The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean although quite basic. Breakfast was really good with a big choice available. We had a very enjoyable stay and the only reason I marked it down was due to the hotel looking tired in different areas and could do with a refresh.

Great location! Right by the beach & a few restaurants around the corner. My only complaint really is the lack of amenities - little things like no fridge or microwave in the room, no ice machine in the hotel, no fan/ac - it was very warm in the room and I had to open the window, but the windows do not have screens so a few bugs flew into the room. And the water pressure in the shower was very poor - the bathroom sink had better water pressure than the shower. I was only there 2 nights so it was fine overall, but for longer stays I’d probably look for something with better amenities.

OK but not quite what it was Location
Friendly staff
Main lift out of order all week
Things you'd expect, such as bath mats, glasses, hair dryer, information sheet no longer there, unless requested
Shower over bath difficult if mobility limited because of poor location of handrail
Would have been nice to have window which opened

A comfortable overnight stay. We had a large room which was clean and tidy. The reception staff were friendly and efficient. The bar was open when we returned from our evening out, which is always a bonus. We didn't eat at the hotel, but our overnight stay was good. Lovely location, right on the sea front, opposite the pier. The lifts are a novelty , and we had a leaky cistern in the bathroom, but it didn't inconvenience us.

Hotel was very dated. Room door was bowed and didn't fit properly, window frames were rotten and corridors very noisy. But, staff were friendly and welcoming, room furniture was knew and bed and pillows were very comfortable.

Massive room and fairly warm inside in the rusky February weather. The old elevators, very funky, especially the right one lol Was smelling of mold, everything is dated, in need of renovation - get rid of the ugly fitted carpets! Also the bed, the smallest double I've ever stayed in a hotel - with my wife I slept head to toes as impossible to sleep next to each other

- great location near sea front
- not far to walks on South Downs
- friendly staff who are happy to help
- cost of staying
- I enjoyed my stay and would stay again
- no housekeeping during 3 day stay. Whilst it didn’t bother me, it might others not having bins emptied or towels replaced

The Victorian feel of the hotel.. excellent breakfast.
Good quality food. Perfect location for the sea front and town.
Some rooms are in desperate need of updating.
The hotel is in constant maintenance because of its age. Built-in 1850.

Perfect location for accessing local facilities and attractions. The staff were very attentive give and helpful. Service was always provided with a smile. The property is dated but there are still small snippets of the former glory of this hotel.

Central location, opposite Pier. Greeted by a very pleasant, helpful receptionist, Shelby. Good, comprehensive breakfast buffet, well cooked and sensibly presented. Good value. Tired, dated, building over 5 floors but with only one tiny lift working. Claimed to facilitate 4 people but carried a weight limit of 300Kg. Clearly intended for Lowry Stick People. Fortunately, from a safety perspective, it would hold only 3 of a larger 2026 stature and only 2 with luggage! At busier times, it is not a hotel suited to those who would struggle with stairs. The non-working lift appeared that it might be slightly larger but, if so, not by much. I stupidly stepped into the shower without pre-checking shower-gel dispenser. It was empty! Clearly something which had been ignored by housekeeping. I also slipped in the bath shower, gashing my head, before realising that housekeeping had left a non-slip in-bath mat rolled in the bedroom wardrobe. Why would it not be left in the bathroom? The hotel offered good value but was largely chosen as it also offered on-site parking. Would we stay there again? Despite pleasent staff, adequately furnished rooms and clear efforts to clean and service a tired building....... No!

Generally a good hotel for a short stay. Location and generally friendly helpful staff. Frontage looks a bit tired in places and could do with some TLC & maid for some unknown reason didn’t clean our room…

Does the job for a cheap hotel stay. Hotel is in a great location, has a bar, restaurant and friendly staff. Inexpensive & decent sized double rooms. Rooms were very outdated, bathroom looked like it hadn’t been renovated for 20 years. There were patches on the ceilings/walls from damp or leaks and there was bird poo on the inside of the curtains. Only 3 plug sockets and none near the bed which wasn’t ideal.

Great location, staff helpful, good breakfast, building tired. The location was the reason we picked this hotel, in the centre of the town and within easy walking distance for the theatre. Lots of places to eat nearby, and a well lit car park. There was plenty of choice at breakfast. The building was tired and needed TLC. The bathroom was very narrow and needed a new coat of paint, the towel rail didn't work, the bin hadnt been emptied properly - old teabags remained. Only 1 lift was working which was slow and could only hold 2 people.

Underwhelmed Great views ,very good breakfast evening meals were ok and a different menu every night very friendly staff ,special mention to the bar and waiting staff Dispite saying in description daily hospitality we did not get any hospitality apart from one day after we asked three times even then they did no cleaning just left fresh t bags, bathroom floor was sticky having not seen a mop for a while. The hotel is very run down and requires a lot of work ,torn and stained carpets loads of tatty paint the jobs that were done weren't finished ,the windows in our room were such a bad loose fit it was permanent noise and wind, the towel rail had no control and was baking hot day and night
