit dismal really
Beer was good and staff were nice but I wouldn't bother coming here again when the TVs are in footy mode

After several visits, very rarely disappointed. Food tasty, and selection good. Can understand what other reviewers have said about service re plate clearing & lack of offering puddings, drinks etc, but it has always struck me as a bit more 'self service' in that respect. Not a criticism as I really like this pub. It's just a case of setting your expectations at the right level. Relaxed !!

We decided to come here for lunch after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and we weren't disappointed. There is a lovely warm, calm atmosphere in the pub and the staff are all lovely and happy to help. The food was delicious - I had the special lamb burger which was cooked to perfection and my partner had the fish and chips which was again, cooked perfectly. We shared the jam sponge for dessert and it was gorgeous with a perfect jam:sponge:custard ratio. I would highly recommend a visit.

This place just never disappoints! We've been here a few times since Feb this year when we stumbled across this hidden gem! This time we popped in around 3pm today (Sunday 22/5/16) after being welcomed by a lovely lad behind the bar, I stood to order at the bar as is the protocol normally but was intercepted by the bar lad who had appeared to take our drinks order! He returned pretty much immediately with our drinks and taking our food order. Within ten minutes we were presented with our food, which as usual looked, smelt and tasted amazing! My hubby had Belly of Pork which he was in awe of, I had the lamb burger, which I would never have ordered but due to recommendation of our lovely bar lad, I did, WOW!! My eldest daughter had the adults rack of ribs which never fail to deliver with my youngest enjoying her usual kids mac and cheese, which as usual you would think was an adults! I cannot fault this place yet and will return again on many occasions....Keep up the good work guys!! :)

Visited here whilst on a break to Eastbourne. The food was good although presentation of seafood platter not that good but tasted nice. Sat with empty plates whilst young lady at bar busy chatting to young men about her weekend. Plates eventually collected no offer of pudding or coffee forthcoming so left without either but would of had dessert if the staff had been bothered about customer service.

My partner and I are local's at the Crown & Anchor and can only recommend this fabulous vegetarian classic to the specials board. The Halloumi burger is a great summer treat and as ever the welcome is warm and atmosphere vibrant in this seafront location on the Sunshine Coast!
Definitely come by if you happen to be in Eastbourne.

This is a good "typical" English pub, with a nice menu, comfortable seating, quick and efficient service and a separate area dedicated to sports (billiard etc.). The food is excellent and portions tend to be on the huge side. There's also a separate menu for children.
