Having arrived in Eastbourne around lunchtime on a Friday, we decided to do for a hot lunch. The Crown & Anchor provided a friendly welcome and a menu which suited us both. I went for the fish n'chips while Mrs Moose had scampi. It was good, no frills pub food - enjoyed by both of us.

Has a dedicated vegan menu, which is great for vegans and veggies alike. The food we had was decent pub food, with a good mix of options beyond a vegan burger. We had a falafel and vegetable cous cous bowl. High chairs were available for younger kids. The staff were fantastic and helpful with anything we needed

Short break in Eastbourne and ventured back to the Crown and Anchor having previously visited a few years back. Glad we did, Pretty busy but managed to find a table, staff member with us pretty quickly to take drinks order and offered menus, well after deciding on starters, chicken wings and tempura asparagus and mains quiche and steak and ale pie settled down to enjoy our drinks. Well when both courses arrived they were absolutely fabulous, tasty, hot and perfectly cooked. Staff were great, very attentive. Will certainly be returning when next in the area

Really generous portions and totally delicious. Has to be the best meal I have eaten in eons..... and that includes my wifes cooking (dont tell her.... but hers doesn't come close)
I would happily return, indeed, I have to return.If there was a higher rating than 5star, The Crown and Anchor would get it from me.
Seriously..... if you are anywhere close to Eastbourne.... then this has to be top of the list for eating(There are many events there as well, alas I couldn't stay.. I will next time)

Great atmosphere, a friendly mature crowd of all ages, a wide selection of (mostly*) good live music at weekends, and good food all the time.
The staff are efficient, capable, polite and organised, drinks are fairly priced and so is the food.
As a live music venue this place is small and can struggle when there's a popular act in, it can be oppressively crowded sometimes, but this is rare and usually a lot of people will leave after the first set if this is the case. There is a large function room upstairs, and I often wonder why they don't use it more for live music, but I guess private hire revenue outweighs the extra numbers they could get in.
*Karaoke on Sundays. This is NOT good live music, but that's the point.

This is a great place for live music, meeting friends, eating and drinking. A majority of the staff make you feel welcome. In the past on a few occasions when I have booked a table there has been quite a big waiting time for food, which wouldn’t be a problem if we were told upon arrival, but to be told 30-45 minutes after being seated and orders have been placed is not how it should be done. Especially when there is a booking after yours, which means we then have to scoff our food and there is no chance of ordering puddings or enjoying the food as you have the next lot of people watching and waiting for their table. When this issue is rectified, I will give 5 stars.

Stayed in Eastbourne for a night and went here for dinner. Had a great experience! Excellent service, lovely meal for a very decent price and great offers for vegetarians (they even had vegan mayo). Special mention for their salad which had these little sweet chilies (?) that were lovely. If you're in Eastbourne drop by and make sure to book ahead if possible as this place gets busy for good reason!

Food fantastic when it eventually arrives ,we booked our table and still had to wait over 50 mins for our food to arrive,a sunday roast on a sunday..staff not so good,never asked while eating if everything was OK or if we needed anything,place was not busy this day but they seem to prefer chatting with each other behind the bar,perhaps no managers there that day..would return for the food alone

We went to the Alexander Arms which is owned by the people of the, the crown and anchor, we've been here a couple of times now and every time the service, food, and general atmosphere have been excellent friendly staff and good food priced very reasonably, well worth a visit for afternoon lunch.
