Short stay in Eastbourne The hotel is very central near the pier and sea. Also near a bus that goes to Brighton and Hastings, hop on bus and Dotto train It has a bar that serves food which is helpful if you don't feel like going out and set dinner. Also entertainment at the weekend.
The staff were very helpful. The room was generally clean and tidy.
i requested a first or second floor room due to health issues on the booking and also send a message to the hotel. The room was on the third floor as they had no record of my request. As I had already paid I had no option to take the room.

The room was very hot even with the window wide open. The room needed hoovering as it had food around the bin left by the previous resident.

A good stay at a hotel with character and a great location There was a lovely sea view.
Breakfast was lovely - they played holiday type music on the PA - a good atmosphere.
Bar was nice - watched the Olympics and had a nice glass of wine and good choice of beers.
Unfortunately the room was way too hot. Not sure what could be done about this as I guess that it got a lot of sun during the day. Opened the windows as much as could (but this wasn't much). Closing the curtains before we got there may have helped.

Enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Excellent location. Staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. Hotel is in need of redecorating , however workmen were in the hotel and it appears that this is now being undertaken.

Staff were friendly and the food was good; it's an ongoing operation to keep the hotel up to standard, but they are all doing their best.,

Some redeeming qualities, but we wont be returning Good location right by the beach and the pier, also just by the side of the hotel is a street filled with a variety of restaurants and takeaway food shops so dinner wasn't a hard decision or a long walk away if you dont fancy eating at their restaurant.

Staff were friendly and welcoming at reception, and we're always on hand to help with any questions or queries we might have.

Appeared to be a relatively fresh new carpet in the room, which was very soft underfoot.

Very clean bed and linen.

Fan provided in the room, with the recent hot weather and how hot it was in the room this was a welcome addition. A/C would have been preferred but the fan did the job and allowed us to stay a bearable temperature through the night.

Private car park, although small so certainly couldn't hold probably even 10% of the hotel guests cars should they all have driven in but we found a space in it. Failing this there is ample parking in the surrounding area.
Once out of the main public spaces like the foyer the hotel is in dire need of refreshing. We stayed on the 4th floor and doors that separated different areas of the corridor were missing a lot of the paint that used to be on them and are starting to split and break apart.

The lift is small and at the time of our stay there was only 1 of the 2 lifts in operation. The small size of the lift meant that you could only get a max of around 3 people in it (only 2 if you were carrying luggage), this caused long waits to use it at peak times like breakfast and check out.

The room we stayed in was a cosy double, we knew it was the cheapest room available but we didn't quite expect the poor state of the room we got. Firstly, there was dust, dirt and grime EVERYWHERE. It certainly had not received a thorough clean in some time. Most noticeably in our room there was a thick layer of dust atop the bathroom light above the mirror. This immediately mean that we couldnt trust most of the things in the room to be usable, like the coffee/tea mugs provided. Secondly the room itself was falling apart, bits of the wooden frame around the bath were starting to split away, the front door to the room was difficult to close as it's top hinge was beginning to split away from the door frame so once open it moved and the door would hit the doorframe when closing. And there was a very noticeable patch job done on the ceiling directly above the bed that looked like it had been done to cover a hole that had once appeared from a leak of some kind as the area around in bowed downward.

When waiting at breakfast there was a sign that read "Please wait here to be seated", a standard practice so as to allow staff to confirm that you had paid for breakfast before sitting down. We waited for about 15 minutes and no-one showed up.

Lovely stay. Ignore the negative reports. It’s an old hotel and they are redoing the rooms. Ours was lovely. Was a bit worried about the bed as we had a small double but it was perfect and one of the best beds we’ve had in a long time - great sleep.

Only negative would be no air con. It was boiling outside but we knew this before we booked and still booked.

Not for younger people but perfect for those wanting a quiet weekend away by the sea and walking.
