My partner and I have just returned home from a weekend at The Burlington Hotel. At first glance on arrival yes, the facade is a bit shabby with peeling paint etc. However the lobby and bar are nice. All the staff on reception and at the bars were very friendly and efficient. The lifts are ancient but who cares? You don't go away to inspect the lifts! Our room (a superior double with sea view) was roomy. A large double bed (king size) with crisp white linen and good towels. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Tea, coffee, water and hot chocolate provided. Great view. Again yes, the window frames are shabby but with it being such a huge building the cost of upgrading these would cost tens of thousands alone. We ate out so I can't comment on the breakfast. The price of the rooms are excellent and we were more than happy with our stay. Great location, clean room and communal areas, great staff. A bit of flaking paint never hurt anyone. If you want ultra modern with upvc windows then pay more and choose an alternative!

Only stayed the night but room was clean, nicely presented, staff are pleasant and helpful, rooms look modern for a old building, would book again when visiting again

Perfect location The location was excellent It was a little tired, worn carpets in reception. Our bathroom wasn’t as clean as it should, particularly behind the toilet.

Room very spacious, and well lit. Lovely sea view, great location.
Dated but to be expected with such an old building.
Staff nice and breakfast adequate.
Will definitely return
Could do with a deep clean esp carpets, but very adequate

Charming It has its old luxury charm. I can see that in the past it was a top-tier hotel. Right in the front of the sea. Could open windows. No air conditioner.

A pleasant and affordable stay with good food and excellent staff The staff and the food were very good. The blinding needs a lot of upgrading. Disability access was limited and the entrance point needs to be clearer.

Attention to detail on my dietary requirements wasn’t so good, with messages not being passed on, but problem solving was good.

To help people with dietary requirements feel they are getting value for money on the meals, rather than excluding things they can’t eat, because there is an ingredient(s) that they can’t have, it would be good if the venue could work to offer similar meal items without the problematic ingredients rather than the person not being able to have the item at all. Eg there was a lovely cherry pie on offer for pudding one (indeed this related to many desert items) but I couldn’t have it as it had a wheat base (gluten), making the same pie but with gluten free flower would have meant I could have chosen that item from the menu. Instead I was left with just having fruit salad most evenings or nothing at all despite some lovely items being offered to others.
The facilities clearly need upgrading and wheelchair access in and around the building needs improvement, and for existing plans, greater clarity.

The photo advertising this venue on Booking.com needs upgrading as the present one shows the Carpet Gsrden at the front. This has now been entirely removed by the Council and the front now looks very different. This should be shown in the new pictures, otherwise it’s a bit misleading.

Ventilation in the rooms could be a bit better, my room got very hot and stuffy as the weather was humid at times, having clarity about how to pen windows a bit farther would have been helpful. Something else to be improved is the arrival pack. This was virtually non existent. More of information about hotel services, advice, activities and local events in the area I that pack would also be helpful. Having this in other languages would be good too. I appreciate that people can look on line perhaps but with most of the people saying there during g my visit being well over 60, there is a good chance people may not be regular users of the internet so written information packs are important. All in all the visit was value for money all things considered and the staff were very good 👍

The food was exceptional! Staff friendly and very efficient. Bedroom was refurbished very well. Shower great ! Both a fan and radiator supplied.
Beds were comfortable and beding lovely and clean
Windows filthy with pealing paint inside and out. ( this did not affect our stay )
Bathroom needs an update but again did not affect our stay. Could do with a grab rail to get out of the bath. Could do with more plugs.Could not take photos out of the windows as they were filthy and didn't open

We will go back soon. The price was very low, we had a superior room with sea view, with half board.
We thought we would probably only have breakfast & eat out in the evening.
Breakfast was very good & the evening meal was good enough, very good value.

Great, fairly price accommodation The staff were very friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble.

The breakfast was very tasty and the buffet option had great variety.
To be honest it wasn't so much i didnt like it as i wasn't expecting red carpets and crystal chandlers but i felt it was a little bit neglected. Could do with a lick of paint to bring it back to life.

Comfortable bed & armchairs. Carpet not very clean & wood work tatty. We had a lovely seaview but the room was almost unbearably hot even with the supplied fan, maybe the bigger rooms are more airy. All staff very good & helpful with charging my husband's mobility scooter. Breakfast buffet plentiful wouldn't have minded a change from scrambled eggs though. Coffee was excellent.

Great position and added bonus of payable car park behind the hotel. Bar, restaurant and reception staff were excellent.

Cleaners not so good and rooms in need of a good deep clean. A Victorian hotel so quite quirky.

Breakfast adequate and reasonable prices at the bar.

Would be happy to return there.

Well located in Eastbourne. The location is excellent. Its a tired old hotel in need of major rejuvenation.

Our rooms are usually very good. This one we stayed in this time not as good. The carpet was dirty, small beds but ok. The bathroom a bit cramped. Apart from carpet room was mostly clean. As always the staff good and very nice breakfast.

Would easily stay here again Massive room (superior twin) comfy and clean with great views of the sea and pier. Nice big shower, loved it. Snug lift! Teeny tiny! But other than that, I can’t fault it.

Love Eastbourne, will come again. The location of the hotel is superb. We’d bought the superior sea view room which had a magnificent view of the promenade and the sea. The food was good and plentiful, breakfast excellent. Rooms serviced daily if required.
This hotel is very old so if you can see past the quaint old fashioned style and features , then you’ll love it.
Having a room at the front of the hotel and the weather being very hot at the time, the road noise was very noticeable.
