Superb building but needs a lick of paint ! Very lovely staff and the food is good in the blue bar . Breakfast is served in the grand dining room and ia good . We love the location of this hotel . It’s so close to the pier and shops . There is usually good entertainment too . It’s a bit tatty but the views are superb if you get a sea view !

The location was very convenient opposite the beach and almost opposite the pier, bandstand, a short walk to the shopping centre, bars and restaurants. Every member of staff was helpful and very pleasant. We were given a Seaview room which was roomy and the facilities were good. All in all we had a great stay.

Stayed here for one night with my husband. Just needed a bed for the night that wasn't too expensive. Hotel itself a little tired, as were the rooms, but perfectly adequate for the amount we paid. Nice clean bed linen and towels, comfy bed and pillows - which is all we wanted really. Good breakfast. Helpful staff.

We booked not realising the Football would turn out on 'our' weekend away but was pleasantly surprised that all games we're shown in the Seaview bar - staff were all spot on service too.
Reception greeted and accommodated us with any request we had e.g. extra towels, coffee, late check out also :)
First time having breakfast here and we cannot complain at all - buffet style fry up with sausage, scrambled egg , beans, tomatoes, hash browns, bacon, bread or toast, continental style buffet also and plenty of drink choices too. All very flavoursome !
Our room was wonderful, 3 tall Bay windows with a sea view, fully stocked tea and coffee with biscuits and bottled water. Clean throughout and nice simple bathroom too.
This hotel is a grade II listed building and it has some wonderful old features and character throughout, with that you should expect some creaky floor boards and some dated furnishings such as the carpet but really not the worst we've seen and for the price we were very happy with our room and spaces we used.
There was entertainment on both Friday and Saturday over the weekend in the ballroom with a bar which we enjoyed in the evenings. The sea view bar has food available from 12-8 which is really good and affordable too.
Only thing I personally found a nuisance was that the ladies loos are downstairs in the damp basement and my knees struggled using the stairs with my health condition - the staff explained the old toilets were damaged in the fire next door and that this will hopefully be sorted soon ?
But not the end of the world, I managed. No disabled toilet on ground floor

Historic Hotel !! Perfect !!!
All was perfect in this hotel a hotel with Character just up our street perfect !! Breakfast fab too catering for all even gluten free !!! Second time we have stayed right on the beach front perfect location with such history !!!
Nothing asked for a lower floor room due to husbands mobility & staff listened !! Just perfect !!

If you're looking for luxury, this ain't it. However, if you want a comfortable place to stay; good food; and friendly and helpfull staff, then this is the place!
Decor could do with a massive facelift, but, as I said, depends on what you want.
They have a good variety of entertainment almost every night, but I personally didn't partake.
Only other downside appart from decor is that at breakfast, they only do scrambled eggs and don't have mushrooms for the cooked breakfast. Everything else as you would expect. Also, couple of items on the bar menu not up to scratch

Comfort at a reasonable price
The staff were so friendly. I liked the view of the sea and I liked the bath and shower. Everything was lovely. I enjoyed being in what was once a grand hotel.
I appreciated that all the wardrobes table and chairs appeared new and the colour scheme was nice. Maybe the hotel could have a new carpet.

Relaxing, enjoyable stay.
