The staff here went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and at home which was much appreciated. I’m in hotels most weeks and whilst the building itself could do with some love it’s a historic gem and the staff work super hard and are friendly, efficient and helpful. I had a brilliant night sleep and would definitely book again. It’s not the snazziest of hotels but it feels like home!

Comfortable for a one night sleep. Bed was comfortable, good shower Room was very tired, smelt very musty which may be lack of use or the rotting windows. Lacked cleaning of room surfaces, particularly around the shower base. Black not treated. Would be easy to resolve and keep up.

We wouldn’t stay anywhere else. We can get an upgrade most times when we arrive. Super breakfast. Everything you could w It’s always clean. So close to town and the theatre. Car park a must. The staff are so very friendly. They greet us by name as always stay here. If there is an issue it is dealt with quickly and easily. It’s an old hotel but very comfortable and we love it 🥰

It was wonderful. Great staff, rooms and location. Thank you Wonderful value and a spotlessly clean room.
My friends were upgraded to a sea view and twin beds without us asking.
Everybody very helpful
One of the lifts was out of service for a while and my friends were stuck in the lift beforehand. All was calmly and efficiently dealt with.

Good but would avoid breakfast Upgraded to seaview room. Well worth the money. Even though the room and building needs updating it was very clean.
I would stay here again, but would not pay the extra for breakfast.
The breakfast. Very limited with only watery scrambled eggs. Sausages we nice but bacon very poor quality. No butter for toast. No muffins, pastries or crumpets (possibly run out, when we went to breakfast at 8.00).
Every morning there were dirty glasses and bottles stacked up on the bar. We had a drink prior to going out for dinner. On returning 3 hours later our dirty glasses were still there. (This is possibly due to staff shortage)

Shame that there was no choice of eggs on the breakfast menu. Lots of dust on skirting boards, hasn’t been cleaned for a long time. Overall a lovely short break. Would not put off another visit. Maybe next time a room further away from the lift. Noisy!!!

Would have been excellent if evening entertainment was better and quieter. Room was excellent Entertainment was appalling. Far too loud and no where to sit away from the horrendous noise. Whilst Michael was excellent singer, far, far too loud so could not stay and enjoy. Andrew was terrible singer, tone deaf and needed far too much backing to cover his lack of talent.
If only the blue room stayed open, even without the bar being open, it would have made our stay so much better for our evenings. We have been 3 times now and each time it has been the same experience so possibly will try somewhere else in Eastbourne next time. What a shame.

Pleasant but hotel needs some TLC Very clean, comfortable bed, nice reception area and evening entertainment, perfect location. Hotel could be lovely but is a bit shabby and in need of TLC, £25 late check out fee was a but excessive.

Excellent sea front location, a good sized twin room and bath with easy to use shower. Close to pier, shops and restaurants. They stored our bicycles in a locked ground floor room.

Holiday Very close to beach and facilities. Easy to access transport to explore surroundings areas. Was clean if dated. Décor was in need of a spruce up but nothing major.

Lovely hotel in a great location, just needs a little TLC The view from our room was excellent as it overlooked the beach and sea. The room was large and well placed. Bed was very comfortable.

Staff were pleasant and very attentive, despite it being very busy.
The hotel looked a tired and in need of a little TLC. Whilst the room we had looked like to had been redecorated, the shower was unpleasant with mould in the corners.

Carpets in the corridor looked old and in need of replacement. Walls were quite thin.

The staff were very helpful and friendly 🙂 The lift broke down a couple of times that couldn't be help as it was in constant use but was fixed very quickly

All in all a pleasant stay in an old hotel Nice breakfast and excellent location The buildings at the seaside in Eastbourne are all really old. The rooms are really nice, but the building needs restoration and I'm afraid that's going to be too expensive so they'll never do it. Most staff were very friendly, but one girl at reception really wasn't. We asked a question about their parking system while it was check out time for other guests and she obviously didn't like we even dared...
