We visited this pub twice while in Eastbourne for the weekend. The Friday night was buzzing with a live band doing 80's covers. Well stocked bar with real ales and great friendly bar staff. Clientel is a mixture of locals and holiday makers of all ages with a friendly atmosphere. On the Saturday evening we watched the live football here (they have all channels) on big screen. After the football we settled down for a meal. Great selection of 'home' cooked food to suit all tastes and realistic prices till 9pm. Don't be put off by the 'scruffy' appearance outside, as this is under decoration by the new owners. One of the best pubs we visited in Eastbourne.

This pub has a nice location on the seafront, conveniently located near many of the town's hotels. The food is standard British pub fare and food quality is solid. We had fish and chips, sandwiches, etc. and all of our dishes were the standard you'd expect from a nice pub and arrived quickly. The atmosphere is also very cozy so it'd be a great place for a few drinks or coffee as well.

Very good British food. Good hand pump Cask Ales. Good atmosphere. Great music. What I liked most is the vibe ...

The first night we entered this pub it was so crowded we decided to try again the next night. What a fantastic meal! My husband had the lamb special, and I had pork belly. We would have paid at least twice as much for this quality of food at home....highly recommended, even if you need to wait!

Friendly and prompt service.
Very tasty food: my crispy pork belly did indeed crunch and crackle, the roast potatoes were perfect and a special mention for the vegetable sides which were fresh and just really good.
Other people in the group seemed to think the real ale was good too (I'm not much of a drinker).
Highly recommended, we'll be going back.

Decided to eat here rather than at hotel restaurant - the bar/restaurant area was busy although we did get a table without waiting. Service was quick and friendly, ordering meals at the bar.
After a short wait, the meals arrived - very large quantities, good selection of vegetables included, nice and hot.
Absolutely nothing to complain about although not the place to go if you don't want to eat amongst all the drinkers in the bar.

On a glorious March Saturday my son and I had a couple of pints and an excellent pub meal at this wonderfully situated pub on the sea-front.
Would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for this type of food.My son had fish and chips while I had belly of pork - both were delicious and there was plenty of it.

As the title says. She was given a very warm welcome and a bowl of water without having to ask. We were told we could sit anywhere. Food was very good, large portions reasonably priced.

Excellent family run pub that does home cooked food Wouldn't normally go in a pub that had sport running all the time but the service and food is just so good that this pub is highly recommended The fact that this pub is always very busy highlights just how popular it is.

More of a " sports" bar which serves fresh food, large portions.
Very friendly efficient staff. Varied menu good value.
Not a venue where you can relax.

This pub is close to the sea front. A traditional house with wooden floors and decor, the food was to die for, fresh and beautifully cooked-we have never had pub food which tasted as if it had just been prepared and so reasonable! The menu varied and diverse, the service was excellent.
The only downside was the increased drafts as the two doors were opened very frequently to accommodate smokers despite the fact that the pub actually provided a seated smoking area-try to get a table away from the doors!

We stayed in a hotel near the pub and popped in for a beer, found the staff very friendly and ended up having a few more and a meal. The steak was excellent as was the cottage pie - plenty of veg as well.

We only popped in her because it was raining for a quick drink, we ended up going back for 2 nights to live bands and great atmosphere. Was a great time this was like our holiday local.
Food in here is amazing, make sure your starving before you order. Lovely big portions and fantastic food, I had chilli burger and my hubby he had half chicken, everything was delicious and hot. Well done to the chef. And thanks to all the staff you were all helpful

What can i say? Nowadays its very rare you find a warm and welcoming traditional pub in Eastbourne, so what a find the Crown and Anchor is. Visited a few days ago with a friend. We were welcomed with a friendly smile as soon as we entered. There was an excellent choice of beers and lagers on tap. The choice of menu was outstanding. I chose a sirloin steak and it was cooked to perfection. My friend chose the belly pork and this too was extremely tasty. Neither of us could believe the value for money of both meals. What a lovely experience and we will be back.

A charming, welcoming atmosphere. Food is brilliant, sky sports for those that want it. Pool tables if so inclined. Decor is fine, not far from the pier and centre of town. In fact the sea/Beach is just over the road.
I would highly recommend this to anyone, be they a single, a couple or a family.

Used trip advisor to see the best pub. Had not visted Eastbourne in a very long time so had no idea where to go. As per the last review, from the outside it doesn't seem somewhere that you would expect to go for a decent Sunday lunch. There was a menu with sunday roast with a choice of starters, 4 different roasts and 4 or 5 deserts. There is an offer on 2 or 3 courses but I can't remember the prices for these but it was good value. If you don't have a massive appetite I would suggest you have the roast and see how you feel. There is also another menu and specials so if you didn't want a roast there is plenty to choose from. Dad had the chicken and I had the beef. We had the choice or roast or mash potatoes and we went for the mash. It was delightful. There was an amazing selection of vegetables all nicely cooked. The meat was lovely and dad got half a chicken which was succulent and the gravy very tasty. Staff were very friendly and very attentive without being in the way or bothersome. Lovely end to a sunny day in Eastbourne. Will certainly be back very soon. Dad also loved his tshirt which they sell

The outside doesn't make it look particularly inviting.
Inside is typically pub like but a lot of the seats were badly stained which wasn't nice at all.
Hubby went for the fish and chips and got a good size portion which was ok, chips were nothing special.
I got a starter of camembert, which was 3 good size triangles with some lovely warm baguette and some side salad - which had several bits of almost black lettuce which were very limp and looked disgusting.
There was a large group of people who very quite noisy and obviously getting quite tipsy.
Meal was just ok but I wouldn't come here again.
They let dogs in.
